About Carrie
*****I don't have a current background check through take lessons but have an active ongoing background check through another employer ******

I've been teaching and performing professionally for over 10 years. I have my BA in music and business. I have had some amazing experiences along the way. I've worked with world renowned vocal coaches, sang at Carnegie Hall, and played on various cds to raise money/awareness for charity projects. I'm grateful for all of this, but I love working with students on their music most of all. It delights me to see a student have an "aha" moment where they realize that they have what it takes to be great. I'd love to work with you, but if I don't I hope you reach your goals and have fun doing it ! ~ Carrie Jo ~

*** Lesson Details ***
I'm a laid back teacher but you will definitely learn
a lot. I just believe if it starts to not be fun, what's the point? Music isn't just about perfect theory and note placement it's about enjoyment. That's why I tailor make every lesson specifically based on my student's goals. I have students that like a more traditional approach so I use standard method books with them. I also have students that want to learn how to play by ear so we use a less traditional method and I teach them chord structures and how to move around easily on their instrument. My favorite thing to teach is vocal lessons but I love teaching piano and guitar also.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lessons are taught on an upright piano or acoustic/electric guitar. Student should bring own guitar. No pets. Waiting room out front for parents.

*** Travel Equipment ***
They need their own instrument.

*** Specialties ***
I've performed at Carnegie Hall and I've had the opportunity to work with world renowned vocal coaches. I offer that as well as techniques that I've developed to help you reach your goals quickly and with great skill !

Carrie was a great teacher for my son! It takes a special kind of person to teach my son and she did a great job at it. Unfortunately Carrie had to move and we are not able to take more lessons with her but we really enjoyed the time we had together.

Do you want to learn how to master the stage? Let's work on my "4 Elements of Stage Performance" to get you ready to rock small and big stages. Microphone technique, audience engagement, movement. Whether you're a vocalist, pianist, guitars or harpist let's get you performance ready!

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a very fun loving person and believe in creating a positive environment where students feel comfortable to be themselves. At the same time I am a stickler for details and do not allow laziness. I believe a balance of fun with excellence has allowed my students to excel far beyond their own expectations. Good results takes HARD WORK! Please do not come to lessons with the expectation to sing like Beyoncé or play piano at Carnegie Hall after 4 lessons. Mastering your voice and instrument takes equal parts of time, hard work, dedication and patience.

My teaching style is individually based.
For vocal clients, I asses their strengths and weaknesses and develop a plan to build up their weak areas while helping them find "their own voice". I focus on breathing, intonation and control which I believe are the foundation of great singing ability. I use a classical Italian based program along with pop, R&B, jazz, and rock. I have vocal coached in many languages including Spanish, Japanese and Chinese.

For piano clients I focus on strength, dexterity and precision in fingering. I also help students learn to feel the music and bring their personality and touch to each piece they are performing.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Tanisha currently teaches at her performing arts academy the White H Arts Academy. There are private instruction rooms and a lobby waiting area for parents and guests. Parents may also sit in the lesson room if desired. Private lesson rooms include a piano, speakers, and a music stand.

The White H Arts Academy also has two state of the art mirrored dance rooms with sound systems and wireless microphones for practicing stage performances or rehearsing for a big show.

*** Specialties ***
Vocals: beg to adv
Piano: beg to inter

Vocal genres are classical (opera), pop, R&B, gospel, rock, jazz, blues and musical theater. I studied voice at Berklee College of Music. Have also studied Seth Riggs SLS (Speech Level Singing) method independently, however, I am not certified. I also teach in languages other than English including Spanish, Japanese and Chinese.

Piano instruction levels I teach are basic to intermediary focusing on classical, and general accompaniment abilities.

Great teacher and loads of fun!

I've been taking lessons from Steve for almost 8 years (that in itself should say much about his instruction!). He is able to teach whatever category of music to any person at any level be it acoustic, electric, or theory. I would highly recommend Steve for any age group and for the novice or experienced player wanting to improve. After the many years learning from Steve I wouldn't think of taking lessons from anyone else!

