I have been teaching cello since 1989.
Cello students of all ages and levels are accepted at my studio. All levels of the cello repertoire from the beginning through the Major Concertos will be taught. Students will be placed in courses according to the level of their current repertoire. The sequence of repertoire in the Suzuki Cello School will be used to place students.

About Kelvin
I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional musician and educator with solid experience in the classroom. For the past 25 years, I have been employed with Amati music academy and seven years on the faculty of University of St Francis.
I am very comfortable with all aspects of the current music syllabus, including teaching musical concepts (such as duration, pitch, dynamics, tone color, texture and structure) as well as performance, composition. I am fully qualified, with a Bachelor of Education in Music, Double Masters in music performance and education from University of Nottingham.
I am proficient in classical, jazz and Celtic fiddle violin and possess solid skills in piano (grade 8-13) Royal conservatory system.
Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. I str
ongly believe that music has the power to change lives – to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. Professional perform experience: The Chicago, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Three tours with Moody Blues, YoYo Ma etc....
The most important thing I look for in a student is communication skills, as well as talent. I like to nurture students and help identify their individual strengths, which is a key factor in shaping a musical persona that will make its mark both on and offstage. I do not advocate a uniform technique for all students. Physical differences and learning styles are always taken into consideration. Potential is as important to me as early achievements and experience. My goal is to help students become self-sufficient, discriminating artists. I discuss practice techniques often and develop individualized scale routines. I encourage initiative and expressive musicality as well as precision. Above all, music needs to bring obvious joy to the student, regardless of the difficulties.”

Kelvin is a great teacher. He understands and teaches in a way that makes sense to me. If you’ve played the Banjo you know the teacher needs a lot of patience and he does. He provides the right direction and more importantly listens to my questions. There is no doubt in my mind if you have to learn or improve your banjo skills Kelvin can help.

I have spent 30 years teaching cello with good success. I enjoying helping students getting better. I teach the rudiments of the bow arm, bow grip and how to change the direction of the bow.

About Don
I graduated from Juilliard (BA) and played 3 years with the New Jersey Symphony after which I moved to Europe where I was Principal cellist with a Swiss Orchestra ( Biel ). I teach the Leonard Rose bow arm technique. I believe he had the best bow arm in the business.

I work with the bow arm first with beginners and advanced players to get a better bow grip, bow stroke and bow change. The rudiments are important!

Perfect first session. Michael adapted to Rory's deep understanding of music theory but total lack of knowledge of the bass. He was thoughtful, patient, and adaptive introducing the bass and providing practice suggestions to Rory. I recommend Michael in the highest terms as an instructor for beginners and knowing his vast education and experience in the bass I must assume this travels though the entire range of students - beginner to advanced. We look forward to the next lesson.

My goal is to help you become the cellist you want to be! I am excited to teach students of all levels. I believe a core foundation in classical technique is the key to success, and I emphasize that in my teaching. With that said, I love exploring other genres such as pop and folk. Let's make music together!

About Julia
I have been playing the cello for 12 years, and in those years I have experienced many different approaches to teaching. No two students are alike, and I cater every lesson to the student's personal needs. I have a Bachelor's degree in cello performance from Ithaca College, Whalen School of Music, and am currently pursuing a Master's degree at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

My main goal is to create a fun, engaging, encouraging and inspiring relationship with my students. I often play alongside my students during lessons to create a more comfortable atmosphere, as well as allowing me to demonstrate whatever it is I am trying to teach. At times in my cello studies, I found practicing to be difficult because I wasn't playing repertoire I wanted to play, rather, playing only what my teacher felt was best. I have taken those personal
struggles and applied them to my own teaching style. While technique and standard classical repertoire is incredibly important to a students development as a cellist, I like to incorporate music that the student is passionate about as well, whether it be pop music, folk, rock, you name it! I think it is really important for a student to make their own choices in their musical development.

At this point in my career, I am most passionate about chamber music. I find when I'm playing alongside other musicians, I feel the most comfortable and can express myself openly. As a chamber music coach, I strive to help a group connect, both as musicians and as people, so they can perform passionately and experience all of the fun that small ensemble music has to offer.

Let me help you become the musician YOU want to be! I look forward to making music with you.

Having 10 years of experienced cello teaching, I feel very comfortable helping my students understand the foundations of cello technique. I graduated with a Bachelors of Music from the music conservatory Cleveland Institute of Music, and got my Masters in Music from Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music.

In addition, I completed a 2 year rigorous Suzuki Technique Pedagogy Program where I am now certified to teach all 10 levels of the cello books. I am confident in explaining any questions a student may have. I love to make practicing a game, so that way we are developing the proper skills but also challenging ourselves while having fun! Even I can understand that practicing can get tiresome and dull at times!

As a traveling musician who has performed all over the world, I feel it is important for students to appreciate all types of music. While classical training and technique are absolutely crucial to the beginning stages of a student's development, I like to show the ...

About Genevieve
I am a professional cellist, skilled in all solo, chamber, and orchestra settings. My playing has invited me into the top ranking music festivals in the world including Tanglewood Music Center, Aspen Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, and many others. These opportunities have led me to perform with the New York Philharmonic.

