Come and play the violin! There is so much music out there, and if you can even sort of sing a melody, there is a way to get it into your fingers. If you are already playing and want to improve, or expand what you have, you can go for it!

About Donna

I love teaching and sharing my love for music. I have taught violin/fiddle to students as young as 3, and as old as 92, and had fun with all of my students. I love seeing the enthusiasm grow in absolute beginners, adults as well as children, and encouraging them to find their own joy in music. I h

I use the Suzuki Violin Method and the ABCs of Violin Method, but am willing to work with other method books as well. I have developed extensive supplemental resources that I'll use with any curriculum.

I also work with orchestra/band students to help them succeed, usually taking a break from the method books to focus on that season's music.

I can prepare you for contests and auditions, help you work in a small or large ensemble, grow you as a soloist, or help you learn a new style.

Beginning students will gain a solid grasp of all the "essentials": basic theory, sight reading skills, counting, and technique. As soon as you have these, you have a lot of freedom with what you want to work on!

I take kids, adults, and teens. I have experience teaching kids with disabilities including Down's syndrome, trauma/PTSD, ADHD, cerebral palsy, and more.

Hi! I'm Sylvia--I play piano, violin, and viola professionally, and guitar, flute, and clarinet amateurly. I'm in school to become a music therapist, since I've seen how powerful music can be in treating a huge variety of illnesses, both physical and mental. My teaching core values are: -praise

Leanna is incredible. She's kind and patient and extremely easy to work with, which is rare for someone with such deep experience in a field. One thing that continued to stand out and amaze me is her unbelievable ear. Even in remote sessions via zoom, she could tell immediately if one note in a chord or progression was off, and helped me fix it. I've heard the same from other students of hers.

If you're a serious student, considering music as a career, or in any competitive sense, Leanna is an irreplaceable ally with the skill to push you further than you may have thought possible. Absolutely recommend.
Zachary
As a beginner, taking lessons with Leanna has offered a structured approach to learning the fundamentals of piano, along with developing good technique, which has made the process less daunting. After only a couple of lessons, I feel more confident not only in my playing, but also in understanding elements of music theory (like reading sheet music) that I expected to be more difficult to grasp.
Sonya T.
Excellent goal-oriented teacher! Leanna is able to provide effective feedback and instruction to an advanced student like myself. I was impressed with the detailed coaching provided in the online environment.
