Max has been a stellar double bass tutor for my son. He caught on right away how to work with him and improve his playing, technique and music theory. You can really tell he has a passion for music (especially the double bass) and teaching. Will continue to have my son study under him :)

Max was very helpful as a teacher. He gave me a lot of good insight into picking the bass for bluegrass music. I've been primarily playing bowed music. I plan to continue my lessons with him.

David gave my son music lessons on upright bass and electric bass in the musical genres of classical and jazz, from 5th grade through high school. David is extremely a talented and knowledgeable musician as well as being a very professional and competent teacher. David interacted effectively with my son, through the ups and downs of middle school and high school. David stuck with him and always supported him. My son's success in his high school music program was very much due to David. My son has continued on to Shenandoah Conservatory, studying Jazz performance on the upright bass. David is a working musician as well and was influential in introducing my son to the realities of music as a profession. David and my son continue to keep in touch and jam when their schedules allow. I highly recommend David Lester as a music teacher for all levels on upright and electric bass in multiple styles and genres (classical, jazz, rock, funk).

"Billy is the absolute best! Transcribing rhythms and ear training analysis have always been my weaknesses when it comes to music theory knowledge and finding the right exercises and techniques to improve has always been quite a difficult process to achieve. However, within just a few tutoring lessons from Billy, I started to build a better understanding of music theory as a whole. In every tutoring lesson, Billy was patient, knowledgeable and friendly which quickly benefited my musicality and strengthened my overall friendship and love with music. Thank you Billy!"

But he did sit with me and show me how to do it myself and I was happy I learned something. It wasn't great but if I had the desire to be an arranger then I would definitely study more with Jeremy."
