About David

I grew up in Birmingham, AL, Boston, MA, and Cleveland, OH, and was classically trained on violin in all three cities by members of their respective orchestras. I began studying theory in 7th grade at The Alabama School of Fine Arts. I continued theory lessons while in Boston at the New England Conservatory of Music. I attended Summer music programs at Apple Hill (New Hampshire) and Sewanee (Tennessee) and have extensive experience in orchestra, quartet, and chamber group environments.

Upon graduating Emory university in 1992 I played professionally in Destin, FL as a bassist, guitarist, violinist, and vocalist. I performed as bassist and backing vocalist with "Salty Dog" for nearly a decade. I am the co-founder of the Destin, FL band "Beach Mice." We perform for several weddings, corporate events, and benefits every year. Beach

Mice is also popular on the festival circuit on the Emerald Coast.

I relocated to Atlanta in November of 2013, and currently perform weddings, and at various restaurants and events in the Atlanta area.

I have taught individuals and group lessons on violin, bass, and guitar since 1997 and for several consecutive years at Playground Music in Fort Walton Beach.

I have several videos available on YouTube, and a website which is easily located through a simple Google search.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you fulfill your musical goals and ambitions. Happy Playing - Cheers! dp

David made the lesson worthwhile by teaching skills and showing how valuable those skills were to obtain. Provided a lot of value for the time together, and was very patient with me as I learned.

Private Violin Teacher

I began playing violin as a young child, and progressed to several hours a day during my teenage years. I taught throughout college, both as a violin instructor and as a private instructor.

My teaching programs vary according to the level of the student, and the goal he or she has set for him/herself, be it as a support to a school educational program or a personal love for music and/or the violin that seeks to develop itself into a practice.

About Gabrielle

Bonjour a tous!

Dear Students,

A native French speaker, I have been tutoring students of all levels since 2008. I was the main French and German Instructor at the San Jose Learning Center in the Silicon Valley before moving to New York.

The core of my lessons are drawn from language books, which allows everyone to work at his or her own pace during the week. This is supplemented by tailored PDFs that target your particular interests.

Lessons always begin with a dialogue, no matter your level. From how you are feeling, to what you did during the week, to the weather of your best friend's gossip, we warm up with a conversation I type out as we go.

The rest of the lesson is then spent reviewing previous work and introducing new material in a variety of ways, constantly setting a rule in practice. Poems, songs or texts, depen

ding on your interest, keep the content alive and interesting.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

I hope to hear from you, meet you, and work with you!

Sincerely,
Gabrielle

What's the difference between a violin and a fiddle? Some say it just depends on who is picking up the instrument . . . others might say a violin has strings while a fiddle has "strangs." But if you're looking to play a hoedown, a breakdown, a sweet and heartfelt waltz, or an old-timey reel, then you're looking for some FIDDLE lessons . . . and I am just the person to deliver! I've been a performing bluegrass fiddler since 2003 and have helped many students discover the joys and satisfaction of fiddling. See my profile under "fiddle" for more information.

About Julie

I've been performing as a fiddler in bluegrass bands since 2003, and have absolutely loved my own journey as a musician! A lifelong musician, I started on viola at age 9 and played in school orchestra through high school and on into college, even as I earned my degree in secondary English Education. I kept playing throughout my 32 year career as a high school English teacher, performing at first on viola in folk/rock duos, then later (2003 onward) on fiddle. As an educator myself, I was a passionate learner who quickly progressed in my skills. I hope to pass along my passion for bluegrass fiddle to many students in the years to come! I am an extremely upbeat, optimistic person who knows how to meet students where they are and accompany them on their musical progress. Learning any instrument can be very challenging, and practice is importa

nt -- but it is also important to quickly gain the satisfaction of achievement. I like to help students learn how to play tunes and enjoy the instrument, as well as develop their skills through the hard work of exercises and drills. As students progress, they will learn what it takes to be able to jam with others. Let's get ready to fiddle!

Julie is absolutely wonderful! She’s extremely patient and very talented. I was only able to take fiddling lessons for a relatively short amount of time (less than a year) but I feel that I walked away with an excellent start. Can not recommend enough!

Julie is an amazing fiddle teacher! It is intimidating to take lessons as an adult and she made me feel very comfortable from day one. She is fun and has a laid-back, warm personality. I highly recommend her to anyone wanting to learn fiddle!

