I'm glad I found Paul on takelessons.com. I was looking for someone to help me take my decent but untrained voice to the next level. Paul is committed to helping me advance toward my goal of being a singer-songwriter. In addition to the exercises we work on to strengthen my voice and gain control, he has given me some strategies to track my progress and improve more quickly. He also encourages me to take risks and go out and sing karaoke. He is caring and authentic and genuinely invested in my growth, and I am becoming a better musician because of it. Thank you, Paul!!

Have you always wanted to play the guitar but did not know where to start? Perhaps you've tried learning through videos, online guides, and books but couldn't quite grasp the content provided by the lessons. It can be very daunting and frustrating trying to learn something new and having no one to clarify the subject for you or no where to turn for questions. As a intermediate/advanced guitar player I am here to help! I am currently 23 years old and have been playing guitar for a little over 9 years. I am a self-taught guitarist and have taken some music theory courses in college. I have never taught lessons professionally but I can definitely teach you all I have learned from, general chords to fretting technique to basic leads and fingerstyle picking to rhythm/strumming and harmonics! I love playing a little bit of all genres. I am a very jovial and laid back person and I especially enjoy working with beginners and children as I know how stressful it can be learning to play an ...

Guitar is the first instrument I learned to play starting from when I was 12 years old. I have taught many students how to play guitar from the ground up!

My teaching method starts with what you want to learn to play. That's what it is all about, right? Learning the songs you want to play becomes a vehicle for knowing more about guitar.

For beginning guitar, it is best if we can meet in person so I can see your hand position and posture in detail.

"I have been playing the guitar for over 20 years, on and off.At first I just wanted to learn a few songs and impress people. I LOVE music and really wanted to play for myself. i have taken lessons from multiple people. Taking lessons with Jimmy took me to a new level. I thought I just wanted to to play fast but Jimmy taught me technique, music theory, composition, live playing concepts. I have learned more with Jimmy in 1 year than 4- 5 years with other teachers. The Light Bulb is on and I am playing better then I could imagine. BTW: people are impressed but I don't care, because I love music!"

"My lessons with Chris were amazing!! Chris teaches at a pace that is manageable and you never will feel overwhelmed. The bast part about his approach is his ability to teach music theory and not make it boring or complicated. Chris is also great at changing the lesson plan on the fly if we stumble on to something to explore further. My guitar playing improved greatly under Chris and I would recommend him to anyone looking to take lessons."

The atmosphere is relaxed and I always look forward to me next lesson."

"I have had a year's worth of lessons with Michael- our first lesson was 1 Feb 2016. When we hit our anniversary, I wrote down what I was able to accomplish because of his efforts in helping me to learn to play the guitar. I went from knowing NOTHING about the guitar to playing in 3 regular "gigs" (as he calls them) during our 1 year of lessons together. I would call that a success.

I had the guitar for a year before lessons, but with only using Youtube video tutorials and zero experience, I was not dedicated enough to learn anything on my own. So, that guitar just sat there until I ran across this site and chose Michael for my very first lesson, 1 Feb 2016. Well it is now 1 year later and after a year's worth of lessons, I want to publish a review. Michael was very patient with me. I am a very busy homeschooling mom. Originally, I signed up for guitar lessons thinking that it was an affordable option for me to learn and then teach my children- but it ended up being really fun for me to be able to play a tune all on my own! Well, after only 6 months of hard work, I joined (and still continue to play) on my church's praise and worship team. Michael helped me with questions about the music I was given to play. I knew NOTHING before and now I am on a worship team! I have also been asked to play in other places- it is all because of this teacher. I had A LOT of questions and Michael did an exceptional job explaining things without the frustration I would have had since I am not able to physically touch their guitar or their fingers. Before I joined the team, I emailed Michael songs that I was interested in learning how to play and he figured out the chords and strumming patterns and would teach me the song. He would record himself playing back the song (slow and then normal tempo) as well as provide a written tab or whatever it was that I needed in order to "get it."

I made a recording to document my journey (video below with a link to the written part). I know it's not the best, but I know from where I came and how far I had come with the guitar. If you are looking for a teacher who takes any kind of music that you are interested in and helps you reach your goals- whatever they might be for the guitar- then this guy is your guy. Thank you Michael for all of your hard work. Also, thank you for for being so patient with me when I did not do my homework as much as I should have. Your accountability and grace kept me going. Look at me now!!! https://youtu.be/l8yixvi1ohM"

"We are so lucky to find Nick for the first time when my daughter wants to learn Guitar. Nick is a professional musician. He is very busy but he is very nice to give a response fast and he is patient and helpful. My daughter already had 10 times lessons with Nick since Oct and she likes the teacher and has a lot of passion for learning with Nick. She is picky for teachers and does not like remote learning. But we feel excited she is happy with Nick and does well for remote learning. Nick is good at motivating her to teach what she likes and let her have more interests in the music."

How to Simplify Your Live Guitar Rig for Performances

Playing the guitar is such a fantastic experience. It’s so relieving to be on stage or in your designated practice space and just wail on your instrument.
