Serena isn't only a talented pianist, she's a skilled instructor as well. She teaches everything you need to understand piano theory, improve finger strength and agility and acquire the best hand posture.

Serena tailors her lessons towards her student. Depending on my weekly progress, she recommended a detailed routine to consolidate my weaknesses and push me to improve.

Finally, Serena is eloquent and friendly. She explains things in a simple manner and does her best to understand you, your lifestyle and your objectives, all to provide the best experience . And she totally nails it.

Thank you Serena! :D

Serena is great. She is patient but pushes you just enough to see results. She helps you with singing technique as well as with techniques to make the song more genuine and authentic.

She is a great teacher. She gave me several tips and exercises that were very helpful. She was very understanding when I had some computer glitches. Very friendly also. Highly recommend!

He goes above the allotted time to ensure your understanding of instructions, and maintains a professional demeanor at all times, even with wit in his oral approach. As a teenager, I learned to play figured bass on a harpsichord in baroque ensembles for many years. My knowledge is classically informed and branches out into every modern style.
Harmony and music theory should be fun and enlightening at every level. It opens the doors to what are sometimes mysteries to our ears. It has enabled me to enjoy being able to play any piece I like by ear after only one or two listens. Understanding how music really works is very satisfying and I very much enjoy sharing that knowledge with my students and watching them become proficient in each discipline

"When I was third trumpet Dr D was the Drum Major. Our marching and field show bands under NY legend David Bournazian won many local and state competitions. I was just happy to be part of it, but Dr. D was leading it. He has deep knowledge of music theory and is equally expert at improvisation. His ability to communicate theory to beginners or higher level learners is amazing. He has the unique skill of being able to make complex concepts seem simple with illustrative examples until you find yourself starting to 'get it'. Highly recommended."

"When looking for an instructor what is best to find is knowledge of the subject. When it comes to Mr. Newbold, he delivers; Whether it be current or past. He has had outstanding experience with acclimating to every student's needs and learning style. He provides a great environment/atmosphere which is critical to learning. If his credentials don't speak enough, then his personal musical talent should."

But he did sit with me and show me how to do it myself and I was happy I learned something. It wasn't great but if I had the desire to be an arranger then I would definitely study more with Jeremy."

"I play in a rock band that wanted to add some Sinatra type jazz songs to our repertoire. I was tasked to play bass with which I had very little experience. I decided to take some lessons with Gary to learn a little jazz theory and technique. He was a wonderful teacher. He focused in on exactly what I needed quickly and pointed me toward resources that I could use to improve. Despite my limited abilities, Gary was always patient and displayed good humor. When I needed him to write a bass line for me quickly so that I could take it on vacation, he made the time to make sure that I had what I needed. I enjoyed our lessons and recommend him highly. Gary is a teacher who truly cares about his students."
