I am a classically trained violinist and violist passionate about helping my violin and viola students develop a love for music and for their instrument by way of a solid technical foundation and efficient practicing skills. Though I am most familiar with the Essential Elements and Suzuki lesson books, I am willing to use a different method book should you have one available. I welcome students with special needs, and am thoroughly versed in the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic violin and viola repertoire.

Even though most of my students are children between the age of 6 and 18, I love teaching adults because we can build up meaningful relationships and have intriguing conversations through music! I am fully equipped to teach from absolute beginners to semi-professionals who had chosen a non-music career path. Let's work together to achieve your goal, and make beautiful music.

About Keiko

I served as a violinist of the Attacca Quartet, a NY-based string quartet that performs all over the world from 2005 to 2019. In addition to concertizing, I teach students of all levels wherever I go; I have given lessons, masterclasses and lectures in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, P

We have been very lucky to have found a teacher as talented as Keiko for my son.
Keiko is passionate about teaching, pays attention to details, and loves to help students with problem-solving. we are thrilled to have found Keiko and would highly recommend her to anyone.

I’ve always wanted to learn how to play the violin but did not have the opportunity to learn when I was young. I started to teach myself how to play the violin about four years ago. At 26, I realized that I wanted to take private violin lessons in hopes how to play properly and improve my skills. Keiko is an absolutely wonderful instructor! She is very patient, friendly and flexible. We have been taking virtual lessons together for about a month now and I already notice a significant improvement when I play. I look forward to continuing to learn from her!

Violin:
A wooden stringed instrument in the violin family; it is the smallest and highest-pitched. The violin typically has four strings tuned in perfect fifths, and is most commonly played by drawing a bow across its strings, though it can also be played by plucking the strings with the fingers (pizzicato). Violins are important instruments in a wide variety of musical genres. They are most prominent in the Western classical tradition and in many varieties of folk music. They are also frequently used in genres of folk including country music and bluegrass music and in jazz. Electric violins are used in some forms of rock music; further, the violin has come to be played in many non-Western music cultures, including Indian music and Iranian music. The violin is sometimes informally called a fiddle, particularly in Irish traditional music and bluegrass, but this nickname is also used regardless of the type of music played on it.
Lessons always start with the basics: Tuning, hand/bow

I will definitely be expanding my accordion skills & of music theory . I’ll also be adding some 😎 Jazz Standards to my repertoire ☺️.

Karen was not prepared for the lesson. She spent 15 minutes trying to send me photos from a beginner Tabla book available on Amazon. She did not own a set of Tabla drums. She ensured me she could teach anything, but could not pronounce the words used for proper Tabla technique, knew no history and could not even teach me to tune. She literally was reading out of the book figuring it out along the way. I lost a lot of trust from this and asked for a full refund for future lessons.

I’ve been taking online lessons from Connie for 6 months now and couldn’t be happier. She helped me develop a good foundation and has been so encouraging along the way! I love that she pays attention to detail and goes out of her way to write weekly lesson notes, make recordings for me, adds in music theory and is helping me towards my first exam. Connie’s passion for music and teaching is evident and I’m thankful I found her online!

My son has been taking lessons from Connie and we love having her as his teacher! She helps him with his confidence playing solo and also working through school orchestra music... he’s now one of the more advanced in his group! Connie focuses on the details to set up a good foundation and has been great helping him with some bad habits he devolved years ago. She has lots of experience with every age group and teaches all the way through very advanced level. Thankful she came recommended to us!

"Our 11 year old daughter, Drew, started with Cristina for a little over a year, and has made some amazing progress from not knowing how to play, to having great intonation and musicality. Cristina teaches our daughter in a way that works with her interests and learning style, rather than having a regimented curriculum. I think this has allowed Drew to be way more excited about playing.

i've been playing music all my life but since i'm a square parent, it's hard for me to teach drew :) Cristina does a great job giving her guidance during the lesson.
i would highly recommend her as a teacher!"
