I have been playing the guitar for 13 years. As a recent graduate from Southeastern Louisiana University, I have been teaching guitar and ukulele lessons as well as classes since the spring of this year (2017). I hold a bachelor's degree in music performance with my primary instrument being the guitar.
I can help you to acquire a solid foundation of music theory knowledge. You can help to better understand music theory concepts if they are paired with guitar techniques to supplement them.
If you are a complete beginner, do not be afraid! I will help you to learn at a pace which is comfortable but still effective for you. These lessons will be focused and designed to fit YOUR needs. Let's learn together :)

I offer private in-studio lessons tailored to your level and goals. Learn to play lead, rhythm, jam, and/or improvise. We can approach learning by using tab, standard notation, or by ear.
We'll focus on tunes you want to play, or take a broader approach incorporating reading music, ear training and theory.
If you’re just starting, we’ll begin with basic technique (holding the pick, strumming), playing chords and playing simple melodies.

Hello,
I play 2 types of guitars:
Acoustic Guitar with 5 strings, DADGAD - Drop D & Standard tuning

Irish Tenor Guitar GDAE
A tenor guitar is smaller then a regular guitar, it has 4 steel strings.
It was initially developed in its acoustic form from Gibson and C.F. Martin so that the four-string tenor banjo players could double on guitar.
The tenor guitar has a distinctive style of its own. It can be heard in Country, Western Swing, Jazz, Contemporary Folk and Pop music.
I accommodate all students differently depending on their level, style of music they would like to learn and the pace that is easiest for them. You will learn melody and chords those are both essentials. We will work from a book as well as print outs and I will send you weekly recordings, you can feel free to contact me anytime between ...

I came to Mike with 25 years of playing experience and was expecting to grind through theory like I've done with past instructors. We jammed for a couple of minutes at our first lesson and he took it in a totally different direction, which has been amazing!!! He is so incredibly tuned in to what each individual student needs that he knew what I needed way before I figured it out. I love his approach to playing, which for an advanced player, focuses on getting ideas from your head to your fingers and I love that he teaches the theory aspect of playing, not as the focus, but as an explanation of why certain ideas work and certain ones don't. He doesn't jam theory down your throat, so lessons and practice are truly enjoyable and don't feel like a chore.
In addition to be a truly gifted teacher, Mike is just an awesome dude -- it's obvious that he loves to teach and really invests himself in getting his students to where they want to go. I can't recommend him highly enough.
Mike is an outstanding teacher. As a total guitar novice, his patience and instructional ability really helped me take small steps into a much bigger world. Between the in studio lessons and the exercises he gave me to do at home, I really feel like I learned a great deal in a short time period. I hope to work with him again in the future and would strongly recommend him to anyone thinking of guitar lessons.
My son has been taking lessons with Michael for about a year, and we are both very satisfied customers. When my son first came to Mike, he was anxious about his upcoming audition for the top jazz band at his school. Mike helped him prepare and feel more confident, and he was able to earn his place in the band. Since then Mike has worked with him on technique and style and helped him progress incredibly. Mike is a great teacher, very professional, and a super person!

Hear From TakeLessons Guitar Students
Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

Ahmad's flexibility with make up lessons is also appreciated. There have been times where my work schedule has been hectic, so I had to miss a lesson, and he was able to squeeze my lesson in later in the week. There have also been a few times where I have had follow up questions about a lesson, sent him an e-mail, and gotten a response within a few hours.
I recently wanted to get an electric guitar, but had no idea what to look for, so I asked Ahmad for some recommendations. Instead of just giving me recommendations, he offered to go to a guitar store with me to try some out. We went and he helped me pick out a great beginner electric guitar!
Ahmad is clearly passionate about music and willing to go above and beyond for his students. I highly recommend Ahmad to anyone who is thinking about taking guitar lessons."
