Your goals are my goals.
I have studied with some of the most famous teachers in the world, including Charlie Parker's pianist Walter Bishop Jr. and Dizzy Gillespie's musical director Mike Longo, among many others.

Once we have established the basics including melody and chords, we will pick songs you want to learn to play with your friends or just by yourself. We can use music books or go on YouTube to learn your songs.

*** Studio Equipment ***
My studio comes complete with acoustic and electric keyboards, acoustic and electric guitars, electric bass and amps to play through, as well as professional microphones for recording. Cory, is the Master Yoda of teaching music. That is truly evident in his patience, and honest desire to see you learn. Whether a beginner or an advanced musician like myself, Cory is exactly what you would hope to find in a great teacher. He is excellent in his skill and mastery of the art of music. That includes both his skill as a player, and in the science of music theory & harmony, When u see him play Piano, you will know instantly that he is a great master. Amazingly, he is also an awesome Guitarist & Bass Player. He has over 30 years of experience gigging on all 3, so there's no questioning his qualification to teach on all instruments. His seriousness as a true musician, and connoisseur of all forms of music & songwriting are especially beneficial to you. If you apply yourself, you will no doubt achieve your set goals, whatever they may be. Cory could be teaching at Juilliard or Berklee College of Music if he wanted to. That is not a joke. I went to Berklee, and so I am qualified to make that assertion. I learned a great deal studying with Cory, and that has translated into a priceless benefit for my own work.

Hello! My name is Taylor and I'm so thrilled that you're interested in the violin! The violin is the most popular of the classical stringed instruments, therefore it is seen and heard in multiple different areas, such as orchestras, movies, video games, and even music you hear on the radio. Although it is very competitive in the world of violin, it is still an instrument that anyone can enjoy, no matter what you decide to do with it. In our lessons, I will make sure that your abilities and interest in the violin are nurtured and increased through our incorporation of technical, musical, and theoretical aspects. We will build your foundations and help you achieve whatever it is you want to do, whether it be getting into an outside orchestra or just improving your abilities. As we build your technique, we will also learn music that will further challenge your new abilities, but that is also something you want to learn. Whether it be classical, contemporary, or something from the radio, ...

About Taylor
Hello! My name is Taylor and I'm so glad that you're interested in music! Here's a little bit about myself. I am currently enrolled at CSULB as a junior and I am double majoring in viola performance and music education. I have been playing violin for nine years, and I have been playing viola for four years, both with private instruction. Along with violin and viola, I also play cello, French horn, marching percussion, mallet percussion, piano, and guitar. Along with enrolling in and passing seven AP classes in high school, I was part of the marching band and winter drumline along with an outside orchestra that allowed for me to perform solos across the US and Europe. I have performed music at Disneyland, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Segerstrom, the 2012 Olympic Games in London, multiple churches and cas
tles in England, France and Germany, such as the Bristol Cathedral, Mont St. Michel, the Chambord Castle, and St Nikolai Church. Music is my passion and gives me an outlet for expression no matter how I'm feeling. Aside from music, school is very important to me, and I am proud to say that my GPA is a 3.93. I also enjoy video games such as Kingdom Hearts and Overwatch, I love learning new languages and studying science, and I love taking care of my three rabbits!

Hello future students! I've been playing violin for 20 of my 25 years of age and teaching for 8 years. I believe that the most important part of learning the violin is having fun and building a passion for music. In my lessons we will focus on proper violin technique, music theory and fun application. In fun application, the student chooses what he/she would like to work on, whether it be Mozart or The Chainsmokers or the Moana score, and we learn it together!
I am also proficient in music production/engineering which means that my students can professionally record themselves in my home studio! I also make viral violin videos which I want to start including my students in. If this sounds like fun to you, let's get started! :)

I teach music the way it was taught to me, and I had in my opinion some of the best teachers in the world.

I like to start every student with a unique approach to their individual playing style. I work closely with the student from the first minute of the first lesson, first simply getting to know the student's comfort level with material, playing style, and proficiency level. From there I go into specific topics that need improvement - for some students, this might be basic techniques, and for others may be advanced concepts. I like to walk the line between nurturing and tough love - I think that the best teacher is the experience of stepping outside of your comfort zone, with someone there to point you in the right direction to walk.

About Zack
Hi everyone! My name is Zack and I'm a guitar and violin instructor hailing from Chicago, IL, and currently residing in Los Angeles, CA. I’ve been playing violin since age 9 and guitar since age 10, gaining experience ever since playing live and in the studio, in bands and as a freelance artist. I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2015 with a Bachelors Degree in Music Performance and now play in a metal band and pursue a freelance career. As a young student, I spent many years as a member of Midwest Young Artists, performing and studying classical music with Dr. Allen Dennis and jazz guitar with the renowned Frank Portelese, playing venues such as the Harris Theater in Chicago. I toured Greece and Peru playing violin, and studied classical performance with Vadim Mazo of Illinois Wesleyan University in Prague at Ameropa ’06. I was
a violin student of Gail Lilja-Kirkeeng from a young age, and was taught guitar by Rex Carroll of christian heavy metal band, Whitecross, and later when on to study rock and metal guitar with Joe Stump and Jon Finn at Berklee College of Music. I have opened for acts such as Five Finger Death Punch and Rob Zombie, and even accompanied Dream Theater onstage as the principal second violinist for their live DVD release, Breaking the Fourth Wall. My musical background is mostly based in classical music on violin, and rock music on guitar, although I consider myself very well versed in many different styles. Topics I generally like to begin new students with are scales and modes and how to apply them, basic posture and correct pick/bow technique and left hand placement, and the note names as they apply to the instrument and basic sight reading. I firmly believe that every student is unique with different styles, voices, and goals and that any lesson plan should reflect that. Whatever you want to learn, I’m here to help!
