Ive been working with Eric for over a year now and I can't recommend him enough. Whether you are looking to play guitar recreationally or professionally Eric is the person you want to help hone your skills. As someone who has tried to teach myself and failed I can say that after working with Eric not only do I understand music itself astronomically better but I also am able to produce music on a creative level that would have taken years to achieve without Eric. Lastly, to anyone who is on edge of whether they need a teacher or not, the answer is YES, absolutely and you won't find anyone better than Eric.

I began playing guitar at the age of ten and studied both classical and jazz guitar at the undergraduate and masters level.

In guitar lessons, we will work on technique, scales, chords, fret-board logic, and improvising.

About Sean
Hello future students,

My name is Sean I am a composer living in Waltham, MA. I hold a Master's in Music Composition from the University of Redlands and a Bachelor's in Music from the University of SC. I have been teaching guitar, bass, keyboard, audio engineering, and songwriting/composition for 3 years.

Whether you are a novice, a seasoned musician, or just someone with an old guitar and too much time on your hands, I am ready to teach you. I offer in-studio, in-home, and Skype lessons at 1/2 hr to 1 1/2 increments. In these lessons, I will provide you with the materials required. My only prerequisite is that students are required to own the instrument that they are studying.

My teaching style is based on you, the individual. There are no foolproof methods for teaching music because every student is unique. What works well f
or one student may prove to be frustrating and confusing to another. My mission is to meet you at your experience level and gently lead you to a higher understanding of music. In our first lesson together, we will discuss your goals and how we can meet them.

I offer recording services as well. I have the necessary gear and several years of experience recording various types of ensembles. Have a melody but no harmony? Let's find the chords the melody is asking for. Have chords but no melody? Let's find the melody that conveys the mood you're trying to create. Have an already existing song that you want to work on? Let's tighten it up in lessons and cut a demo of it.

This education is yours. I want you to get the absolute most out of your experience with me. If I seem like I'd be a good fit as your teacher, sign up for some lessons. I promise a fun and rewarding experience.

Best,
Sean

I am a new student -- and have never learned to play an instrument. I was encouraged by medical providers to learn an instrument as part of certain of my cognitive therapies. My instrument (the mandolin) was a gift from my son.
I have been fortunate to work with Sean O. G. Burns over the past few months. His style is perfect for my needs. He is patient, and leads with a gentle push -- no pressure! Sean is incredibly talented in his own right musically, and has talents - I'm sure, well beyond my needs -- I see him as an excellent teacher for all ages!

In the world of music education it is important to recognize that everyone learns differently and there is no universally prescribed teaching method that works for all students. Everyone must find how he or she learns best. As a teacher I acknowledge this and incorporate it into my method of instruction. Anyone can find success as a proficient instrumentalist if they are able to learn on there own terms and find what they are doing enjoyable. Through my methodology I know I can help you achieve your musical aspirations!

About Cameron
Cameron began playing guitar at the age of 14, as a kid who found great Inspiration in classic rock music, idolizing such groups as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Beatles, and many more. This was only the beginning of a life long intimate relationship with music and guitar playing. Since his first introduction to the guitar he quickly grew, establishing a love for blues and all of its incarnations, from Chicago Blues to the varying acoustic and electric styles found in New Orleans, Mississippi, and South Carolina among other places.
Through high school Cameron played in rock and blues bands writing original music and getting his first real experiences as a composer and a bandleader. High School was also the place where Cameron discovered his interest in Jazz music as he began playing guitar in the school's Jazz band. Following hi
gh school Cameron began playing more jazz music as he attended Bellevue College studying theory and composition with Dr. Brian Cobb and guitar performance with Mark Hillard Wilson. After this he soon met renowned Jazz Guitarist Chris Spencer, with whom he studied with for years to follow.
Cameron eventually found himself at Cornish College of the Arts where he received a Bachelors degree in Music Composition. While at Cornish he had the opportunity to play guitar and compose for Jazz Orchestras, Latin Jazz ensembles, and Modern Jazz groups while playing under the direction of internationally know musicians such as Wayne Horvitz, Tom Varner, Jovino Santos Neto and Chuck Deardorf.
In the realm of composition Cameron studied privately with composers Jarrad Powell and Tom Baker, with a deep focus in contemporary classical music. He is now the composer for the quickly rising interdisciplinary arts group the Pendleton House.
Currently Cameron spends his time working as a guitar player in Seattle while also writing chamber music for various ensembles and art groups. He performs on a regular basis with a variety of groups in the Seattle area including the Seattle based jazz trio Honeysuckle Rye, folk and bluegrass group Modern Bygones, as well as the orchestral pop band Sebastian and the Deep Blue.

