I like to tailor my lessons to the needs of each student. I can teach all styles from, classical, to jazz to fiddle and contemporary or rock. Whatever the style, I strive to focus on good musicianship, theory and technique developing right hand dexterity and the bow arm along with the left hand and vibrato. I use several different methods depending on the age and ability of the student.

I've been playing the violin for 16 years, and enjoy playing every genre! I was classically trained in the Suzuki Method and am a graduate of Berklee College of Music. I enjoy giving my students creative freedom while effectively helping them achieve their goals. Music is such a wonderful language that we all have access to and is a miracle that exists in our daily lives! So let's get together and learn to make music!

Tailored to each student’s learning progress and needs, my lessons include practice tasks based on pedagogical principles from both the traditional approach and the Suzuki method. My top priorities in teaching include good posture and confidence to perform. I emphasize the importance of aural development by listening to recordings carefully to recognize fundamentals, such as tunes and rhythms, as well as more detailed aspects, such as articulations and tone quality. I also focus on performance practices and interpretations of each musical composition. With a PhD in Ethnomusicology and a Masters in Violin Performance, I love teaching everything from Celtic fiddle tunes to classical concertos. I am a Suzuki certified instructor and registered with the Suzuki Association of the Americas.

What I love about teaching is that moment when the student is making beautiful music and is enjoying themselves. My lessons are fun and methodical. I focus on what the student needs and how they can achieve their goals with the instrument.
