About David
David is a multi-talented musician as a performer, composer, and educator. He has performed compositions from the Renaissance to world premiere 21st century compositions.

As a performer David has been invited to perform in Master classes with world renowned classical guitarists such as Petar Kodzas, Marko Feri, Mir Ali, Roland Dyens, James Piorkowski, The Castellani-Andriaccio Duo, and Jason Vieaux.

As an educator David was awarded a year-long teaching assistantship in classical guitar. He has worked with students K-12 as a student teacher and has taught private students all varieties of guitar.

David created a music program called Spectrum Music specializing in Autism & Aspergers. Spectrum Music is a program that provides children with unique opportunities to enhance social development and sensory skills outside of therapy
in music.

David received his Bachelors Degree in Music Education and Classical Guitar from The State University of New York at Fredonia studying with James Piorkowski. David recently completed his Masters Degree in Classical Guitar Performance under the direction of Joanne Castellani. David currently performs with a guitar built by luthier Jim Holler.

Students can expect to receive a firm foundation in music & guitar while becoming a better musician every day. It is vital for students to have lessons that specialize in not only guitar but also music theory. My primary goals are to make each student a great guitarist and also a well-rounded musician. I firmly believe that any student at any age can become a successful guitarist when engaged in instruction that is appropriate and motivating.

Typically a lesson begins with a quick warm up to center your focus on guitar, then we move into scales and technique, followed by working on previous repertoire and picking new repertoire. and then concluding with sight-reading.

My 7 year old son has been taking lessons with Dave for nearly two years. Dave has an incredible amount of patience, and is always coming up with new ways to keep my son interested. Dave's ability to build in interesting facts about the music and composers, his use of technology to enable the lessons, and his general good humor never cease to amaze me. He's a great teacher.

David is a wonderful teacher who makes learning to play music interesting. He seems to focus on his student's progress and lead them in the right direction. I am a current classical guitar student of his and he has helped me to prepare various pieces and scales for my upcoming college audition. I would highly recommend David to anyone who wants to learn to play the guitar as he is very patient and a very skilled guitarist and teacher!

Hello! My name is Allen and I've been playing guitar for 16 years, and teaching for the past 10. I've been performing and writing since the age of 16 with bands in many styles. I'm originally from Santa Maria, CA, and I obtained my knowledge of music theory, performance, and songwriting skills from taking private lessons in the central coast at a place called Coelho's Academy of Music. Our head instructor, Jerry Coelho, was a student of the late Howard Roberts and was one of the first graduating students to who helped to establish Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT), currently known as The Musicians Institute. After dedicating 4 years of private lessons under Jerry and his other top instructors, my hard work payed off and I was given the opportunity take students of my own. For the following two years, I've managed to consistently teach
40 students per week. I decided to move forward and take my musical experience with me to San Diego, where I currently teach, write, record, and perform my music with others who have similar goals and aspirations. I love playing in as many bands as possible. The main one I play in is called Quel Bordel. Some of the bands I've played in have given me the opportunity to perform with local and big named artists such as D.J. Artistic, Gary Wilson of Stones Throw Records, The Aristocrats, Terry Bozzio, Alan Holdsworth, and Tony Levin. As a full time musician and performer, I'm typically out gigging anywhere from 2-5 a week. As a teacher, I'm here to help you with where you want to be with guitar. Whether it's rock, pop, funk, hip hop, reggae, jazz, blues, indie, folk, and country, I can help you with the technical and theoretical side of things.

*** Lesson Details ***
My goal- To get you to become better than me. I find myself as an easy going teacher, and can provide that push when I see students getting more engaged in their lessons. I typically teach out of two main books, and it's optional for students to have their own copy of my recommended method books. I emphasize heavy chord vocabulary and steady rhythm. I believe that in order to be a good lead player, you would have to be a great rhythm player. As we develop technique, you can expect me to incorporate theory as to maintain an even share of the HOW's and WHY's. Moreover, expect to DO something with our lessons. Repetition is the mother of learning, and sometimes it comes down to the idea of 'monkey see, monkey do' before we can have in depth conversations about the application of your lessons in real situations. To me, music is very creative. So I'm a big believer on improvisation with both chords and scales. I believe in practical application when learning the songs you want to learn. So every student will have a unique way of learning the fundamentals only necessary to their personal goals.

My daughter is very shy which is why she won't try new things very often. However, after her first lesson with Allen she was excited. She said he made the lesson very fun and made her very comfortable. She learned her first two chords and is eager to practice transitioning between the chords and is looking forward to her next lesson with Allen.