Music has been an important part of my life: I have been playing the piano for 14 years and the violin for 8 years now. I am an alumna of the Claremont Young Musicians Orchestra, and I am currently a violinist in the Pomona College Orchestra. I have placed in competitions such as the Diamond Bar Performing Arts Contest and Southwestern Youth Music Festival.
Music helps me de-stress and view things from different perspectives. I have taught music for 3 years. I am hoping to share this passion with my community and would like to teach students of all ages and levels. I will tailor the lesson style according to the student's age. It’s never too late to start!

About Sophia

Hi there! I am majoring in mathematical and computational biology at Harvey Mudd College. I love studying the sciences because it's exciting to learn how things work and to logic things out. I love working with others - I have been tutoring students (ranging from elementary school to high school) on various school subjects for about 6 years now.

Music is another huge part of my life: I have been playing the piano for 14 years and the violin for 8 years now. I am currently a violinist in the Pomona College Orchestra. In 2014, I was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall after my participation in the American Fine Arts Festival. In high school, I placed either first or second on solo, duet, and ensemble competitions in various competitions held at places such as Diamond Bar High School and Chapman University. Through these activities, I prac

ticed on persistence and patience. Teaching experience wise, I have taught piano for 3 years before.

Additionally, I enjoy actively participating in my community. In high school, I was really involved in the American Red Cross and Key Club. In college, I am still finding joy in volunteering in different organizations on campus. I also enjoy other activities such as reading, meditation, theater, tennis, rock climbing, and ballroom.

I work with people according to their personality and the way that they learn best. If I were given the opportunity to tutor your student, I would make sure everything is clearly explained because I hate memorizing.

I look forward to sharing my passions with you!

Sophia worked with my daughter during her Junior year of high school. My daughter was really struggling to understand the material and Sophia was a huge help. Sophia broke the lessons down and was able to instruct my daughter in a way that she could comprehend. Her grade improved by one letter which was wonderful. We truly appreciated Sophia's help.

Meghan Faw is a professional violinist and Suzuki trained teacher in the Chicago area. An avid proponent of the Suzuki method, Ms. Faw sets high standards for her students and gives them the tools necessary to achieve their goals. Ms. Faw has over four years of teaching experience, primarily working with beginners. She is trained through Suzuki book 3 and will continue with book 4 this fall.
Lessons are customized with your goals in mind. If you want to become a professional violinist, or just want to learn how to read music and play your favorite tunes, Ms. Faw puts you in charge.
Ms. Faw graduated from DePaul University with her Master of Music degree in 2019. She also holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Texas at Austin (2017).

About Meghan

I started playing piano when I was five years old, and began violin at age seven. I played both for several years, but grew to love the violin (probably because we don't have to read two staffs!) Originally from Houston, TX, I went to a performing arts high school and was involved with three youth orchestras and various chamber ensembles. I also took privately with Frank Huang, the current concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic. I went on to pursue my Bachelor of Music at the University of Texas at Austin, where I studied with Sandy Yamamoto. Here, I really honed my craft and worked with some renowed teachers and ensembles, including Ani Kavafian, the Miro Quartet, and the Cavani quartet. I was also involved in the University of Texas String Project, which is an organization that teaches college students how to teach younger students.

I moved to Chicago in 2017 to pursue my Masters at DePaul, studying with Janet Sung, an international soloist. I began teaching more, and really fell in love with working with children and helping them excel. I began to pursue my Suzuki training and gained even more teaching tools. I just finished my masters this year, and I am looking to pursue teaching full time. I am ready to let you take the drivers seat; tell me what you want out of these lessons and I will do everything in my power to make it happen. I have taught in Chicago Public Schools and can provide a background check on request. Please do not hesitate to contact with me with any questions, I'm here to make your violin dreams come true!

"I am a 16 year old high schooler and athlete and I've been learning the violin from Mr. Nader since I was around 7 years old.

His teaching method is ve
ry organized and increased my knowledge of music to a level beyond all of my peers. His time that he takes to teach me is very well spent, always being productive, and always encouraging me to become a better violinist. He has taught me many techniques that I could only dream of learning because of their great difficulty. Even outside of class, if I happen to have questions, he always has time to answer them for me.

If you even are considering Mr. Nader as a teacher, go for it! It will be a great experience that you wont regret."
