I teach everything from beginner to advanced, basics to shifting, vibrato, theory, and technique. I teach classical, religious, fiddle, and pop. I also teach group ensembles, trios, quartets, etc. I help students with their school orchestral music and audition pieces also.

About Erin
My name is Erin. I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music, with a concentration in Violin. I began studying violin at the age of six. I have performed with small chamber ensembles, orchestras, quartets, and trios. I enjoy playing for churches and weddings, and love teaching.

I began teaching beginner to advanced Violin and Viola in April of 2001 in NC. I moved to California in the fall of 2008. Since moving to California I have extended my teaching to beginner Piano and Cello also. I have taught students ages 3 to 87 how to play and enjoy music on a personal level. My experience includes leading sectionals for middle school orchestra, organizing and instructing small ensembles, and organizing student recitals. Student recitals I arranged once or twice a year to showcase the
students' growth and abilities, and to provide an opportunity to give back to family and friends whose sacrifices and support enable the students to succeed.

I teach because I love music and I believe God has given me a gift. Playing and teaching help me to use my talent for His glory. I love working with people and I love how music enables people of all ages to open up and express themselves in a positive way, no matter what life throws their way. I believe music teaches discipline, builds self esteem; helps set and achieve goals; and positively affects and enhances other curricular endeavors.

My teaching philosophy is to always have fun while learning, to set attainable goals for the student, to learn through encouragement and discipline, and to help students come to love music on a personal level. I focus on the character of each student and their goals and desires to see that the student and/or parents are satisfied. Teaching is a privilege for me that I do not take for granted.

*** Lesson Details ***
I offer half hour, forty-five minute, sixty minute lessons, or longer on a weekly basis, but I do Not offer bi-weekly lessons. My lessons begin with the fundamentals of music. I believe a firm foundation in rhythm and reading is important because a student may switch musical instruments one day and the basics are universal and necessary. I have a deep love and appreciation for music which I hope to instill in my students as well. I am strict in the sense that I like students to polish their pieces before moving on. I like to keep them focused on playing well, not just playing.

A typical lesson will begin with scales to warm up, a review of the previous week's material, and a new assignment. Students will memorize pieces, be proficient in scales and rhythms, and all the while laughing and having a great time. I am known with my students for my creative analogies and flexibility to try new things in order to adapt to the students strengths and weaknesses. My students look forward to coming to their lesson, and that is very rewarding as a teacher.

I primarily use the Suzuki method for Violin and Viola, because it offers progressive steps to mastering technique, style, and musicality. My curriculum includes the use of Winning Rhythms, Wohlfahrt studies, All for Strings Theory, Essentials for Strings, and many more beginner and advanced studies; including shifting and double stops.

I love music and I love working with people; teaching is just icing on the cake. I look forward to helping you achieve your goals and discover your talents and I hope we can learn together. I look forward to meeting you!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Music Stand and Keyboard

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the student to have their instrument, and necessary accessories ie: rosin, shoulder rest, strings, books, and music stand.

*** Specialties ***
I teach Music on Violin, Viola, and Piano, as well as beginner cello. I am very creative in my teaching methods, though I use the Suzuki Method primarily for string instruments. I believe learning should be fun. I teach all the fundamentals of music from the beginning: counting rhythm, scales, reading music, theory.

Violin was my first instrument, and it served as the foundation for everything else I did in music. Playing the violin teaches a high degree of musical sensitivity and I'm always excited to cultivate these qualities in any student that wants to learn. When I teach violin, I try to tailor to the needs of the student while teaching...

-Good intonation, which is one of the fundamental challenges of the instrument
-Playing by ear, an especially important skill for an instrument that can be used in almost every type of music on the planet
-Vocal phrasing, which is learning to use all the parts of the instrument to make it "sing."

About Jonathan
I studied music therapy and music theory at Temple University from '06-'10. Learned a lot. Then again, I learned even more teaching at a school for kids with learning disabilities and working as a traveling street performer. Once you see the world and work with some unexpected challenges, you learn how to open up and knuckle down at the same time!