George, was very patient, kind, and seem very knowledgeable. He seems to understand the pedagogy of teaching to kids and realize they all learn differently. I personally think he went above and beyond for my Son first class and for our first introduction. He offered a more modern approach method of teaching music and Piano to my son who so far seem more receptive in learning and practicing. Will se where that take us but I am very please so far.

Almost all of my students learn bar chords and how to use them in song they want to play in the first hour of lesson time.

Almost all of my students begin in the first lesson with songs like Little Wing and Georgia On My Mind, and Stairway To Heaven, with the right chords in sheet music form. Once you learn how to do that you can begin to take yourself through songbooks, if you learn how to use the printed music, there is a vast amount of it available everywhere.

Almost all of my students are reading melodies using real notation by the 4th or 5th lesson. Reading melodies they like and want to play. Although my students know how to use tab, Notation is the best way and they all prefer it, once they know the difference. Like the Stairway To Heaven Solo, or any of the beautiful Spanish melodies from J.Rodrigo, or blues ,jazz,rock and roll, once you can read, you can read anything in print on your own.

All of my students learn rhythm skills playing scales and songs with a metronome, so you learn how to play in time, as you develop stronger rhythm skills you can play better alone or with other people.

All of my students learn the Music Theory. What Time Signatures are and mean, Scales and scale harmonization. Chord progressions and playing through the chord changes. All of these and more are the fundamentals you will begin to work on in the first 4-5 hours of lessons with me.
I just don't show you songs, I teach you to teach yourself and begin to become musically independent.
Work on picking and speed and most importantly touch and feel.
Work on Finger picking as well, learn to use all 5 fingers on your right hand. or use the pick and 3 fingers, with me you WILL use your pinky or little finger.
By 3-4 months we will have covered the fundamentals and be working on more advanced material, songs and technique.

I have increased my lesson frequency to two one-hour sessions per week simply because of my progress under David's direction. After only three months of weekly lessons, I can now read music and play while reading. David has introduced me to effective melodic soloing, has significantly improved my understanding of barre chords up and down the fretboard, and has convinced me to abandon "guitaristic" thinking in favor of really understanding the potential of the guitar beyond shape memorization.

For those players serious about music, who are willing to devote the time and attention required to improve, and who appreciate not only learning to play guitar but the theory and history behind the music, David is your man. I have taken lessons in the past, usually consisting of a teacher asking what riffs I wanted to work on that day. Sound familiar? Not David. Within the first two weeks, he has me focused on plucking the strings with more feel, using a pick and fingers simultaneously with my right hand, practicing scales to the tempo of a metronome while using the forwards and backwards technique, etc. He has convinced me that I can become as accomplished a player as I put my mind and heart to. His mantra is to work towards playing at the speed of thought, which, for the first time in my life, looks to be a possibility with time. Thank you, David.

Cellist Ignacy Gaydamovich is an active soloist, recitalist, teacher, chamber musician, and a recording artist. His latest CD features cello works by Lukas Foss recorded for the first time in history. Gaydamovich regularly performs in Europe, Lebanon, Japan, and the United States and is a recipient of multiple awards from Austrian, American, and Polish institutions. In 2012 he gave the Albanian premiere of the Korngold Cello Concerto with the National Radio and Tv Orchestra of Albania in Tirana. As an advocate for new music, he gave the American premiere of Cellotronicum for cello and computer by Michal Talma-Sutt, commissioned and premiered a solo work by Alexander Barsov and appeared on a crossover CD Cosmospir. He is a founding member of the Atlas Piano Trio and the principal cellist of the Boston Chamber Orchestra. From upcoming enga
gements, Gaydamovich will perform Saint-Sanes Cello Concerto No. 1 with Manchester Symphony Orchestra in December of 2017. He collaborated with pianists Janusz Grzelazka, Judith Gordon, Vyacheslav Gryaznov, Jiayan Sun, Mohamed Shams, Cihan Yücel, and Rasa Vitkauskaite; with violinists Arkady Fomin, Fernando Vizcayno, and Gary Capozziello; as well as with cellists Jesus Castro-Balbi and Christopher Adkins.

A passionate teacher and organizer, Gaydamovich has been a frequent guest at the Conservatory Music in the Mountains in Durango, Colorado. He presented masterclasses at the first middle-east orchestra program in Beirut, as well as at festivals in Japan, Poland, Lithuania, and at several American colleges and schools. He served on the cello faculty at the Texas Christian University, Mount Holyoke College, and most recently held the Visiting Assistant Professor title at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, as well as organized the first Amherst Cello Camp in June of 2017 and is the director of Amherst Art Academy.