Growing up, I studied with a Philadelphia orchestra cellist who prepared me for conservatory auditions. After being accepted into all 7 universities and conservatories I applied to including the Juilliard School, I decided to go to the Cleveland Institute of Music where I got my Bachelors of Music in cello performance. I studied with the former principal cellist of the Cleveland Orchestra, and also with one of the best Suzuki pedagogues in the country. I, then, got a Masters in Music in cello performance
from Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music. There, I studied with one of the most internationally renowned cello professors in the world who has shaped me into the musician I am today. In addition, I got my Suzuki Certification in all 10 levels of cello books after completing a 2 year year rigorous Suzuki pedagogy program.

In my second year at Northwestern, I won a fellowship, covering my full tuition and acceptance into The Civic Orchestra of Chicago. This is the apprentice orchestra under the Chicago Symphony. We worked with all the conductors that came in to play with the symphony. Yo Yo Ma, the most famous cellist of all time, is the creative consultant for the Civic Orchestra and we got to work with him 4 or 5 times a year.

I have traveled and performed with my string quartet ATLYS representing Lincoln Center in New York City. We have traveled around the world playing crossover music, where we play arrangements of pop, jazz, folk, traditional, rock, indie, alternative, rap, but always return to the forever-beautiful classical quartets, as well.

Because of this, I have learned to play extended techniques on the cello and learned different styles of playing, like Celtic gigs and reels and cool jazzy bass lines. I think this is a fun unique quality that I can add to a student's cello development when studying with me.

I arrange music for string quartet, too. I think it's important for my students to also learn some basic music theory as it can develop a student's understanding of music at a much deeper level. This can make a student appreciate how a piece is created and where a phrase needs tension or where it needs to be released. It's very important for their musicality.

Genevieve taught me the most I’ve ever learned about the cello in a mere two months. Through her I was able to move through an entire Suzuki book while also learning every scale (including chromatic) without using open strings. The techniques she taught me helped further my music that I still use today. Before studying with her I was fourth stand in my high school’s orchestra. By the end of the Summer I was able to achieve first chair and all of the offered solos.

Ms. Tabby's the best! I highly recommend her to anyone who loves music and wants to learn how to play the cello. I studied with her for a few years in Chicago and she was the most patient, kind, and dedicated teacher I have ever had. I improved so quickly while taking lessons with her, AND I had fun while doing it. If you're looking for a great teacher with a kind heart and a brilliant mind, look no further!

The cello is a really cool instrument and I enjoy playing and teaching it.

About Sheri
I play 18 different stringed instruments! I have been playing guitar since I was 9. I have been teaching private music lessons at a music studio since I was 18. I am a singer/songwriter/entertainer. I am very patient. I have a Masters degree in Special Education. I was in a car accident in 2008 and I was told I would never use my right hand again - and I proved the doctors and therapists wrong by using music instruments as my own form of physical therapy - you would never know by the way I play that I have had every finger in my right hand broken and I have plates and screws in my wrist. I can PLAY and TEACH - Guitar, 5-String Banjo, Dobro, Mandolin, Ukulele, Bouzouki, Violin, Viola, Cello, Tenor Banjo, Banjolin, Mountain Dulcimer, Bass, Banjolele, Autoharp, Hammer Dulcimer, Dulcimette, Banjitar. Music brings the beauty out of life. My first priority is to quickly lay a solid technical foundation in order to speed progress and cultivate harmony between the student and their Cello.
I have been teaching professionally for 11 years. I combine Suzuki and traditional methods.
All skill levels and ages are welcome!
Ages 5+

About Tugce
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance in Cello from Bilkent University School of Music in Ankara, Turkey on a full-scholarship, as a full-time music student for 11 years with honors.
In 2012 I graduated from Valdosta State University with my Master’s Degree in Performance with 4.0 GPA, where I was the recipient of an out of state scholarship and teaching assistantship.

While pursuing my Master’s Degree at VSU, I had the opportunity to teach in award-winning South Georgia String Project (SGSP), an after-school music program where public school-age children, from grades 1-12, have access to low-cost stringed instrument lessons. In SGSP I was fortunate enough to instruct a diverse group of children where I conducted orchestras, assisted with the Valdosta Youth Orchestra, taught group and private lessons, and applied Differ
entiated Learning teaching techniques.

My experience as an intercultural and international musician, and as a teacher enables me to collaborate with people from varying backgrounds.

I strive to tailor each student's experience. Facilitating progression and learning at the individual level.

Throughout my teaching career, my focus has been centered around cultivating the students’ interest by awakening a sense of music appreciation while teaching them the technical skills of playing an instrument.

Apart from teaching, I have been a performer for 12 years with various orchestras. And now you can see me play with the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra in Oahu, where I live and teach.

I am looking forward to bringing the joy of music into your life!

Working with Tugce was an absolute joy. I’ve had the pleasure of working with her as a colleague and working with her as a private instructor as well. Working with her as a colleague was pleasurable. She was very professional, approachable, and knowledgeable. If I had any questions or needed help in any way she was always there to help me and was willing to help with anything that I needed. As a private instructor she was very knowledgeable, personable, relatable, and thorough in her explanations of how things should be executed. She was always patient and made me feel at ease with where I was in my studies. She met me where I was in my studies as a cellist and worked with me to help me elevate myself in what my goals were. She helped me be confident in my own knowledge and physical ability. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who is looking for a cello teacher!!
