Sheer technique is necessary but insufficient to play an instrument well. Aural skills, that include the study of functional tonality and voice-leading are important factors that impart musicality. This is of great import if the prospective musician wants the audience to truly enjoy his or her performance !
Whether it be the 3 Rs or preparation in the performing arts, a remarkable instructor must go well beyond the subject matter at hand and help imbue the student with a spirit of wonder that, in due time, will foster enthusiasm necessary for excellence.
A child emulates and learns to communicate in his or her mother-tongue through a supporting and nurturing environment. Likewise, a student needs to be sufficiently motivated to embrace learning in a familiar supportive manner.
*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lesson take place in the living room. Driveway parking. No pets.
*** Travel Equipment ***
None; I do expect a reasonably good piano / keyboard at a student's home.

In my one hour of comprehensive teaching, students learn extensively the techniques of the violin, including tone production, vibrato, musicality and pieces of music which are chosen from standard violin literature or Suzuki books. The whole idea is to get students to look at the whole learning process as a fun activity, and very soon they acquire the ability to produce beautiful sounds, correct intonation and strong vibrato. In addition to the above, I conduct some some ear-training exercises to improve intonation as well.
About Nader
*** Lesson Details ***
Each lesson includes scales, arpeggios, etudes, duets and a new piece of music from different eras of music. I emphasize on tone production, correct intonation, accurate rhythm, reading skills, as well as an expressive and strong vibrato. My primary goal is to train students to become an excellent violinist, to play numerous compositions with the highest musicality and interpretation.
My studio at my home is a spacey room that is properly ventilated and well lit, possessing enough chairs available for both my students and possible guests. There are two music stands and an electric Suzuki piano, which can be used for accompaniment in our lessons, especially in preparation for upcoming con

More than just a passive teacher of the violin, Mr. Nader dedicates his time and energy as a full time instructor of violin, cello, and music theory. Furthermore, Mr. Nader exhibits a level of knowledge, intellect, understanding, and culture rarely seen in the world today. When one walks into his music room, one will be struck with awe at not only the amount of books in Mr. Nader's library collection, but also the wide variety of subjects ranging from Music, Music History, Biographies, Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, and many more. However, do not think that these books are just for display. Quite the contrary, one short conversation with Mr. Nader will show that he is well versed in all these subjects; a modern incarnation of the Renaissance polymath. Building off of his broad knowledge base, Mr. Nader not only teaches one how to play an instrument, he also teaches one how to cultivate oneself in Music and the culture from which it originates.
With a passion for Music and a yearn to pass on higher culture to the avid learner, Mr. Nader is the best instructor for all those who wish to learn Music along with its connection to the history, society, and culture from which it springs.

I have a big experience teaching students all levels and ages. My goal is to keep the joy of music making for each and every student, but also to make sure you learn and advance after each lesson. I would happily work with you on the music you want, combining it with the specific violin techniques you need to have in order to play the instrument well.
About Kseniya
I believe that the the music potential comes through discipline, self-motivation and passion. As a teacher, my goal is to get to know each of my students and create individually tailored lessons according to my student's needs and goals. I believe that a strong technical foundation is a key in music making - when a student feels comfortable playing the instrument , they find how much they are capable of doing and what a great joy is this music making process. This is why I put a strong emphasis on the technical aspects. They say "practice makes perfect", but in reality only perfect practice makes your playing perfect, in other words, my goal as a teacher, is to give my students all the right tools to
Lessons are taught using a Traditional method refer to students learning to read music. Whereas the Suzuki Method students learn by ear which I (might) use for very young students age 3-5. For older students I use certain aspects of the Suzuki method but definitely incorporate basic theory and note reading as early as possible.
All students will have the opportunity and are encouraged to perform in recitals.
AVAILABILITY: The calendar here is not up-to-date and still on a summer schedule. I mostly teach M-Th (depending on my schedule Fr and Sat are possible). Lessons are scheduled on an individual basis based on my schedule and student's availability. Please send me a message what days/times you are looking for, and I'll get back to you. Thanks!

I have been teaching violin for six years. Though I am classically trained, my interest in music goes far beyond classical music. I am constantly listening to various genres of music and consider myself a forever learner, loving everything in music from Prokofiev to the Flaming Lips. It is my job to help guide my students through their musical journeys, whether that is helping them get into their regional orchestra or teaching them that one song they've always wanted to learn. I teach out of the Essential Elements or Suzuki Method books. Though my lessons are fun and relaxed I will always give my students that extra push when needed. My goal is to help each student reach their personal success and to instill a love for playing music.
Tools for lessons:

Rosin
Shoulder rest or sponge
Previous method books (if you are not a first time learner)

About Phoebe
Hello! I am a classically trained violinist and violist. I got my Bachelor's degree from the Hartt School of Music in Connecticut and I am currently working towards my Master's at the University of Maryland School of Music. I started playing violin when I was 10 and since then I have also learned viola, piano, guitar, ukulele, banjo, and mandolin. I have a successfully maintained a full studio of violin and viola students and can easily adjust my teaching style to meet each student's needs.
As a performer, I have performed in professional opera and musical theatre orchestras as well as on my own in solo violin recitals. I love working on various genres of music with a special place in my heart for contemporary classical music. I have worked with students between the ages of

Working with Phoebe was GREAT. She was very easy to work with and really saw to improving my skills. She was encouraging and very positive. When I had troubles with parts (which was often), she would always have multiple suggestions as to how to practice them to work through the difficulties. She also gave me nudges along when I didn't think I could do certain things too. All in all, I had a great experience working with Phoebe and would have loved to continue to work with her if she was still in my local area.
If you're wondering why not 5 stars, that's more from my lack of experience than any issue with her. The guide says 5 stars is the "best teacher ever". She probably was the best teacher ever for me, but I'm somewhere between beginner and intermediate. Is she a good fit for an advanced student, I'm going to guess that, yes, she is, but I don't know that info personally so I went with 4.

Introduction to Proper Violin Posture
You may feel that learning the violin is all about playing the right notes at the right time. It is to an extent. Because it affects all areas of violin playing, such as tone, intonation, bow hold and stroke, as well as shifting, all violin technique is built around proper violin posture.
