Whether you're 3 or 103, if you're playing violin (or starting to play!) I hope you're EXCITED about it!! Over the years, my students have said that their lessons are/have been their favorite times of each week. I believe learning to play viola should be full of joy, learning, thinking, and feeling. Bring that joy alive for yourself by partnering with me as your musical guide. I bring over 30 years of experience and pure joy to my work, and I'd love to share that with you!
I've been in and around music all my life. I started violin at age 5, part of the first generation of Suzuki violinists in the United States. I've loved being a professional violinist and violin teacher for over 30 years! And I've also founded and directed three community music schools in Newburyport, Boston, and Manhattan.
I hold Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Violin Performance, and I'm lucky to have had wonderful experiences during my formal training! In my undergraduate years, I was awarded a full 4-year scholarship for string quartet and chamber music playing, which was invaluable as a real-world training. In graduate school, I was fortunate to learn so much as a Teaching Assistant for undergraduate violin students.
I have also been an innovator in musical education, and I've felt honored to coach numerous already gift
ed violin teachers who have sought me out to improve their techniques for best teaching practices. From my 30+ years of private violin teaching and observing how children learn, I developed a super fun groundbreaking class in New York City for 2.5 to 5 year old beginners called Crackerjack Kidz! And a few years ago, I wrote a text to accompany young students and their families.
I continuously work to be a master teacher dedicated to the very best methods, using a variety and combination of techniques and strategies tailored to the student's musical success and enjoyment.
My specialties include music-based early childhood development, adult beginners and continuing learners, intermediate and advanced players, and chamber music coaching.
I welcome you to start your family's musical journey with me!
*** Lesson Details *** While each lesson is different, we always try to spend a little time warming up, making sure we're comfortable and free of tension, reviewing what we've worked on, and layering in new concepts each time. We also learn age appropriate music theory (the "why's" of how music works), we exercise our imaginations, and we learn how to effectively practice.
We learn to think, solve problems, hear the music in our minds, and coordinate our bodies to play beautifully! Along the way we learn skills for life, the joy of accomplishment, and love of ourselves and others!
Whether you're a toddler or a senior, violin can always teach new things and help students appreciate more about themselves and the world!
*** Studio Equipment *** Music room with keyboard and computer. Parents can sit it on lessons, and are enouraged to do so with young students.
*** Specialties *** I'm a classically trained violinist and a master teacher with over 30 years of experience. I've been teaching Suzuki violin to children ages 3 and up for my whole career, and I'm also extremely comfortable with traditional methods for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students of any age.
My specialties include: music-based early childhood development adult beginners and continuing learners intermediate and advanced players chamber music coaching.
In my one hour of comprehensive teaching, students learn extensively the techniques of the violin, including tone production, vibrato, musicality and pieces of music which are chosen from standard violin literature or Suzuki books. The whole idea is to get students to look at the whole learning process as a fun activity, and very soon they acquire the ability to produce beautiful sounds, correct intonation and strong vibrato. In addition to the above, I conduct some some ear-training exercises to improve intonation as well.
I am a violinist and composer. I have trained more than 1200 students in more than twenty five years of my teaching carrier.
*** Lesson Details *** Each lesson includes scales, arpeggios, etudes, duets and a new piece of music from different eras of music. I emphasize on tone production, correct intonation, accurate rhythm, reading skills, as well as an expressive and strong vibrato. My primary goal is to train students to become an excellent violinist, to play numerous compositions with the highest musicality and interpretation. My studio at my home is a spacey room that is properly ventilated and well lit, possessing enough chairs available for both my students and possible guests. There are two music stands and an electric Suzuki piano, which can be used for accompaniment in our lessons, especially in preparation for upcoming con
*** Travel Equipment *** I have a 2012 Toyota Corolla car, with a trunk that has ample space to house and carry my instruments and music stands as they are needed.
*** Specialties *** Patience and communicating in an effective way and encouraging students to practice without regarding such a task as a chore.
He is very patient and has excellent communication skills. I have no knowledge of how to play the violin or music of any kind. After my first lesson I strongly feel he will be my private instructor for many years to come. I left with proper technique of how this instrument is to be cared for and good posture when practicing. He also informed me of the books we will be incorporating into my lessons. Most importantly homework is given and he is very patient and explains everything at your level.

I was very pleased with my first lesson with Nader. He is very kind and patient. We covered some basic points with what we'll be covering for my lessons with the cello. His instructions and explanations of technique is very clear I feel my lessons with him will be very beneficial and enjoyable.

