I am interested in teaching you what you need and want to learn so that you achieve your dreams. Please note that I only take serious students who will practice at least 30 minutes every day or 35 a day 6 days a week at home. I would like you to keep a log of how much you practice. This will enable you to make progress through the curriculum as you will be a beginner for the first 3.3 years, an intermediate for the next 3.3 years, and then an advanced student for 3.3 years. I will give you assignments to do over the week, and the next week we will go over them, learn something new and get new assignments. It takes 10,000 hours of practice to become an expert!

Hi there, my name is Patrick, and I am now a new resident of the Asheville area. I am a music teacher of Trumpet, Piano, Voice and Sound Recording with more than 20 plus years of experience. Below, I relate some of my experiences and philosophies as a teacher of music since 2002.

*** Lesson Details ***
Trumpet Lessons
I have worked with adults and children, with beginners, and with more experienced players looking for a push or a new direction. I have developed many different teaching methods based on what each of my students wants to get out of lessons. The heart of most lessons I teach is learning to play or understand songs. Usually, I rely on my students to select the songs they wish to study, which I then transcribe to make personal arrangements fitted to their abilities. Of course, I will suggest or recommend songs at times.
I also supply relevant exercises and music theory to accelerate the learning process.

Piano Lessons
I differentiate between concepts and skills, while stressing the importance of mastering both. As important as it is to understand the intervalic relationships in something like the major scale, this knowledge does little for the pianist if she or he cannot pick out the notes to the different scales in real time. In observing that each person demonstrates unique learning patterns and abilities, I have learned that some people will come to understand the conceptual through mastery of memorized tasks while some will succeed with technical mastery only after achieving some conceptual understanding.
Voice Lessons
Having first begun singing at 22 years old, I know first hand that it’s never to late to start singing. Having some experience in school but not fully as a professional till in my 20′s, I have learned from some of the top professionals in the South Florida area. My first vocal lessons was with Gloria Estefan’s back up singer Jon Secada. Jon has his first hit “Just Another Day” that stayed at #1 for several weeks. His one lesson really helped me use singing in my gigging around town. From that time on, I have used this technique for all my students. focusing on JUST BREATHING, has helped many of my students.

Teaching Sound Recording
Working in the early 1980s with recorded music and computers, I was introduced to the new wave of recording at its birth. At Miami Dade Community College, I taught and assisted students in Composition, Sound Development, and Sound Recording using Mac computers and PC’s. As of this day, I personally teach recording in Logic Pro, Bias Peak and Mastering using Waves plug ins and having finished products in Mp4 format and or CD’s.

I started out as an opera singer and eventually went on to play the harp, guitar, ukulele, and have experimented with many other instruments by ear. Having over 20 years experience as a musician, I have had a natural inclination to play music by hearing it and repeating what I've heard--adding my own flavor into the mix as I've progressed. Hello everyone! My name is Amanda O., and I am a Harpist, Voice teacher, Therapeutic Musician, Life Coach, Alternative Medicine Practitioner, and Vocalist who has over 21 years of experience as a classical vocalist and performer. By 8 years old, I began training as an opera singer and have merged my love of classical vocals with the therapeutic harp. I have experience playing therapeutic harp music at over 30 different facilities around San Diego, such
as Narzerath House, Bay View, Bella Vista, Monte Vista Village, and La Mesa Health Care Center, as well as making In-Home visits. I also have experience playing therapeutic music at over 20 facilities in Oahu, Hawaii, where I currently reside. These include independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care facilities! I also have experience playing for the actively dying for hospice and consider it an honor to be of musical assistance for people in transition.

I absolutely LOVE music theory. To me, theory is so vital to a well-rounded musical education. My teaching style totally depends upon what each particular student needs.

About Becca
I am a friendly, outgoing, and passionate music teacher! I play the harp and piano and absolutely love to spread the joy of music. I started playing the harp because my grandmother was a harpist and I thought it was the most beautiful instrument. After all these years, I still love the amazing sound of the harp. I completed my degree in Harp Performance from University of Denver's Lamont School of Music where I received a well-rounded education in both performance and academics (including theory, history, and technology). Becca is a wonderful music teacher. She taught piano to both of my girls (ages 8 and 10). She was patient and inspiring. They couldn't wait to see her every week!

I am a beginner harp student at the age of 64, and also a Professor with fairly high expectations. I wasn't sure what to expect from a young teacher like Becca. Within minutes I could tell she is a natural at teaching the harp. What impressed me the most was that she understands every person learns differently. She is sensitive and thus listens to the student's comments and intuitively knows how to respond in the best way. She also has a lot of patience - being a perfectionist I wanted to repeat over and over certain movements and Becca was right there with me, giving me fresh guidance along the way. I learned so much with her and will always remember our lessons with gratitude.
