With critical listening, transcription, and composition exercises we will understand the theory involved in any music you are interested in. Music theory is a central part of any music. From the basics of scales and chords to the complex sequences and movements of classical music, I can help you understand and implement the theory behind it.

This Cole is King! I would give Cole 10 stars if it were possible. I had lessons with Cole in the summer of 2014 on the trumpet and let me tell you the guy is a giant on trumpet. I learned so much. I learned more in a summer's lessons with Cole than most people get in years. He made learning trumpet a lot of fun but at the same time I leaned basic skills, like how to keep beat and count. Can't say enough.

Have you wondered how music is notated and what all those sharps and flats mean? Would you like to be able to look at a piece of music and know how it sounds and whether it would work for your voice? I can help you with that. With step by step workbooks and 15 minutes of practice a day, you can learn to read music within a few months and know the basics before that.
I recommend adults take from 45 minutes to 1 hour lessons weekly for skill building. The price of lessons DECREASES by 10% after each 5 lesson purchased for the first 15 lessons.

About Julia
I have a Master’s in Opera Performance from the Boston and New England Conservatories as well as graduating from Vocal Performance programs at Boston University and Western Washington University. I have sung professionally with Boston Lyric Opera, Children’s Theater Companies, churches and synagogue and have toured on the east coast as well as Athens, Greece. Premiering new music is a specialty. I can help you prepare your pieces for auditions.  My students have successful auditions for college opera and music theater programs, and as choir soloists.

Students gain a larger vocal range and an easy, natural way of singing whether it is in a rock band, choir or as a soloist. Together we find the joy of singing while building a solid technique.

I have worked with small children as a Musikgarten teacher and have toured artist residency
programs which introduce children to music and theater in schools.   I was adjunct faculty at the College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University and local music studios as well as maintaining my private teaching practice.

I cannot learn something without wanting to immediately begin sharing what I know. That's what inspired me to begin teaching, and it continues to drive me today.

Music Theory is a field of study which enables performers and composers to better understand the "nuts and bolts" of their craft. It can be exciting, and I intend to make it so by applying the concepts we discuss to real musical examples in all genres.

If you do not live nearby, we can learn together through online chat via FaceTime, Skype, or Google Hangout. I have openings during early daytime CST, which means if you're in the UK or Europe and you're an English speaker, I would be happy to schedule you.

About Lyle
- Degree in Music Theory / History from University of Wisconsin - Whitewater.
- 25 years' teaching and performing experience.
- Fluent in all electric styles, plus acoustic and classical.

*** Lesson Details ***
I like to cover the fundamentals while focusing on your personal goals. All stages of ability are welcome, from rank novice to pro. We'll determine what you wish to learn, and build a roadmap to get there.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Home Office in his Townhouse: Music stand, recording equipment, two chairs.

*** Specialties ***
All types of jazz, from swing to modern. Rock, Metal, Blues and Country. Composition and improvisation.

Music theory is just the names and numbers we use to identify and organize musical sounds so that they sound good and happen at the right time, with great beats. It's way better than grunting and pointing when musicians communicate. I can teach theory the classical way, the Nashville way, or the juke joint way - whatever you need to understand musical materials so that you can use them to best advantage and communicate with your fellow musicians

WHen it comes to teaching music theory there is no secret. I go through the material step by step and make sure that the student is always learning every week. At the end of 2 months period, the beginner student should have a greater idea of harmony concepts and how to analyze music. The intermediate and advanced students are also able to clear some grey areas or just learn new material.

About Marcelo
Established New York musician. Berklee College of Music Graduate. Have been teaching for many years and know that each student has their own mindset and we need to work around each person`s goals and interests. I teach mainly pop, rock, blues, jazz, classical, funk, RnB. All ages and levels are welcome.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons are very relaxed and we will focus on ways to practice and getting the student to learn what he/she wants. Some people just want to come and learn a few tunes, some want to really learn the instrument and practice all the time. It all depends on the individual and I`m more than ready to adapt for each one of my students with the methods I have.
On our first class we will spend some time discussing what are the goals of the student and I will formulate a good plan so we can reach those goals in no time
.
I usually have 3 main paths that the student can choose.
1st - Learn the instrument enough so you can play your favorite songs and have fun with friends.
2nd(most requested) - Learn the instrument from scratch. Study technique, repertoire, a little of reading and music theory and learn how to improvise. This will allow the person to have their own tools to study on their own after attending classes with me.
3rd - Usually people who have been playing before like this one. We will go deep in music theory, ear training, reading, improvising and technique. Always leaning challenging tunes that will develop the student skills. This one allows the student to follow a professional path on the future, or maybe go into a music college.

*Location
Classes can take place at my studio or at your own location with an extra fee for transportation.

*Under 18 students
For children under 18 parents are more than welcome to stay for the classes, tell me if there is any specific goal you are looking for or talk about any subject that you might want.

*AUDITION PREP
I also help people to prepare for auditions. For this subject, I will tell you how to get ready for an audition. If you are trying to get in a college I have many contacts around the country and know how most auditions work and can help you with any question there might be. For auditions for orchestras or band we can work on repertoire and behavior to get you ready and all set to get accepted.

They say that "reading is fundamental," and we all sure get a step up in the world from being literate, and learning to write and to read.... But before we learn to read, we need to know our ABC's, and music has ITs own set of basic ABC's! Once you know these, everything in music becomes a lot more understandable and easy to work with - as we begin forming the words and sentences of music, with our musical ABC's!

IT's not rocket science, and IT's not differential calculus.... IT really is as easy as ABC and 1, 2, 3! :-)

Brittany works hard to train her students well. She is herself a well-trained musician (I've heard her in multiple concerts) who is committed to producing students who not only sing accurately and with good technique, but also with musicality. Brittany is gentle and loving with children and seems to know what "works". Brittany has always been very professional in her work (dress, punctuality, politeness, etc.).

She has an amazing range, and a real ability to entertain. I have received invaluable vocal advice from her over the years, which I now share with students of my own! GOOD NEWS: You do NOT need to read music or notes to take this class!
As a mainly self-taught musician, It took me a look time to realize the truth that really opened up all the doors and made me the musician I am today : Understanding Music Theory is the key to creativity in Music.
The only problem to me is that word : " Music Theopry". It sounds like a bunch of complicated things written on a black board. Like sheet music filled with notes and weird symbols...
And while I understand how frightening it sounds, the truth is very different.
Music Theory is the "owner's manual" of music. It's a list of explanations on how music works and of options you can use.
Together, we will explore the fascinating world of music through simple steps that only require common sense. I will use my unique vision of Music Theory to guide you through each step.

PS: My method is being published in France and in the USA and a revolutionary way of teaching Theory to self-taught musicians.

About Guillaume
Hello!
I am a 25 year old, French-American, active professional guitarist specialized in Jazz and Funk. I recently graduated from the Music Academy International in France, sister school of Berklee College of Music.

I started guitar at 11 years old and was 100% self-taught before going to music school at age 23. And guess what? By the middle of the program, I was asked to become a teacher of the school I was studying at. Crazy isn't it ?

This wasn't because I was a genius of any kind, but because of my teaching passion and skills, which became popular among students I was helping. I was known to explain well, and make things clear and understandable to everyone. At the end of 2017 I wrote a book focused on self-taught musicians which is the process of publication in France and in the USA.
I do not say that to brag in any way... Teac
hing is actually very humbling and I will always work hard to make sure everyone with passion and energy, can unlock all their musical potential.
