The joy of being a guitarist is that it is possible to play any type of music. Whether you like Bach or Bob Dylan (I sure do!) you can play either and anything in between. I try to do just that. To my students who love all kinds of music, I love teaching all kinds of music!

About Owen
owenburton.com

I am a university trained guitarist whose goal is to pass my love for music down to my students. Most of my students, whether child or adult, start as absolute beginners. Some have gone on to win auditions in collegiate music programs, while others simply gain the ability to play their favorite songs. I have become the guitarist I am today because my teachers kept me inspired and having fun from the very beginning. Passing this on means each lesson entails a balance of playing, listening, technique, stories, and laughs!

As a self-taught guitarist who later went to college for music and now runs a guitar curriculum blog, I tailor all my lessons to the student's age, ability level, music interests, and preferred learning style. No matter what Riffs, Parts, Changes, and Improvisational skills you want to learn, I can teach you, but more than that, I can teach you how guitarists teach themselves.

About Richard
Rick's been teaching Guitar, Banjo, and Ukulele at his home, and at the Mount Olivet School of Music in South Minneapolis, ever since graduating with a degree in Music from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2003. He also teaches traveling lessons to students in the south and southwest metro areas. Rick plays around town in 3 bands and also does the occasional Musical Pit Orchestra and Wedding gig. He also taught at Dayjams Rock Music camp in St. Paul for the five summers of its existence. In his spare time he writes YA Stories and Musicals, as well as running a Songwriting and Music Theory Blog about Tonal Trends in popular music, and a Guitar Curriculum Blog based on Karate Belts.

*** Lesson Details ***
Depending on student interest, lessons can consist of Ear Training, Improv/Jamming, learning Popular Guitar Riffs/Changes/Parts/
Etc., Note Reading, the Music Biz, and learning about all the cool new Music Technologies of the day. Rick also loves to transcribe any and all music the student wants to learn but for which they cannot find the sheet music or internet tab. Rick prefers to teach what the student wants to learn, but if they're not sure what that is, he helps them figure that out.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Wifi, Computer, and iPhone. I make good use of technology during lessons. Much used apps include Guitarbots, Slow Down Music Trainer, TabPro, and the Guitar Toolkit (metronome, tuner, etc.)

*** Travel Equipment ***
Music Stand (if needed), and iPhone tech.

*** Specialties ***
Music Theory and Songwriting.

Richard was willing to introduce my 4 year old granddaughter to the instrument and he helped her with the most basic aspects of playing - how to hold it (he adjusted the strap to fit her properly) how to strum and how to use her left hand on the frets, etc. He was clear, concise, encouraging and patient!

I am an experienced guitar teacher of 10+ years. I specialize in Classical guitar, teaching finger style techiniques in the style of Christopher Parkening. I also teach Folk guitar including reading tab and chords. I encourage my students to learn to read their notes. Most of my students learn more than one style and have gone on to perform for their school's talent shows and public recitals.

About Sara
Hi! My name is Sara. My studio began in 2000, teaching one violin student. I took a break and went to college to earn my A.A. in Music and my Piano Performance Certificate from Riverside Community College in California. I graduated Great Distinction and was on the Dean's list. I received many piano and academic scholarships. While in college I started my studio in Riverside California teaching Piano to an autistic child. I taught him 3 times a week and made exceptional progress. I enjoyed it so much I started teaching full time in 2008 teaching piano, harp, violin, voice, guitar, flute and clarinet. Soon I had 50 students and created a 501 (c) (3) non-profit music school. My students and I perform for the public, including nursing homes. The performances are important for the students progress as well as the Piano Guild where students are
adjudicated by judges in a non competitive environment. Moving back to my hometown, I am excited to meet new students!

My daughter has been working with Sara for over a year and has progressed so much. She is a prolific songwriter at 12, so it's important that she understands good theory and possesses a strong and proper skill-set. Sara has done incredibly well for providing this for my daughter. Worth every dime!!!

My lessons are very adaptive and cater to your styles. While I specialize in rock, blues, and jazz, I can also help develop skills in classical and world music.

About Julian
Hi! I'm Julian. While I specialize in guitar, I also know my way around keys, bass, and a drumkit. I've been teaching guitar for about 11 years, and have spent a few years teaching out of music shops. My style is adaptive and fluid to suit a wide range of desires and skill levels, but in addition to guitar technique you can expect to learn a good deal about music theory. I love teaching music more than anything and would rather do nothing else. I come from a blues/rock background and studied jazz guitar and music production at Shenandoah University. If you think we'd be suitable for one another, don't hesitate to contact me!

