We are loving cello with Quinn! We had her in person before COVID and now online. She does a great job of guiding the learning process and working with the student (my daughter as an individual)

My 9 yr old daughter began cello lessons with Quinn about 2 weeks before lockdown started. I was worried that online lessons wouldn't work out, but Quinn has been amazing. She's great at explaining everything so that my daughter understands, and she pushes just enough to keep her interested without being overwhelmed. She also answers questions promptly by email when any problems arise. I can't recommend her highly enough!

She’s a very patient, encouraging teacher and I’ve had a great experience learning from her!

"Rob is a great teacher. I hired him to help me play a song at a friend's wedding, having not played cello in years. He had some really helpful tricks up his sleeve to help reinforce the things we went over in each lesson, like bow technique and posture.
Rob was also very flexible in terms of what we focused on at each lesson. Working with him, it's easy to tell that cello and teaching are both passions of his."

"I have been a student of music for many years with piano and violin. This year it was time for a change. Taking on cello with Victor has been the best experience. He is kind, patient and provides a wonderful learning environment. Although my lessons are done online it seems no different then if he were standing in my living room! I would encourage anyone to take cello lessons from Victor as he teaches a unique way with every student. By the end of your first lesson you will love what you learn and practice to get better. It has been super fun and I look forward to learning more!"

"Chris's style of teaching and breadth of musical styles and genre was a breath of fresh air. After 4 years of strictly classical Suzuki method, it was time to try something new to keep my 12 year old daughter interested. She and Chris are currently transposing a Queen song so my daughter can play it on cello. Chris's teaching style is laid back and the lessons are largely directed by the student's interests, which is just what was needed in our case."

What is the Suzuki Cello Method?

The Suzuki method, founded in 1945 by violinist Shinichi Suzuki as the Talent Education Movement, is one of the most enduring teaching methods, or pedagogies for young string players. Suzuki’s main goal for his music education system was to give students a “noble spirit,” which would instill respect and cooperation through his method. The method was brought to America in the 1960s by John D. Kendall, and today the Suzuki Association of the Americas instructs new teachers and studen …

What are the Hardest Cello Pieces? How to Get from Beginner to Advanced Player

As a beginner I often told myself I would know I am a really great cellist when I could play Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee at full speed. To my young ears, this simply had to be one of the hardest cello pieces with its high range, chromaticism, and famously fast tempo. As my musical career continued I worked on these and other skills to reach a point I could begin learning the piece confidently, and it was only a matter of time before I achieved my goal. Of course, this wasn’ …

What Does it Take to Become a Professional Cello Player?

Pursuing a career in music is a risky decision, because by the nature of the industry few artists can “make it big.” Most artists aren’t pop stars, or even full-time career musicians, and all musicians also teach to remedy this. There are many paths to becoming a professional cello player, and depending on where you start it might be easy or hard to earn a reputation and start making money. I followed an academic path, studying classical music at university and then continuing my research …
