I am a certified Suzuki Method teacher, currently trained in levels 1-3, with plans for further certification training.

I am fun and supportive. I'm having just as much fun teaching as I want my students to have learning, and creating a patient, supportive environment is integral to my students' development.

I teach all ages and abilities. I am experienced in a variety of teaching levels, from beginning to advanced studies.

Each student has lessons structured according to their individual goals, learning speeds, and musical levels. I teach students of all levels positive playing habits and how to avoid bad habits, and I teach these using the standard classical repertoire for violin and viola.

I emphasize technique and the fundamentals of theory, with students of all levels so they will have the essential building blocks and tools they need to succeed.

I am professional. I have received some of the best education in my field, and with over 20 years of experience in music

Anna is a colleague of mine from graduate school and from the Chicago Suzuki Institute (CSI). I've witnessed her teaching many students while in training at CSI, and she never fails to bring a smile to her student's face! Lessons with Anna are always full of joy, laughter, and learning.
RYAN M.
Anna is very good at explaining terms and methods in a way that can be easily understood by a novice such as myself by catering to one's style of learning while at the same time ensuring that the student remain grounded on the fundamentals whether it is in the finger positioning, bowing strokes, or proper posture. I love how she is able not only to identify things that I might be doing wrong but also solutions to difficulties that I might be having during the lessons. As a result, I am very happy at how I have progressed in my skill level since I started a couple of months ago. She is very patient, listens to concerns of the student, very easy to talk to, and has a laid back learning environment. I would highly recommend her to anyone I know who might be interested in learning the violin, whether young or old like myself.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Music in performance from George Mason University and a Master’s in Music from the University of Maryland. He has attended collegiate chamber music and orchestral festivals including the National Orchestral Institute, the Bowdoin International Music Festival and the Orfeo Music Festival in Vipiteno, Italy. He considers Peter Haase and James Stern his most influential violin teachers. Andrew’s students have auditioned successfully for collegiate programs in music as well as in district and regional events at the pre-college level on violin and viola. He wants his students to discover a technique with which they can project their musical ideas through the instrument. Andrew performs frequently on violin and viola with orchestras and at other venues in Virginia, D.C. and Maryland.

About Andrew

Andrew wants his students to discover a technique with which they can project their musical ideas through the instrument. All lessons are tailored to each individual. For younger students I like to use a mixture of the Suzuki method, the Paul Roland School, and other traditional teaching techniques

Zachary has such a positive and encouraging way with our son. He is clearly a very talented musician -- yet he is humble and has said he is always still learning all the time. From the first lesson, he provided persistent guidance for improving with patience and compassion. He is a gifted teacher. We are very happy to have found him!

Introduction to Proper Violin Posture

You may feel that learning the violin is all about playing the right notes at the right time. It is – to an extent. But in order to learn the various techniques and play for longer periods of time, there are other skills that every student needs to master too, and that includes proper violin posture. Because it affects all areas of violin playing, such as tone, intonation, bow hold and stroke, as well as shifting, all violin technique is built around proper violin posture. If you ignore or fo …
