I started working with Mona at Oberlin College Conservatory, and continued working with her through video chat during the Covid-19 stay-at-home orders. She was basically my first private instructor, and she really helped me a lot. I'd gotten as far as I could with self-teaching and poor public school music programs, and was doing my best to keep up with the Oberlin Arts and Sciences Orchestra. She managed to help me work on my challenging orchestra music while instructing me on foundational technique (such as bow control, sound quality, and hand form) that I missed out on when I first started playing. She was always friendly and flexible, and gave out a good ratio of praise and critique. I'm going to miss her at Oberlin next year!

I have experience teaching a wide range of students from young to adult beginners, as well as advanced students preparing for music programs at the college level. I am classically trained with Masters of Music in violin performance from Rice University (2013) and Bachelors in Music in violin performance from Florida State University (2011), however, if your interest lies outside classical music, we can work on other genres of music as well! I am currently Assistant Concertmaster of Houston Ballet Orchestra since 2014, and perform frequently with Houston Grand Opera and work as a substitute musician for Houston Symphony. I have over 10 years teaching experience of private lessons in both violin and viola. I have also worked as a chamber coach and sectional coach for Houston Youth Symphony for the past 5 years. I am trying to create more of an online teaching presence with the current situation with the corona virus and ...

I wish I could say many things but one thing I would love to share is that Ms. Rachel is the beat teacher anyone could ask for she really shows she cares, tells you your mistake, and Ms. Rachel helps even when it’s already good she tries to make it great not just good!!
Charlotte
I have been taking lessons from Rachel for almost two years. She usually teaches me in her home but we now do online lessons. Rachel helps me with my middle school orchestra pieces and we also follow the Suzuki series and music theory. She is patient and understands how to help me become a better violin player.
Samuel
She likes to focus on the positive and is never negative. She’s always supportive and always takes time away to help me no matter what.

I'm a violinist with 10 years of teaching experience. I am working with students of all ages/ levels. At the same time, the basis is a professional approach with detailed instructions.