Mr. Nader is an excellent instructor who always puts his students first. He customizes his lessons in accordance to each individual and patiently works with them so that they may achieve their optimum potential.
More than just a passive teacher of the violin, Mr. Nader dedicates his time and energy as a full time instructor of violin, cello, and music theory. Furthermore, Mr. Nader exhibits a level of knowledge, intellect, understanding, and culture rarely seen in the world today. When one walks into his music room, one will be struck with awe at not only the amount of books in Mr. Nader's library collection, but also the wide variety of subjects ranging from Music, Music History, Biographies, Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, and many more. However, do not think that these books are just for display. Quite the contrary, one short conversation with Mr. Nader will show that he is well versed in all these subjects; a modern incarnation of the Renaissance polymath. Building off of his broad knowledge base, Mr. Nader not only teaches one how to play an instrument, he also teaches one how to cultivate oneself in Music and the culture from which it originates.
With a passion for Music and a yearn to pass on higher culture to the avid learner, Mr. Nader is the best instructor for all those who wish to learn Music along with its connection to the history, society, and culture from which it springs.
As a violin teacher, I love helping my students achieve their goals! I believe not only the results matter, but also the journey. I focus my lessons on helping the student learn and have a deeper understanding of music theory, harmony, rhythm, technique, and how all those apply to the violin. I specialize in classical music and I use methods such as Suzuki, Essential Elements, and many others to help you become a better violinist. The lessons take place in a relaxed and fun setting :)
I have been playing the violin for more than 20 years but my love for teaching started about 10 years ago! I became fascinated with teaching as not only I have learned so much about myself as a musician and person but most importantly I have learned how to help my students become better musicians. As we are all so different, I believe in exploring and experimenting with the way we learn. My approach to teaching the violin is based on the student's needs, desire, and, finding the best way to help them develop as musicians. I do not use a specific method of teaching as I believe one needs to be flexible and malleable with each individual student. I work with each student until we get the results desired.
Tania has been a great teacher for my son. He started learning violin with the Suzuki method and studied with a Suzuki teacher for about four years before stopping lessons. He became interested in violin again in middle school and decided he wanted to take private lessons while in 7th grade. Tania had no trouble getting him back on track, picking up with some Book 2 pieces and moving on to Book 3. She has helped him with his bowing, vibrato and shifting, and his sound has really improved. She also has helped him learn to read better and has introduced some basic music theory into lessons. My son really likes his lessons, and feels that he is learning what he needs. Overall, I like her approach, which I think works very well for this level. She is an excellent musician, and this comes through in her teaching.

My first lesson with Tania met my expectations. She did an assessment to determine where I am in my learning and what I know. She gave me great pointers and we worked on a short piece alone with a Major scale. I look forward to my next lesson and expect to progress tremendously under her instruction.

I had such a wonderful experience with Tania as my violin teacher. I minored in music at Florida State University and was lucky enough to be her violin student for two years (August 2013-May 2015). Tania was extremely patient and encouraging, and was very skilled in teaching me how to balance focus on technical details as well as on the "bigger picture" of emotion and musicality. In my opinion and experience, Tania's greatest strength as a teacher is being very adaptable to her students' needs. When I was preparing for an important audition, her expectations and demands were where they needed to be in order for me to succeed. Months later, when I was approaching exams and graduation, she recognized that practicing every day was not my priority at that time, and she adjusted her teaching style so that I could still improve and use music as a constructive and creative outlet during those stressful times so that I could excel in my examinations.
From lesson to lesson (and in-between!), she succeeded in her best efforts in connecting with me not only as my teacher and as a fellow musician, but also as a fellow human being, pushing me to fulfill my potential in each and all of these areas. I highly recommend her as a teacher!

I am a professional violinist... and fiddle player! I graduated from Roosevelt University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance.
My students can expect to improve week to week in their violin technique and overall musicianship. Every student is interested in different types of music; I teach students to apply foundational techniques in order to unlock their own individual sound in whatever style they choose.
I teach students of all different ages and experience levels. I have studied classical violin for 14 years, and jazz fiddle for 7 years. I can teach students to read music and pursue classical excellence, but also how to perform alternative styles such as jazz or bluegrass either by ear or by using chord sheets and transcriptions.
As a professional violinist, I currently spend most of my time playing with the Civi
c Orchestra of Chicago. In the past, I have also been fortunate enough to work with amazing ensembles such as the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic and the Millennial Chamber Players. I have performed in jazz combos at iconic Chicago venues such as the Jazz Showcase and the Green Mill. I also regularly play around the city with the bluegrass band Android Mandela and the Spanish rock band Calaveras LD.
Music is everything to me, and I bring the same energy and passion to my teaching that I bring to my creative music making!
Have you or your kids always wanted to learn to play the violin? I am an experienced violin teacher specialized in beginner and intermediate violin students of ALL ages. I believe that it is never too late to learn to play the violin, no matter your age! I teach classical violin through Suzuki method and also modern violin with a focus on rock, jazz and improvisation.
After studying piano for almost 10 years I decided I wanted to learn a new instrument and began taking violin lessons when I was 16 years old. In spite of people telling me that I was “too old” to learn to play the violin, I continued practicing and one year later I joined my first orchestra. In 2016 I graduated with a BA in Music from the University of Massachusetts Boston and I am now the violinist of Boston-based fusion rock band " The Sunset Kings". In November of 2018, I released my Spanish debut single "Ni Una Más" under my artist name "Hannah Schzde". "Ni Una Más" is now available in every music streaming service world-wide! In addition to offering private violin and piano lessons and performing with The Sunset Kings, I am also a studio violinist and perform with different orchestra pits in the Boston area while I continue to wri
te and record new material for my upcoming debut EP. ***Note: My availability is flexible! Please send me a message if my calendar doesn't fit with your schedule and we'll work it out!***
Hannah was so patient working with squirmy five year old! He really likes it too!

