I have been playing guitar for over a decade and have tons of performance experience gigging in a local rock band. Combine that with a curriculum that starts with fundamentals and expands quickly into playing your favorite songs and you have a great start to beginning or expanding your guitar playing abilities.

Currently, I have been playing various community theater gigs across the northwest suburbs in Chicago. I own my own home studio and I think it's important to learn fundamentals in technique and music theory but if all you want to do is rock, I'm fine with that.

I do not teach guitar for readers or cover artists. If you want to learn how to find your own style and build on what is unique and valuable in what you play, I can help you.
I typically can't offer much to an already advanced player as they've already acquired and embedded habits I will train less experienced players to either avoid or incorporate from a creative rather than copy-cat methodology.
Students will be taught "Expressive Practicing", a technique emphasizing skills earned through inspired playing. This is a highly individualized method based on the students instinctive capabilities such as having an natural "ear". Fundamentals are taught as applied through a run-before-you-walk set of exercises and structured improvisation techniques.
About Richard
I can't wait to work with you! I am passionate about the subjects I teach, and find nothing can compare to seeing a student "get it", so they may too enjoy the passion that comes from learning and doing something they love. Everything I teach I've learned most completely by doing as a Profession

I started to learn guitar from Jeff when I was in the 5th grade and I have never regretted it. He has helped me improve so much that I can now solo off of songs and dissect popular songs to learn by myself. It's always so fun to play guitar with him, and he is always encouraging. He also teaches at my home which is really convenient. I always look forward to lessons to show him how I have improved. He is also really funny and entertaining. He has a lot of knowledge on guitar and music in general. Guitar has been a big part of my life and so has Jeff. I owe him all my thanks for teaching me how to enjoy and utilize the guitar beyond just learning chords and progressions."

Paul is patient and truly took interest in me getting better at the guitar. He would check up on practicing after the lesson and was always available for any questions.
Pauls a great teacher. I highly recommend him for lessons."