About Philip
Guitarist Philip L. was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, where he began his musical studies at a young age. He was accepted to Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, named by the Grammy Foundation as the top performing arts high school in the nation, and after graduating, received a scholarship to attend Stetson University. Under the direction of Dr. Stephen Robinson, the head of the guitar department at Stetson University, he was able to refine his skills and learn a great deal about the interpretation of music on the guitar.
After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Music, Philip became an instructor at University High School in Orange City, Florida. There he directed the guitar program, which he built, and, outside of teaching, Philip performed professionally (guitar and voice) around Central Florida in various groups and styles
of music, including Rock, Pop, and Jazz. Since then, he was awarded a full scholarship to the University of Akron as a Teaching Assistant and later received his Master’s under the tutelage of Stephen Aron. Philip is currently working towards his Doctorate at FSU. The first step will be evaluating the student's musical and technical skill level, then I build a curriculum from that point. As an example, a beginning student would learn how to read music, play basic rhythms, use proper left and right hand technique, and the notes in the first position on individual strings. After I have evaluated the current level of the student and their musical interest, I will begin to move my curriculum around their various needs.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I will have a music stand for you to use at your lesson. I require the student to have their own instrument so that they may practice outside of their lesson.

*** Travel Equipment ***

I am active performer and freelancer. I understand how to practice and prepare for successful performance or presentation at work. How to combat stage fright.

About Anna
Professional, active musician will share the joy of playing music with the students. You can count on having fun, effective lessons, and real results fast!

I was born in Cracow, Poland. From an early age I had a deep interest in all types of music. I was encouraged by my parents and quickly developed a talent. I began my musical education at the age of seven studying piano. I studied at The Frederic Chopin Academy of music in Warsaw, Poland and then at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University where I received a Bachelor of Music Degree in French Horn performance. Later I received a Master of Music in French Horn Performance and post Master Certificate, both from the DePaul University. I am an active freelancing musician in the Chicago area. (Chamber Opera of Chicago, Northbrook Symphony Orchestra, Oak Park and Riv
er forest Orchestra, Skokie Symphony, Lira Ensemble, Highland Park).
I have been teaching piano, music theory and French horn in the Chicago area for five years. I enjoy working with both children and adults.
To broaden my knowledge about teaching I completed courses: Studio Teaching as a Career, Teaching Excellence, and Brass concepts at DePaul University.

*** Lesson Details ***
Students will learn to play piano or horn in a pleasant atmosphere. Additionally they will learn elements of music theory so they can quickly start to play on their own. This will broaden their understanding of music and they will be able play pieces they like. I have method books and studies for any level of playing, but students are welcome to bring their own. I think anyone can learn to play and I can help to achieve this dream. I recommend the book by Daniel Coyle: The Talent Code. Greatness Isn't Born. It's Grown. Here's How.

*** Studio Equipment ***
DePaul University - regular pianos available rooms reserved
At Home Studio- Casio keyboard in living room, french horn,
seating for parents.
In case of horn students they would have to have their own mouthpiece and later on their own instrument. I have breathing equipment to help with playing as well.

*** Travel Equipment ***
My method of transportation would be CTA and walking :)

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in fun and effective teaching. I teach piano, french horn, music theory, ear training. Music is fun and this is how I teach.

Anna is a great teacher. We started off with 10 lessons to give our 11 year old son a head start as he was keen to switch from Trombone to French Horn. With Anna's help, he made it! French Horn is a difficult instrument to play compared to other brass woodwind instruments, and finding Anna to help our son has been really beneficial. We highly recommend Anna and we will be signing up for more lessons. In addition, to those who are considering Online lessons, they have been great. We have been using a good webcam (Logitech from Amazon) together with Skype and it has worked out. Thank you!

Heading into my first class with Tim, I had almost no musical experience (at least for the last 15+ years). In a very casual way, he was able to get a sense of where I was and where he should start with my instruction.

I was very reluctant to take lessons at first, but my wife got me started with Tim and it was really worth it. He was accommodating to my relatively slow speed of learning and easily adapted to my own musical preferences and interests.

His studio is a great space and is located within a really cool, historic building. The sound is fantastic and it's a comfortable space to practice in.

I highly recommend Tim for lessons - especially for adults who may not be able to dedicate hours a day to practicing. I took lessons weekly for three months and I got a great foundation for practicing. Once my life settles down a little, I definitely hope to go back.
