I am a string specialist. That means I teach and play violin, viola, cello, double bass, guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, ukulele and piano. I earned B.A. earned from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley Colorado where I was a double major in classical guitar and double bass. In my senior year I was the recipient of the Annual Concerto Contest where I performed the "Concerto in A Major" on double bass with the University orchestra for the spring concert. I have played in both professional and semi-professional orchestras in Colorado and Arizona. I believe that any student will practice more if he or she likes the music they are playing. Periodically I will ask a student to give me a name of a piece of music that they would like to learn how to play. I notate it for them, often simplifying the rhythm and chords in Finale NotePad and give it to them free of charge. I teach students how to play music on their given instrument. Not just how to play the instrument but working on ...

I've completed about 1 year of lessons with Carolyn, and my experience has been exceptional.

Carolyn is insightful and encouraging. She knows when to offer critical feedback and when to offer positive feedback based on her student's temperament. She also paces progress based on the student's aptitude, too.

I'd recommend Carolyn for any beginning string musician without any hesitation.

Dr Carolyn is very patient & made every step of my beginning lesson enjoyable. I’m looking forward to my next lessons on the web with her!

I was a little hesitant in my first class as I am trying to learn it at older age but Panagiota was very friendly and made sure that the environment is comfortable for both of us. I had the first lesson and I would say it was good but too early to conclude the overall experience. I would prefer to provide meaningful feedback at the end of my sessions so that it will be informative and helpful for others. Thanks

She was very thorough in explaining the basics in a very short amount of time. We focused a lot on technique and what to work on until the next lesson.

I am a professional violinist and violist in the Boston area. I am a graduate of the New England Conservatory where I have studied with Miriam Fried, Donald Weilerstein, and Martha Katz. I have performed extensively throughout my life as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player on both the violin and viola in a variety of professional ensembles including substitute viola work with the Borromeo String Quartet. I draw from this performing background to teach my students of all ages and abilities.

I currently act as Adjunct Instructor of Violin and Viola at Merrimack College, where I serve as a primary instrumental teacher to enrolled students. I have also acted as the primary violin teacher for Main Street Music, LLC, in Waltham. Additionally, I run a private studio of approximately 20 students as young as 6 and as old as 60. Of these, some never touched an instrument before our first lesson, and some are serious conservatory-bound musicians intending to make a career as a ...

I have 19 years of experience playing the violin, and have cherished every moment. Playing music is one of the most powerful and emotional experience an individual can have, and my goal is to help you along your musical journey wherever it may take you. I have taught ages 7-70, and am passionate about a variety of genres though my core training was in classical. I have worked with students in all stages of development, whether picking up the instrument for the first time or preparing for college auditions or international competitions.

Lessons will always be tailored with YOUR goals in mind, and I strive to make sure you come away from every lesson feeling excited and musically and intellectually stimulated.

I spent a number of my formative years studying violin remotely, long before the pandemic brought students to online platforms. I believe that online learning is just as good as traditional in-person instruction, without rigid schedules or geographic barriers.

Looking forward

About Kiarra

I have a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a Master of Music in Violin Performance from McGill University. I have soloed with numerous orchestras, such as the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Arlington, Garland Symphony, Charleston Symphony Orc

"Aleksandre is an outstanding teacher! Truly one of the best. My son began taking lessons with Aleksandre a little more than a year ago. Aleksandre has a way of teaching that completely engages and excites my son while ensuring that he is learning how to read music and play with rhythm and feeling. When we had to go remote, Aleksandre did not miss a beat. My son has grown to love the violin so much that we increased our lessons to twice a week. I would highly recommend Aleksandre as a professional, thoughtful and extraordinary teacher of the violin."
