About Gail
I studied music from elementary school through high school, taking a break to have a family. After I volunteered to teach Kindergarten and first grade music at a school in Lakeside, I picked up my instruments and began to study again in earnest. Many hours of study, lessons and practice later, I am a better musician than I have ever been, and I've also gained a valuable perspective on teaching that I never could have had by simply being a musician.

I currently play viola with Equinox Quartet, playing Renaissance music up through the Baroque period.

My strengths lie in working with young children, helping them both understand music and love it. My goal for every student is to leave me having a strong understanding of theory, musicianship and desire to seek out more opportunities for growth. I work with each student to tailor a prog
ram specifically for their needs, from working through simple bowing mechanics issues to the psychology of performance. Each student has different challenges to overcome, and simply using a one-size fits all approach is not going to help them.

I pride myself in being flexible and available to to my students for questions, whenever they may need to ask them. I believe that you shouldn't have to wait for the next lesson to have the question answered that may just make the pieces start coming together a bit quicker for you.

*** Lesson Details ***
A typical lesson consists of checking student's progress, addressing any immediate issues and working on skill building.

OK, so those are the basics, but what happens is so much more than that! One student may have trouble hitting a C#, so we'll work on those. Another may have trouble relaxing, we might spend some time on breathing exercises to help with that. Still another might have a death grip on the neck of their instrument, so we'll do some exercises to help relax their hands.

My goal is to help students get well on their way to a lifetime love of learning and making music.

In 3-6 months, they should be:
* Reading music consistently at a level appropriate to their progress.
* Developing an understanding of rhythm and meter.
* Placing their fingers properly, and reliably for the most part.
* Developing correct posture and holding their instrument and bow in a relaxed manner that suits their body type and facilitates the freedom of movement required for great music.

My newbie (beginner with zero experience) son has been taking violin lessons via skype for almost 2 years now. I specifically was looking for a teacher who could meet us over the internet, considering I needed a break from the commute. Although I wasn't sure this could work, I gave it a shot...& I am SOOO glad I did! I love the flexibility for our lessons to be in the early morning before school, we could only do this online.

My son LOVES playing his violin! It's funny because he wanted to quit once or twice when he came upon new challenges, etc. Gail works patiently with him as he gains confidence, slowly but surely he has improved dramatically. She has customized his lessons perfectly to fit his needs which is what I was hoping for. Online accompaniment to his songs made it even more fun & we just started a fiddle book (my son's request) which he is enjoying enormously.

My son picks up his violin & plays on his own all the time, WOW! He sounds great, is learning good technique & theory, but most importantly he was given a chance to enjoy the learning process, to me this is priceless. You won't be disappointed with Gail, she is a GREAT teacher! So glad we found her!!!

Side note: In the beginning I was trying to figure out how to tune the violin for my son, & fingering.The snark tuner & the chinatera fingerboard sticker gave me some needed confidence that we could do this online.

Gail is a very good and kind violin teacher and was just perfect for my son's introduction to instrument. He really enjoyed the lessons and learning how to play each of the strings then putting them together in a song. It was a wonderful experience.

About Rebecca
An international performing artist, Rebecca has most recently performed in 2016 with the Etruria Opera Festival in Viterbo, Italy as the title role in Suor Angelica of Puccin and First Lady in Die Zauberflote of Mozart. She has been a featured artist at the Tuscia Opera Festival in Italy from 2009 to 2016 as well as performing recitals and concerts in the Southern California area. In November of 2014 Rebecca organized and performed in the Suor Angelica Project, a fundrasier for the San Diego Opera. This collaboration with the San Diego Symphony and members of the San Diego Opera Chorus raised over $7500 for the Opera.

Since 2009. Rebecca is on the faculty of the International Lyric Academy of Rome and Viterbo, teaching voice and Italian lessons to the American students who come over to participate and learn. She has also sung concerts
and recitals in New York City, London, Edinburgh, and various cities in Italy as well as locally here in California and Florida. Rebecca received her Bachelor in Music degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. She is a student in the online Masters program for Music Education at the University of Florida, Gainesville. She has also studied at the Universita per Stranieri in Perugia, the International Lyric Academy of Rome, and the International Institute of Vocal Arts in Chiari, Italy. She is currently the Director of Music Ministries at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Carlsbad, California, and teaches voice and piano privately.

Rebecca is a regular performer with the San Diego Opera and is a former member of the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay. She is featured on their 1996 release Christmas with the Master Chorale. Other recordings include Mahler VIII - Symphony of 1000 in the chorus with the late Robert Shaw. Lessons are tailored to the individual student's initial abilities. In all genres of music it is important to breathe well, have breath support, communicate the emotion and character of the song, and eliminate vocal bad habits. These issues are different for everyone.

I teach a classical Italian technique of breath support and beautiful tone, and these techniques can be applied to all musical styles.

The student will be assigned and choose songs to learn and work on as we incorporate the techniques into the songs and vocal exercises.

I started learning piano by the age of 4. Started composition by the age of 5. At the age of 12, I started guitar and never turned back. Music was always the ULTIMATE escape. The most important thing with any instrument is that you're enjoying what your doing. If you're not having fun with guitar, then you're probably not going to stick with it. I teach beginning to advanced guitar and my students really enjoy the lesson plans. My lessons vary from student to student depending on what they want to accomplish, and what they need to succeed. After the student reaches a certain level I get them to play with other musicians. Sometimes I'll bring in my drummer and hop on the bass so the student can get the feel of playing with a full band! I expect a lot from students and they seem to have no problem delivering,

5 star teacher!!

