I've taken lessons from a number of double bass teachers. I've never found an instructor who gave me exactly what I needed until Geoff. He's the consummate professional double bass player and teacher. Geoff is intelligent, courteous, patient, humorous and above all knowledgeable. So, if you're a serious upright bass student, I would, without hesitation, recommend Geoff Bowater.

I have been playing the cello for 20 years and started teaching in 2010. I use a hybrid Suzuki method, that introduces learning music a little earlier. For more advanced cellists, we concentrate on advanced methods and etudes to refine the craft.

Excellent first lesson! Douglas was very patient, he corrected my daughter hand positions and show her the proper way to play the cello. He explained things clearly and made the lesson fun!

Doug is great - he's patient, supportive, positive, and provides enough structure to make me feel like I'm progressing while understanding the challenges of an adult student's schedule.
Jacob
Doug was on time (early, in fact!), super helpful, pointed out some minor tweaks that make a huge difference to my playing (things that I never learned in my previous cello lessons) and has been really accommodating. He's lent me some of his books and has offered to transcribe some songs I want to work on! Thanks!

I'm sorry, I cannot handle this Instructor for my children. She wasn't me but she's not quite the people person I expected. Her personality is not a good match for a high school tutor. Unfortunately her English is not good enough. Her accent is entirely too strong. Also she does not know enough Geometry to help my kids.

"Mr. Anderson has been a great influence on my life. As a cello teacher, Mr. Anderson has a wealth of knowledge ranging from the making of the cello to the history of composers to just random facts. Mr. Anderson has been my teacher from the 6th grade to my senior year. During those 6 years, he helped me grow into a great cello player that as a senior, I was able to play a solo with my school orchestra as a senior capstone. He, also, understood, that during this time, not only is his job to teach me cello but also to help and guide me into a better person. I have had many great and amazing teachers in high school and college and Mr. Anderson is among the best. I will never forget those 6 years and will fondly look back at these formative years."

Is There Such Thing as a Left-Handed Cello? How to Play as a Leftie

Handedness is the sense that one hand is more dexterous or coordinated compared to the other. Researchers usually determine an individual’s handedness by observing which hand is used to write or eat. Although the causes of handedness are not fully understood, about 10% of the population is left handed or ambidextrous according to Dr. M.K. Holder, a researcher and specialist on handedness. Many left handed students wonder if they will need a specialized instrument in order to learn to play …
