While I am still a student myself learning at the college level, I have a lot to offer to beginner and intermediate players looking to better their technique, reading abilities, posture, tone, and or overall musical knowledge. I've been playing for almost 18 years now, and through my own studies, I've learned that it's important to have a teacher that truly believes in you and wants to see you succeed. I want to be that for younger students just starting out or trying to find their way in music.

About Josh

Hi, my name is Joshua L. I'm a 21-year-old cellist from Chicago, IL. I've been studying cello for almost 18 years! When I started, I was heavily into classical, but I loved all the artistic ideas that contemporary music had to offer, so I figured out a way to fuse my love for both into something I

Thomas was incredibly flexible and punctual with our lesson times. Through three years of lessons with Thomas, I was able to develop key technical skills and confidence in my playing. He takes his time when I run into difficult passages and is incredibly encouraging. Definitely recommend!

My lessons are intended to actively guide each in their study of cello by developing the critical thinking necessary to read and perform classical music and to develop an understanding of theory and fundamental technique.

My cello studio is also a place of learning and cultural engagement. Classical music, and especially playing a string instrument, yields innumerable rewards in terms of personal, psychological, and intellectual development. My lessons are unique in that I go to the core of matters of technique and musicality, not shying away from questions on "how xxxx works" or "why should it sound xxxx way," etc.

I am a caring and reasonable teacher with a record of results-driven progress and improvement on cello. Teaching music, and opening up this long, rich, historical tradition to students is something that I enjoy sharing.

Students can look forward to getting acquainted with the cello- from posture and properly handling the instrument, note-reading, and playing their first songs with the bow.

About Lisa C.

After playing the violin for over 20 years, Lisa was inspired to share the gift of music with others by her teacher, Susanna Sonnenberg. I think Lisa is a wonderful instructor who provides clear instruction and also knows pedagogy. She starts with a step-by-step approach to build a foundation. I am an older adult and her warmth and good sense of humor help, too.

I couldn't ask for more in a teacher. I am a newbie to the cello and Lisa made me feel very comfortable and also, her teaching style is very clear, logical, starting with the basics and building step-by-step. She has a good sense of humor, too. All said, after only my first lesson, I think my learn a new trick: playing a song or two on the cello. Deb Bisacchi, MEd, MSW

I have been studding strings from age 8, starting on violin. I switched over to cello when I turned 13 and received scholarships to potentially attend the University of Pacific in Stockton, CA. I instead studied cello at the University of California, Santa Barbara where I had the opportunity to perform in the university's symphonic orchestra and teach private lessons to college students as well. I have experience teaching from the Suzuki method, but consider myself to be a flexible educator and teach many methods according to the needs of the student.

Is Cello Hard to Learn? Read THIS Before Taking Lessons

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification. It does require focused, daily practice time and a good teacher to guide you along the way. How far you progress with cello is a direct result of the amount of quality time you put into practicing the instrument. Even someone who puts in just 30 minutes a day will notice a signi …