Brandon is personable, knowledgeable, talented and very funny! Not only does he prepare great lessons that are suited for me and what I want to learn, but he also brings new styles and techniques that challenge me and broaden my interests!

Brandon is one of those people that you instantly feel comfortable with and my lessons are fun. I feel like we are just hanging out playing music instead of sitting through a mundane lesson.

Can't say enough great things about him! He's like the Beethoven of guitar!

I WANT TO LEARN IT ALL. Brandon is super easy to work with. He has the lesson plan put together ahead of time ready for the session. I have a basic understanding of music and guitar. Brandon is by far, the best guy around to help me delevop and get me to the level I want to be at.
Very patient, very fun. I think I will have to get him and his family up to my place for a cookout and roller coasters (I live near cedar point, the roller coaster capital of the world). We will definitely become friends. Great guy! Great teacher! This will be fun!

Was born in Brazil in 1974. At age of 8, he began guitar studies at the Villa Lobos Conservatory where he completed the 7 years course. During the period from 1994 to 1996 he studied with Luiz Claudio Ferreira at School of Music and Fine Arts of Paraná – Brazil where he earned the Bachelors degree in performance.
Mr. L has been in the most important guitar events in the states such Guitar Foundation of America (CA), Stetson International Guitar Workshop (FL) and Guitar Symposium (GA). His activities as an instructor, clinician and performer have been intense and he has received great recognition.

Excellent Teacher.

I'm an experienced player, so I can't exactly say that he'd be good for someone who's just picking up a guitar. But he does an excellent job teaching technicality and musicality, which is something that many teachers lack these days. When I looked for a teacher I wanted someone who would help me better myself as a musician in a style I wasn't very familiar with. By musician, I mean someone who is not only technically proficient, but also very musical and a very good interpreter of music. So far he's helped me a lot in all of those aspects, while managing to keep a comfortable learning pace. I'd recommend him to anyone who really wants to push themselves musically.

I am easy-going, but I expect you to practice. I am thorough in my approach. For piano lessons, I utilize the Alfred method. I emphasize note reading and theory in each genre, whether taking guitar, voice or piano. I am currently using Hal Leonard's Guitar Method books for guitar and a few different things for vocal curriculum. All lessons can be supplemented with what you are currently interested in or working towards. I enjoy helping prepare young people for their performances in theatre arts. Lessons can be combined, for example; if you are interested in both voice and
guitar, you can take a longer weekly lesson and have both subjects covered! Weekly assignments are given and checked to see if done before proceeding to the next step! I do not recommend students come every other week. I recommend one lesson per week.

We practiced the new cadence for example of the deceptive cadence, the plagal cadence, and the phrygian. we learnt the basic root progression. a standard method of connecting triads with roots a fifth apart is to hold the common tone in the same voice and move all the other parts to the closest possible chord number. We learn about mediant triads s well.some ways using cadence that I can expand my harmonization practice is in general, when tempted to part write or analyze a chord in common-practice music as iii (in major), give the context further thought. i imagine with this knowledge it ill help me to compose a better harmonize song.
We practice together the scale degrees that are designated by Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3...), chor ds are similarly designated by Roman numerals (I, II, III). For example, in the key of C major the notes are C,D,E,F,G,A,B and we have designated them as 1,2,3,4,5,6,7. However, when we consider the triad chords in the key of C we have Cmaj, Dm, Em, Fmaj, Gmaj, Am, Bdim. These are designated I,II,III,IV,V,VI,VII. When speaking about these chords, for instance in the key of C major, we would call Gmaj the five chord, Dm the two chord,

The easiest way to find an interval's name is to first, count all the pitch names present, including the notes themselves (ignore sharps and flats at this point). Then, find out (had it been missing a flat or sharp) what type of interval it would be, depending on whether it is perfect (a 1,4,5,8) or major (2,6,7). If there are no sharps or flats, you are done. If there are, figure out if the flat or sharp decreases or increases the distance between the two pitches. If it increases the distance, the interval is augmented. If it decreases the distance, and the interval would otherwise be perfect, it is diminished. If it decreases the distance and the interval would otherwise be major, it is min that is what I learnt

Mariana was great! Very professional and able to explain the techniques in a very clear way. When I began, I was very nervous and self-conscious. She was patient and kind and never made me feel embarrassed!

She really knows her stuff and technique. I'd been to a few voice teachers before and they were great singers, but they didn't seem to have to really KNOW the techniques behind singing. Mariana clearly is a wonderful singer and has great training in what she does.

When we realized that our daughter Veronica enjoyed singing and showed keen interest in music, we decided to put her through some formal training in vocals. One of our friends referred us to Ms. Denise.

Josh has been a fantastic Instructor for my middle school age son. He worked closely with him on several pieces that were required to audition at two summer music camps helping him to move from near last position the year before to the top of the class. His improvements were formally recognized with an award at the end of 7th grade and I think Josh was a large part of that improvement. We were saddened to hear that Josh would be leaving the Denver area but wish him the best of success in his new ventures. Josh is an excellent instructor and we would certainly work with him again in the future.