Gaydamovich was born into an artistic family and he spent his formative years in Poland studying piano, cello, and composition. There he also devoted his time as a music director of the Dzien Smierci Mozarta theater and produced a play for light and shadow after Britten's Suite No. 1. After winning several prizes at international competitions in Austria and Poland, he moved to the United States to continue his graduate studies. There his interests expanded to include conducting.

He is a fantastic teacher, who has an in depth knowledge and practical experience not only about the technique, but also about musicianship as a whole. With a rich tone and intuitive feel, vocalist and composer Andrea W. is in high demand as both a soloist and sideman in New York City and Washington DC. Andrea is said to have “astonishing vocal range” that is “effective in conveying the emotions of a song” (Jazz Times Magazine).

Andrea completed her Masters of Music at The Manhattan School of Music in 2013. Prior to MSM, Andrea received her Bachelors of Music in Jazz Studies from Michigan State University and attended the prestigious high school at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington D.C. where she majored in classical voice and piano.

Andrea received her Masters of Music Education from Columbia Teacher's College in 2017.

Andrea released her debut album “Dhyana” in 2011. She also sings for a French Gypsy-Jazz band, a neo-rock band, and a Nigerian
afro-beat band led by former Femi Kuti drummer Tosin Aribisala. She has been featured on several albums including a recent recording with Bizzy Bone of Bone Thugs N’ Harmony.

In addition to performing, Andrea is also a passionate educator. She has run her private voice and piano studio for 10 years and also teaches at The Larchmont Music Academy, Compass Arts, and Victoria Children's Group nursery in New York.

In the fall of 2013, Andrea and her band traveled to Mumbai, India to serve as the inaugural faculty at the True School of Music for four months. Andrea served as Head of the Vocal Department. The faculty taught young adults age 17-21.

*** Lesson Details ***
I believe lessons should be fun and that the most important thing about music education is passing on and encouraging a love for music. Especially with young children, I am flexible and teach a broad range of musical skills to help keep the student interested and engaged.

For both voice and piano study, I believe in finding your own sound and am willing to work with you on whatever musical style you are drawn to, but I am a big advocate of learning proper technique, regardless of the genre.

Lessons will spend time working on both technique and repertoire. Students are encouraged to bring in music that they want to learn. If a student is not sure of what song or style he/she wants to work on, I have plenty of books to choose from. We'll discover what you love together!

Andrea deserves 6 stars instead of 5!
I followed singing lessons in Belgium, in Italy and had at least 7 teachers before, but only Andrea could explain me in a way I could understand how our voice works. She is patience, very well informed and trained. She looks at you as a person and adapts her teaching to your person.
I followed lessons for almost a year and if I would still live in the US, I would still continue. In that year I made an incredible improvement, for which I am very grateful. Don't miss the chance to have Andrea as a teacher!

I'm a DOCTOR OF MUSICAL ARTS in Composition from University of Miami with a research in the relationship of classical music, jazz and popular music. I'm well versed in all those music fields.

About Rafael
Nominated for the Latin Grammy as a classical composer at the age of 27 and a current member of the Grammy Academy, I teach lessons and classes on topics related to my areas of expertise: music theory, composition, arrangement, orchestration, harmony, conducting and music production.

My teaching experience includes 5 years as a Teaching Assistant at Frost School of Music (University of Miami) leading 4 graduate and undergraduate school ensembles to win DOWNBEAT magazine awards.

As a composer and arranger I had works premiered and recorded by artists and ensembles such as the jazz legends Terence Blanchard, Chick Corea and Brian Lynch, Orquestra Jazz Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo (Brazil), Metropole Orkest (Netherlands), Camerata Latino Americana (Brazil) and Costa Rica National Orchestra.

My academic background includes a dua
l BACHELOR degree in Brazilian Jazz Studies and Classical Composition from UNICAMP (2004-2011, Campinas - SP, Brazil), a MASTER OF MUSIC degree in Studio Jazz Writing from the Frost School of Music - University of Miami (2011-2013), and a DOCTORATE OF MUSICAL ARTS degree in Jazz Composition also from University of Miami (2013-2016).

Besides being an incredibly talented composer, arranger, and sound engineer, Rafael is a great teacher. He's clear and well rounded in a variety of subjects. I studied music theory with Rafael and was exposed to a wealth of information at a very comfortable pace.

Rafael is a formidable teacher, very attentive to the student's needs and always willing to share the details of his work flow. He's also a very talented composer, which of course helps his students finding their own musical voice. He's the best!
