I'm a dedicated teacher and spend extra time outside of lessons thinking about how to best approach the following lesson. I find the style of teaching that works best for the student. I write plans after lessons and email or give them in person summarizing the lesson's key points to help make practicing at home easier and more organized in order to make lesson time as effective overall as possible.
About Fedor
I'm a rising Junior at The Juilliard School. I started playing when five and a half. I attended the Juilliard Pre-College program for two last years of high school before attending Juilliard on the college level. In August of 2013, I became the youngest semi-finalist in the Schoenfeld International

I do a variety of styles in music for the violin. I use whatever method (book or teaching style) is needed to teach what the student needs to learn. I have been teaching violin for 25 years. Depending on age, we will start in either Essential Elements or Suzuki. All beginners will start the bow after they can read the first 8 notes. All intermediates will be able to play 2 octave scales from 3 sharps to 3 flats as well as well into Wolfhart book 1. They will also be able to shift into third position cleanly and will be starting on vibrato. For Advanced players, we will be working on Concertos, sonatas, and partitas if they wish to go classical. IF they wish other styles, we will have started that in intermediate. All students will have an opportunity to go through the music development program, if they are interested.
About Chris
I have been teaching private violin for over 20 years, and private viola/cello for about 10. I have taught in Charles and St. Mary's County Public schools. I am a member of American Strings Teacher's Association, National Association for Music Educators (Maryland Music Educators Association), and t

I have worked as a professional String Teacher for the past 10 with students learning the Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass and Guitar. I have also worked as an Orchestra Director in public schools in Boston, San Francisco and New York. My students enjoy learning with me and are inspired not only about playing music, but about life.
You will learn the proper position to facilitate playing any of the string instruments.
After studying with me, you will have a strong understanding of how to develop your position, tone and technique on the violin. You will learn more about music based on your level (of current understanding). You will explore. You will learn how to play along to/with a song of your choice. You will be reminded that this is a tool and you are the artist.
What is your message or reason for playing?
What purpose does it fulfill?
You will receive/be given creative encouragement to express yourself.
You will be inspired.

Welcome to my violin and viola studio! I believe that every student can enjoy the process of studying an instrument, and can learn to play with ease and joy. As a result, I work to determine each student's learning style, look for ways to encourage individual ownership of learning, and adapt my approach to help meet each student’s needs and goals. I teach both Suzuki and traditional lessons, and draw from a variety of musical styles and approaches to help students develop a broad range of skills that include a strong technical foundation, ear training, sight-reading, ensemble playing, and musical self-expression. Through this approach, I hope to help students develop a lifelong love for music that will serve them in all future endeavors, musical or otherwise.