Guitar lessons with me are designed to help students achieve their musical goals. I place high importance on building student self confidence, through improvisation, composition, and technique building exercises. I also place high importance on the use of technology in lessons (beat making, recording techniques, amplifier/effect pedal usage, etc.)

About Anthony
Anthony has a great passion for working with students and helping them to succeed in achieving their own musical goals. As a teacher, Anthony’s primary motivation is to foster creativity, confidence, and independence in his students. Through a focus on musicianship, music theory, and technique, Anthony hopes to cultivate student’s abilities to learn and comprehend music quickly and efficiently. Over the course of several lessons, students will ideally develop methods to create music ways that reflect their personal voices. Anthony encourages his students to be confident improvisors as well as performers of written music and to make use of both acoustic and electric media.
Beyond teaching, Anthony is a composer, guitarist, and technologist based in Southern California. Through his compositions, Anthony explores questions relating to gestu
re, modularity, and metaphorical representation. Over his career as a composer, Anthony has developed a voice that focuses on both intricate systems and improvisatory practices. Combining the sound worlds of both acoustic and electronic instruments in his compositions, Anthony invents ideas to resonate with audiences of all types. His pieces have been performed internationally, with premieres in the United States, Italy, The Netherlands, and Spain. Anthony’s most recent project is a solo electronic rock show, that used interactive technologies, for real-time beats and effects – Songs For A New Era

We will explore whatever it is that you are excited about, regardless of if you have never picked up an instrument or are a seasoned player! Whether you are curious to learn more about improvisation, ear training, harmony, music theory, compositional techniques, or anything else, I am here to help you get the most out of your musical experience in a way that is fun, engaging, and informative as well. My stylistic reach is broad and includes everything from jazz to R&B to classic rock to pop to hip-hop to funk to reggae to world music and beyond; no matter where you want to go musically, I will do all that I can to support you in getting there!

About Dayne
Greetings! I am Dayne, a prolific 24-year-old electronic music producer, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist from Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas (I moved back here about a month ago after having been based for the past few years in the magical Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts). I have been playing music for as long as I can remember and have explored computer-based music production for a decade now. From 2012 to 2014, I pursued music studies at Berklee College of Music, focusing primarily on jazz guitar and electronic music production. After I got out of school, I briefly took a job in audio hardware and software development with SONiVOX, a subsidiary company of industry leader inMusic.

In 2014, I initiated my solo project Starseed. Since that time, I have released 8 albums and a number of singles as an independent artist; have sh
ared the stage with renowned acts such as Govinda, Jade Cicada, Jackson Whalan, and others; have offered performances at a wide variety of venues and festivals across the planet, including GeoParadise Tribal Gathering, MindBodySpirit Festivals, Frendly Gathering, MycoSymbiotics Mushroom and Arts Festival, Mystery Trance Festival, and many more; and have been featured in major blogs such as Jamsphere and Emerging Indie Bands. My intention with the Starseed project involves receiving and transmitting consciousness-expanding, soul-stirring vibrations to stimulate, activate, and align the listener on all levels--the physical, the mental, the emotional, the spiritual, the astral, the etheric--to attune the listener to his or her unlimited eternal nature. I am always seeking to push the boundaries of creative expression, to honor the sacredness of play, and to pay homage to the timeless, infinite, and multidimensional dance of creation.

I look forward to exploring whatever it is that you are excited about, regardless of your prior musical experience! Whether you are curious to learn more about improvisation, ear training, harmony, music theory, compositional techniques, instrumental/vocal techniques, performance, or anything else, I am here to help you get the most out of your musical experience in a way that is fun, engaging, and informative as well. My stylistic reach is broad and includes everything from jazz to R&B to classic rock to pop to hip-hop to funk to reggae to classical to world music and beyond; no matter where you want to go musically, I will do all that I can to support you in getting there!

I have played guitar for over 15 years and I have been in many types of bands. From acoustic to rock to Indian music, from a full band to street performing to gigs in cafe, I have experience in many different styles. I am passionate about teaching and getting someone to be better in guitar playing because I have been there. I understand how it is what it takes to get to the next level. Whether you are beginner or not, I know that feeling when you saw someone who can play so well and you say to yourself "I want to play like that!" Also I am laid back and just love music, so if you think I am the guy then hit me up! Have a blessed day!

About Nat
I love Jesus and I love music and I love people! Just spent 11 months travelling around the world doing mission works with my guitar. I first hand experienced how music changes people and it is more than just a art, it is a way to connect with others. Super chill and got tons of dad jokes, I am excited to meet whoever wants to jam with me!
