Great teacher. Very patient and observant. He tells you where your strengths and weaknesses are and develops a plan to assist you in overcoming your weaknesses. My left hand is weak but the more I practice on the assignments the more I become confident in my success.

My son’s first lesson went really well! Mr. Charles was really accommodating - as we were running late and he patiently waited and completed our full first session. My son is already looking to his next lesson.

A thorough understanding of music theory can be of tremendous help to any musician, regardless of the instrument. As a guitar teacher, I usually teach music theory as it relates to the guitar. If the guitar is not your main instrument, I will explain certain concepts via the piano/keyboard.

Depending on your background, we can start with basic music notation or jump straight into modal harmony or other topics.

My music theory lessons cover a lot of the material that is taught at Berklee's harmony courses. I would give you weekly assignments, so you can get some hands-on experience and deepen your understanding of the material. In essence, you can get a Berklee-like music theory education for a fraction of the cost and learn at your own pace.

Andy was my guitar instructor for more than year. He is a master in theory and practice and is able to bring you to the highest levels. The breath of learning opportunities he offers in terms of techniques, styles, rhythms, songs etc is huge and allows for training and development in the desired areas at every possible level. And he can back up the lessons by the underlying music theory as needed. In practice, Andy quickly spots where issues lie and provides useful hints to overcome technical problems. In addition he offers useful material which helps when practicing at home.

Ahmad makes you feel comfortable and really understands the way that people learn and how to teach in the most effective way. The guitar is a tough instrument to learn and you want to learn from someone knowledgeable and patient and that's exactly what Ahmad is."

Music Student Face-Off: Memorizers vs. Readers | Which is Better?

As you learn songs and work through your music books, do you memorize the notes? Or do you read along every time you play? In this post, music teacher Vanessa G. discusses the pros and cons to the approaches...   Imagine your teacher gives you a piece of music to study. What's your process? Do you listen to a recording, memorizing the melody and the stylistic aspects before you begin, and then as you play? Or would you sit down and sight read the notes, and perfect it from that star …
