I hold a Masters of Music Degree in Violin Performance from California State University, Long Beach and have been playing the violin since the age of four. I've enjoyed teaching private lessons for the past 19 years and have experience in teaching group and private lessons to students of all ages, coaching string orchestras and string ense

Lessons include scales, technique, ear training, sight reading, music theory, solos, duets, music performance and the option to prepare for auditions and youth orchestras. I tailor the curriculum I use depending on the need of each individual student. Please contact me for up to date lesson availabilities!

Beginner to intermediate students use method books such as Essential Elements, Suzuki Method, and the Royal Conservatory of Music. For young students, I also use the Sassmannshaus Tradition, and the Violin Fun Book series. Intermediate to Advanced students learn technique using Carl Flesch scales, and studies from Shradiek, Sevcik, Mazas, and Kreutzer to name a few. Solo pieces including from composers such as Mozart, Franck, Bruch, Mendelssohn, Seitz, Bach, Handel, Beethoven and Vivaldi. I also encourage my students to explore other styles of music that interest them, such as pop, fiddling, Celtic, and movie music.

I started playing Violin at age five which lead me to study a bachelor of performing arts at WAAPA, Australia.

From there my music has taken me all around the world, playing in Orchestras in Australia, Europe and now America. The US government granted me an extraordinary ability visa in music, recognizing me as one of the best performers from my home country which allows me to teach and perform music in America.

I love passing on my knowledge to new students to help them grow as musicians, nothing is more satisfying to see someone learn how to play an instrument and watch them really enjoy the process.

About James
I started my musical career at the age of 2, on the piano, shortly afterwards moving to the violin, and the viola. Earning the music scholarship at school for best classical musician, and later on the scholarship for best orchestral instrumentalist at the world renowned music conservatoire WAAPA (West Australia Academy of Performing Arts). Earning my first diploma (A.Mus.A) at age 14, my music has taken me all around the world. I've played such places as the Australian High Commission, Rheingoldhalle in Mannhein, Dvorak hall in Prague, Australian embassy in London, Disneyland in Paris, and the opening the Australian embassy in Berlin, all before the age of 18.

Most recently through my many musical endeavors, I have been granted a visa of extraordinary ability as musician to enter the United States.

Since then I have lead the LADSO
viola section, played with the West LA Symphony Orchestra, played alongside Laryn Hill, a show presented by Quincy Jones, played in movie orchestras, recorded for studio sessions, performed electronic violin for private parties and nightclubs across the US.

*** Lesson Details ***
I have been teaching music since age 11. My mother is a concert pianist and I started off by teaching her students the violin. I have taught ever since and I love it. I have studied in Australia, Europe and the US.

I will help you create a fantastic technical base so you will be able to play with ease as your skill level develops, all while keeping the lessons fun and engaging.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano, Violin, Viola, Music Stand, General Teaching Aids, Recording Equipment.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide a music stand and basic materials but the student is expected to have their own instruments and to buy the music I recommend. I will help source and instruments and materials.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in classical music. I also teach other styles of music including improv, how to play pop music and can help you reach any musical goal. In Australia I used the AMEB syllabus. Which is the Australian examination system for music. I also teach Suzuki method and similar methods. I like creating a great foundation with a lot of exercises and scale patterns to really build up a solid base.

Kyle is a great piano teacher! He is very patient with my 12-year old son. Just yesterday he referred to him as “fun Kyle” because he teaches him small songs on the side that he can show friends and family or are for upcoming holidays. Kyle has given me contra bass, aka upright bass, weekly lessons from August 2015 through May 2016. I have never played a string instrument prior to this, although I do play piano and have played the flute, bagpipes, and piccolo over the years. I did not need education in reading music.

Kyle was able to take me from sounding like a lower octave version of Jack Benny (a mid-20th century comedian famous for his howlingly horrid violin playing) to a level where I know how to hold the instrument and the bow, the fingerings, bowing technique, and how to get a very respectable sound from the instrument.

He also installed the strings when I received the new instrument, found a manufacturing flaw in the bridge height that the manufacturer subsequently paid to repair, and diagnosed a resonance issue with the instrument that was corrected with a balance weight on the string below the bridge.

Never too late to begin learning/relearning (classical/pop) violin! My lessons focus on both sightreading and aural skills to make a well-rounded musician.

I make sure I am meeting the specific needs of each student, help them reach their individual goals, and most importantly, make lessons fun.

About Eric
I enjoy sharing my love of music by helping others embark on their musical journeys. I am a strong supporter of using a combination of aural training and sightreading to boost musicality and finesse.

In the past 6 years, I have taught students of all ages, ranging from children to seniors. You are never ever too old to learn the piano or the violin. You may not be the next Chopin, but with practice and dedication, you will eventually be able to play the mass majority of piano/violin repertoire.

Strong fundamentals (scales/chords/arpeggios) are important, but I also remember to make music fun and not boring by providing diverse selections of supplemental (pop/ragtime/blues) pieces.

