Whether you have no music experience at all or have some violin experience, I can help you improve technique and musicality by working on exercises and various pieces of music. I love working with students and building their technique and musicianship skills beginning at any level. I get the best results from my students by focusing on how to efficiently practice and structure their practicing. Good practice habits from the beginning and a solid foundation are the keys for success, and enjoying your own playing for years to come. Set up a lesson and let's see how we work together!

I have been teaching violin for 3 years. Due to COVID, I switched to Zoom lessons this year, and it has been surprisingly awesome! Anything I teach in person translates to Zoom, and this makes learning the violin more accessible than ever.
I teach using the Suzuki Method and See Saw exercise books. I love to teach students of any age - adults and kids. For younger students, I recommend a parent be present to help with lesson setup and note-taking. You're welcome to sit in on the whole lesson or just the first and last 5 minutes or so.
Also, I love introducing students to alternative styles of violin. Want to learn how to play in a rock band? I can help! Want to play by ear and jam? We can do that too!
No matter your end goal, we'll work on posture and playing technique to help you achieve a beautiful sound and comfortable playing. We'll also work on basic music theory and note-reading.
I look forward to meeting you!

10/10 would lesson again -- especially for students that are daunted by the process of learning an instrument or who will benefit from a compassionate, trauma-informed educator who has experience working with neurodivergent students.

Learn with me I will share my knowledges with you as well as any Asian culture you're curious of. My ultimate goal is to be your friend, your guidance, someone who can be there when you need help, rather than a be teacher who tells you what to do. Kelvin is an amazing teacher whose love for music truly shows. His knowledge is beyond the normal music instructor and shows when organizing all my kids in the living room to play music together. It's a real treat to hear them all working together!"

It's been a great experience for both of us. Krisztina is really adept at engaging him. She knows that little kids have short attention spans and makes her lessons fun. She can read him well and she is really good at incorporating characters and toys he likes into the lesson to keep it interesting for him.
It's been wonderful for me too to be able to learn the violin at the same time and for us to practice and play together., Krisztina is able to seamlessly teach and challenge both of us during the same session in spite of our age difference.
We started out with in-person lessons and switched to online classes as the pandemic set in. I'm grateful that we can continue despite the the social distancing mandate."

Ms. Nelson is a very nice and funny person. She is a good violin teacher because she is encouraging and always plays the music before I play it to see if I like it.

Popular Violin Articles from our Blog
Tablature is a form of musical notation that was invented to make reading music easier for fretted and string instruments like guitar, bass, and violin. The premise is operationally-based, meaning that rather than showing rhythm, duration, and pitch, violin tabs will show the player where and when to place their fingers on the instrument. For an improvising musician, violin tabs allow you to improvise while staying within the chord structure of a song. Tablature-style notation is most commonly …
