I've been teaching guitar for 6 years and love seeing my students discover their own musicality and style through guitar! I specialize in teaching school-age kids, teens, adult beginners, and secondary instrument learners.

As a beginner, you’ll learn to keep your strumming steady while changing between 2-5 basic chords within a few lessons. You will find in just a few lessons that the songs you know and love are actually accessible and playable! With continued practice, you’ll start to create your own songs using the chords you know, and you will learn more complex chords, strumming patterns, fingerpicking, transposing, and reading melodies on the staff.

I have been playing guitar for just over 10 years now. I typically begin with guitar when writing a song and love playing along to just about anything. With diligent practice, a new student on the guitar can expect to be able to play basic solos, read tablature and chord charts after just a few weeks. I particularly enjoy working with singer/songwriters who have intermediate experience on guitar because I have a handful of shortcuts and ways of thinking, that connect all the dots and cultivate musical proficiency in any genre. As with all instruments, the ability to replicate what you hear in music you listen to, is the most useful thing I can teach you. This is done with ear training and music theory (pattern based learning).

I have played guitar for 5 years and am currently studying at the Berklee College of Music as a guitar principal! I will take time to get to know where students are in their guitar playing, whether they have never touched the instrument before or are simply looking to learn more. This will help students learn guitar in an efficient and effective manner, and will get students to work on what they need to work on. Along with playing techniques, I am also well versed in music theory and can teach concepts of music theory during lessons. I am excited to teach the incredibly rewarding art of playing guitar!

I want students to excel the fastest they can on guitar. Though I know it is important to let students learn at their own pace, I will never cease to challenge them through difficult pieces or exercises. I will develop plans and keep track of progress so that students and I can stay organized and ensure the learning is fluent. I will direct lessons based on what the student wants to learn most and what genres of music they are interested in. I also change the structure of lessons based on how the student learns. The basics I want students to learn from my lessons are basic chords, fretboard knowledge and music theory, finger-picking styles, pick and strumming techniques, left-hand techniques, and most importantly I want to teach students how to listen. I will train students ears through ear training exercises and songs. I firmly believe the better the student’s ears can get, the better the musician they can be.