Experienced teacher of 10 years, specializing in the beginner/intermediate violin student! All ages and disabilities are welcome to take lessons. Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. Not only will you be playing songs in no time, but you will be building a strong foundation of note reading, music theory, ear training, sight reading, technique, and more. I can teach all types of different genres, help students prepare for college auditions, and help with competitions and youth orchestra auditions. Let's get started!

About Tia
I started the violin when I was 8 years old at my hometown elementary school. I grew up in a very artsy town, which provided me the opportunities to learn music from around the world. These are a few reason why I love to collaborate with other musicians, create youtube videos, play different genres and mixes of various genres, writing my own pieces, traveling, and teaching others the love of music.

As I live in the Washington D.C. Metro area, scheduling/travel is flexible for me and easy to coordinate around my students' schedules. If there is a preferred lesson for your child not listed as "available" please feel free to inquire directly - we will find a time that works!

Violin students can expect to improve week to week in their technique. Every student learns uniquely; I teach students mindfulness and correct instrument techniques,
and apply foundational techniques in order to unlock their own individual sound. I can help any student to play with freedom, confidence, and expression.

I teach beginner piano students of all different ages. I can teach students to read music and pursue classical excellence, to learn how to play contemporary music using chord sheets, or both depending on the goals and preference of the student.

My passion is music and I firmly believe that great technique is essential to any and every style when learning an instrument. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better musician!

I'm a full-time professional musician who lives and works out of Fort Collins, Colorado. I was classically trained on violin through the Suzuki Method from age 8 to 18, and I've since been touring the country and playing gigs in the bluegrass "fiddle" style with my band, Head for the Hills.

Whether trying to learn classical violin techniques or old-time fiddle tunes, my students receive a well-rounded education that focuses on their individual strengths and interests without glossing over fundamentals and basic core techniques. If you're brand new to the instrument or if you're looking to expand your existing skill set, I'd love to help you reach your goals!

Students must be at least 7 years of age, self-motivated, and serious about learning the violin.

About Joseph
I am a touring musician who has traveled the country and world with my bluegrass band, Head for the Hills, for the last 15 years. I graduated from the University of Colorado, Denver in 2010 with a bachelors degree in Music and Entertainment Industry Studies, with a focus in music business.

I now live in Fort Collins, Colorado with my partner, Allie, and our two rescue chihuahuas. I'm always thrilled to teach what I've learned and figured out over my years of touring on students of all ages and skill levels.

I teach out of the Music District here in Fort Collins, a state-of-the-art, beautiful space located in the heart of downtown. I'm most versed in bluegrass and classical styles, but I'm open to exploring any genre a student has interest in, including amplified and electric violin styles.

Learn how to:
• Groove on fiddle tunes
• Improvise
• Back up your friends on the fiddle

Hello Everyone! My name is Sumaia Jackson. I'm an alumni of Berklee College of Music in Boston, and have 10 years of teaching experience in a multitude of different styles. Coming from a deep classical background, I have also been immersed in many folk and roots music traditions including Bluegrass, Appalachian Old Time, Celtic, and a bit of Jazz. From private instruction, coaching orchestra and chamber music groups, leading workshops, and teaching at fiddle camps, I've worked with players of all ages and levels, and I love exploring the nuanced stylistic languages.

Based out of the Bay Area, I'm available to teach violin and fiddle lessons in SF/Marin/Berkeley and surrounding areas.

Get in touch to schedule a lesson!

About Sumaia
I have experience teaching all levels and I love doing everything from teaching tunes, to exploring more modern techniques and setting of playing the fiddle, such as:
• What happens if your friends have a cool rock band and you want to jam with them but you play the violin and it feels awkward?
• What happens if you go play with them and your friend looks at you to take a solo in the middle of a tune? (AH!)
• What if you are playing in a traditional folk band and you want to figure out what else you can do besides play the melody?
. . . et cetera!

Not to worry, that's why I'm here, and I'm more than happy to help with all these problems and more! Playing the fiddle/violin can fill so many roles now a days and people LOVE hearing it! You'll be your town's new rock star! :)

I grew up in Santa Cruz, CA playing the fiddle and going to m
usic camps and studying classical music intensely as well as traditional fiddle music from many countries and regions. I studied in Boston at the Berklee College of Music, as well as lived in Nashville, and now hold a degree in Performance with a minor in American Roots Music. Throughout my many years of playing, I've been immersed in many different settings: I have experience playing amplified, being dropped into a jazz band and told to solo next to a saxophone player, being asked to come play with a local folk-rock cover band, playing at Bluegrass Festivals across North America, fronting a band, and being hired as a fiddle player to back up a singer-songwriter.

Currently I play and tour with various different groups:

• Jayme Stone's Folklife – a virtuosic folk group playing traditional music collected by folklorists and remaking them for modern ears
• The Real Vocal String Quartet – a string quartet with ties to classical, jazz, roots fiddle music
• The Honeyguides – an old-time trio drawing from Bluegrass, Old-Time and Celtic traditions
• The Tunestress Duo – a fiddle duo weaving together the worlds of Canadian, American, and Celtic fiddle styles
