Experienced violin, viola and piano teacher of 30+ years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of reading, theory and performance skills. I specialize in classical music. I use a variety of methods and literature all dependent on personal need and style of each student.

I am a classically trained violinist and violist passionate about helping my violin and viola students develop a love for music and for their instrument by way of a solid technical foundation and efficient practicing skills. Though I am most familiar with the Essential Elements and Suzuki lesson books, I am willing to use a different method book should you have one available. I welcome students with special needs, and am thoroughly versed in the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic violin and viola repertoire.

(soprano or Alto). The tough part is learning hold to hold the violin properly. It takes a couple months to train the muscles a new stance. With my help your posture and breathing will become as one with the music It's not a myth, the violin is the most complex instrtument to learn. Hello to each of you! My name is Corey, and I have been teaching for 31 years. My primary professional instrument is cello, but started on violin at the age of 7. As I progressed as a child I played violin in the school orchestra setting, and cello outside of the school systems. Like many of you I've been locked up in my home because of Covid19. What fun! Not really... but I have been enjoying teaching 24 of my current private students. Additionally, I have been teaching music at a Waldorf School in Portland Oregon for 22 years. My work at the school has decreased because of the crisis and now I've been moved to 1/2 time. I'm so excited to expand my teaching studio, and have the opportunity to meet you. Maya joined the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra in 2007. After receiving her Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School in 2001, she became a member of the Honolulu Symphony. In Hawaii, she recorded with the prestigious Hawaiian singer Keali’i Reichel on his album Ke’alaokamaile, which was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2005.

A native of Japan, Maya received Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Tokyo University of the Arts. She attended seminars in Japan and England with the Amadeus Quartet and performed in both countries as a member of the Sunrise String Quartet.

In the United States, Shiraishi studied with Masao Kawasaki on scholarships at the Juilliard School, where she received a master’s degree in 2001. She has also studied with Garrett Fischbach from the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Yoko Takebe from the New York Philharmonic.
