My teaching philosophy is that music is for ALL ages and ALL abilities. I love teaching foremost because of the connection between student and teacher; I have been really blessed to have some wonderful mentors throughout my life, and I value being able to mentor others. I am here as a teacher to see you for your unique set of strengths, interests, and goals.

As a music instructor, I am eager to cater to the needs of each individual child and to provide them with engaging musical experiences in supportive environments. I have previously provided violin, viola, and piano lessons to students of all ages both through Thompson Tutoring in Portage, Michigan and Reverb Lessons in Chicago, Illinois. I have approximately six years of private teaching experience.

I recently graduated from Roosevelt University's Chicago College of Performing Arts with a Master of Music Degree in Viola Performance. In 2016, I graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Viola Performance and Spanish. My performance experience includes both local and international venues. I have performed locally throughout the Southwest Michigan area, in orchestras such as the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Whiting Park Symphony Orchestra, Holland Symphony Orchestra, and Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra. I have always had a passion for music, and teaching violin and playing violin professionally is my calling in life. In my lessons, I work hard to help students achieve their goals, and I strive to make sure students always have a clear understanding of what they need to work on. I push my students to do their best and reach their full potential, but I also make sure that my students are having fun! My lessons are heavily focused on proper technique and achieving the best possible sound out of the instrument. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance from the University of Colorado and I am currently getting my Masters of Music in Violin Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Oregon.

The violin showcases a player's talent more than any other instrument, some say. It's the hardest instrument of them all, others say. Whatever your goals, I am happy to play a role in your musical journey with this instrument. Follow a classical, traditional method of my own development that incorporates the most common repertoire sought after in festivals, auditions for orchestras, and auditions for colleges.

Students can expect to learn music they like to play at whatever level. I focus on a combination of technique, theory, and performance playing.