Hannah does a wonderful job with my daughter, she started with how to tune and set up the violin. Hannah does a great job working with my daughter showing her the proper technique and providing her exercises and activities to do in between lessons. You can tell Hannah loves teaching and music.

Hannah is a very dedicated and patient instructor. She always tries to keep the lessons interesting and fun, she also makes sure I take little stretch breaks in between exercises and always teaches me something new!

Mrs. Hammonds is such a wonderful teacher! I came to her when I just started high school and was overwhelmed with joy when I found such a great teacher. Focusing on memorization, technique, and working on a solid foundation even after playing for 10 years prior, really reflected in my playing. I think she was the teacher who really showed me why I wanted to play violin and set my foundation up to improve more and more even today!
February 18, 2019
As an adult student that let my violin sit idle for too many years, Hollis was able to help me regain some basics skills and build upon them to re-learn different playing styles. Her approach was refreshing and focused on helping me re-learn some classical pieces that were familiar to my background. In addition, she introduced some jazz and fiddle pieces that I was interested in branching out with and worked with me to fine tune bowing techniques for each style.
I would highly recommend Hollis as an instructor for anyone starting out or looking to improve upon existing skills!

"I have been taking violin lessons with Connie for almost 2 years now and i would highly recommend her! She has really helped me correct a lot of my bad ha
bits from years of just playing on my own. Connie is professional, very patient and passionate about music and teaching. I take lessons with her privately (not with Take Lessons) and am thankful to have her as my teacher!"
"I highly recommend Ferenc to anyone looking for a violin instructor in the Las Vegas area. I'm an adult beginner who has always wanted to learn the violin
. I spent quite a while looking into teachers before I decided on Ferenc and I'm very happy with my choice. He's a very good teacher. I leave each lesson playing (at least a little) better than I did when I walked in. Ferenc knows his craft and he's very good at pointing out both your strengths and areas that could use improvement. He always gives me concrete things I can work on in between lessons and they help a lot. His instruction has been invaluable and I'm certain I wouldn't be progressing at the same rate if I had tried to learn on my own or even with a less skilled teacher. I look forward to continuing to work on my skills with his help."
"Martina is very skilled at what she does, and she is an amazing teacher. She pointed out all of my strengths and weaknesses at the first lesson, and she a
lways teaches at my pace and not her own, giving me the opportunity to completely learn something before moving on to more difficult things. She is overall a very friendly person who you will feel incredibly comfortable to be around, and she always does the best job that she can to teach me every single lesson. I look forward to our lessons every week, and I am simply amazed by how much I am progressing under her guidance."
"Nicolas Repetto is a great teacher and he has taught me many things over one year."
"She's the best teacher ever! Kind, understanding, and extremely patient. A lovely person all around, besides being a world-class performer."
"Thank you for my kids first lesson. I was a little nervous at first as my kids if always had lessons in a studio. Online worked ok really well. We look
forward to many more lessons with Ben."
My husband and I were extremely pleased with the progress our son Thomas made with Dan. Thomas started playing last year and was progressing faste
r than the rest of his third grade class which is why we were looking for a private teacher to help him along. Before taking lessons with Dan I had a hard time getting Thomas to practice. Thomas has begun practicing all on his own because he has been genuinely inspired. Dan is a true professional who always on time and in a good mood to teach. He was so patient with Thomas and developed practice techniques unique to Thomas's situation. Dan is more than just a violin teacher, he is dedicated to inspiring each student to love music. Thanks Dan!!!"
"Very informative and very easy to work with."
"First lesson went great and I'm looking forward to the rest!"
There's one important - and slightly intimidating - hurdle that all violin students have in common. Whether you're a complete beginner looking to make a cheap, factory-made instrument more grateful to play, or a more advanced student wanting to customize your "forever" instrument to suit you and you alone, the basic knowledge of how to set up a violin is worth grasping even if your interest doesn't extend much beyond curiosity and a love of tinkering with things.
As you're probably aware, the b …