I am currently a full-time YouTube Creator, sidelining in cover bands and a solo act. Teaching is a big part of what I do online so I see my work as a private teacher as 'research' for the lessons I create. Although I'm firmly grounded in a classical music training, there's nothing you can ask about that I won't try to figure out. My favorite thing about teaching is using unexpected questions to develop new ideas that I then integrate into my original compositions. Check out my intro to the B
lues Raga video if you want to hear a good story about what I mean.

Recently I've had several articles published by the TakeLessons Blog. Check out my most recent post here.

I've taught violin for over ten years. I promise you'll have an exciting first lesson! I've been a violinist for Glee (1000 Miles), Kevin Olusola (Pentatonix, "Heart Attack"), and Perla Batalla (Leonard Cohen). I have a BFA degree in Violin Performance/Composition from the California Institute of the Arts.

Our lessons will focus on strengthening technique and sight-reading skills first and foremost, and we'll get you started to being the violinist you've always wanted to look and sound like.

About Andy
I am Andy. I am a graduate of the California Institute of the Arts with a BFA degree in Composition/Violin Performance. I will be attending school again in the Fall to get my teaching certificate to teach in the public school system. My violin playing has been featured on Glee, with Kevin Olusola (Pentatonix), and guitar featured on shows like Rachel Ray and Dr. Phil. My main passions are songwriting, and collaborating with other great musicians all over the country.

I have been a private music teacher for the past 8 years and it has been an extremely rewarding journey. My students love their lessons with me, and parents love that I am patient and more open-minded than most music teachers out there. Students say I am friendly and funny, and fun to learn with. My teaching style on the violin is centered around the Suzuki method, but I l
eave a lot of flexibility to cater lessons around your interests. If you ask to play a certain song, I will find a way to help you play it. Every goal is achievable with practice, dedication, and fun!

Andy has been teaching my son piano for the last two years. My son always looks forward to going to piano with Andy and he has made so much progress. Andy is very communicative about my son's progress and ideas he has for new goals. Andy is very good at helping my son keep his enthusiasm for piano. He is also sensitive about where my son is at in terms of what he needs to strengthen or if any adjustments need to be made. I highly recommend Andy, not only as a music teacher, but as a person with whom you would want yourself or children to spend time with each week.

Hands Down the best violin teacher in the Sacramento area! From the flexibility she has with time to the amazing way she teaches. I am a beginner who couldn’t even read music. I told her that was what I was most concerned about. I was able to learn not only to read music but also the background to the music I was learning. To me that was key to learning. I enjoy teaching and sharing my passion for music with students of all ages. Currently, I teach students from ages 4 to 66 in the summer and have taught elementary school students during the school year through a music program I started in 2017 called Virtuoso. Music has shaped me into who I am today and has given me some of the best experiences I’ve ever had. I am a classically-trained musician, so if you are looking to excel in classical music, feel free to send me a message. My goal as a teacher is to make sure that all of my students succeed and reach their full potential. Let’s get started on your musical journey!

About Wilson
I started playing the violin when I was 3.5 and the viola when I was 14 years old. I have been teaching both violin and viola for four years now and am excited to have new students! Last summer, I was selected to join the world-renowned National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA), performing for audiences in Taipei, Shanghai, Beijing, Seoul, and Daejeon under the direction of the great Michael Tilson Thomas and piano soloist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. In high school, I was selected to join the National Association for Music Education's (NAfME's) All-National Honor Symphony Orchestra. I was also the principal violist for the Eastern Senior District Symphony Orchestra and the New England Conservatory Preparatory school’s Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2017, I appeared on a Nike commercial featuring basketball star Kyrie I
rving’s new line of basketball shoes. In 2018, I performed in a small chamber group on the National Basketball Association’s “Players Only” show, a live national television broadcast. After growing up in the Suzuki program beginning at the age of three-and-a-half years old, I spent every Saturday at the New England Conservatory’s Preparatory School from first grade until I graduated high school. No matter what age, I am ready to help you excel in your musical journey!