Lessons will start with an assessment of what the student wants to learn and what their goals are. From there, we will determine the proper approach to meet those goals while keeping things fun and interesting. Once a particular skill level and interest are established I will develop an individualized lesson plan for the student to fit their wants and needs. The goal with beginning students is to get them up and running right away with chords and melodies, learning the fundamentals while being able to play their favorite songs. For all students I like to extensively focus on knowledge of the fret board and the many possible approaches to mastering it, as well as looking at creative practice methods and daily routines. A musician’s method of practicing can greatly determine their rate of improvement. For more intermediate and advanced students the general focus will shift to topics such as ear training, rhythm, music theory and music notation (if desired) and, their application to the guitar.
For students interested in composition, we will focus more on analysis and the application of theory. We will look at songs or pieces that are of interest to the student and take them apart to figure out what makes them great. We will also look at many different kinds of music and their construction. A large part of music composition in the 21st century is the integration of electronic and computer music. For students looking for an introduction into pre-recorded and live electronic music with or without the use of guitar or other instruments, this is strength of mine that I love to teach.
Whether you are a serious musician or just looking for a fun hobby, I can get you where you want to be in your musical life. I’m fun, friendly and music is my passion and profession and I love to share it.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can bring extra guitars if needed, acoustic or electric.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in getting beginners up and running right away while helping each guitarist to find there own voice and have fun at the same time! When playing non-original music I specialize in blues, jazz and popular music.

I really enjoyed my first lesson with Cameron. His studio is great and he loves music. I learned some basic musical concepts and got to play a song at my first lesson...an old blues song that has been recorded by many different kinds of artists. I went home with assignments to practice tuning, a few chords, rhythm, and finger picking....just some introductory experiences. Cameron is professional and obviously loves teaching people I look forward to my next lesson!

My students can expect to have their lessons with me structured to fit their own unique and personal goals no matter what skill level they pursue or have already attained. I would encourage my students to find and bring sheet music and/or tablature for songs they wish to learn. Students are also encouraged to have blank music and/or tab paper for their lessons. For all lessons whether online or in home, students can expect me to bring a small amp, extra 1/4 in and 1/8 in cables, extra guitar picks, various guitar method books, a laptop computer, tuner & metronome, as well as other supplies needed. For in home lessons, I will do the best that I can to come to the student's home at least 5-10 min early to allow time to set up gear needed for lessons. As a final note, if there is a time and/or day that you would like to schedule a lesson with me that you do not see listed as part of my availability or if you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I have been an internationally touring guitarist for over ten years. In that time, I've played well over 1,000 shows and bring this experience to my students. I play most styles, both acoustic and electric, but have a particular focus on finger-style guitar. I am a very personalized teacher. I approach students as individuals and craft my lesson plans based on what excites them about music.

About Zak
I graduated with a BS in music from Skidmore College in 2002 and have been making my living as a professional musician ever since by touring internationally as a performer, making studio records, composing for film and television, and teaching. I am primarily a guitar player and a songwriter. I grew up playing drums and studied them well into college. I'm deeply influenced by the blues and country music, but I love anything that's good! I studied jazz and composition in school with a focus on improvisation. I wouldn't be half the musician I am today without the help of a few wonderful teachers. I think of them when I teach and do my best to inspire my students with the same joy and support that was offered to me.

I took guitar lessons with Zak for about 4 years and it was a great experience! I would pick a song to play, and as I learned the song he would teach me the scales that go with it. So I would learn the song and the music theory behind it, super cool. I also learned how to read sheet music from Zak. I enjoyed taking lessons from him!
