I have been playing trumpet since 5th grade! That is like 20 years! Then I went to school and learned how to teach it. I currently play with a group called Jaems Murphy's Vedic Eden and I'd love to share my experiences, skills, and techniques on trumpet! You preparing a solo or a piece to play in a group and need some help? Let me help you out!

About Michael
No need to be nervous before my lessons. I have taught lessons to ages 6 to students in their 70's! My lessons have a comfortable atmosphere where students can be okay learning with mistakes; through trial and error. I always keep a light mood with quick bits of humor. I teach in a relaxing way, but at the same time you may expect to leave with new musical knowledge every lesson. I enjoy showing the connections between music and other areas of study and life. I always finds ways to work a student's personal interests into lessons. I always strive to help students learn how to practice in an efficient and organized way.

I am a published composer and active performer/teacher/conductor with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and a Master's Degree in Conducting!

About Michael
Michael has worked with kids for 10 years in schools and arts programs to find fun and their best self through performance. He has taught orchestra, chamber music, jazz band and music theory in the public schools, while performing in local ensembles in and around the city. He also has studied drama, voice and movement and believes all these skills help in expressing yourself--no matter what pieces you want to play!

In addition to working with students K-12, he also loves working with adults. I try to provide a nurturing atmosphere for someone trying revive or discover previously hidden musical interests!

*** Lesson Details ***
We begin with what we love. The student usually chooses one of his or her favorite songs to interpret. Later, we add music, usually from the classical or jazz fields, that build our skills and help us f
eel successful. All technique is based on real music. Learning scales, keys and music theory become part of the music. By the end of 6 months, we will have a "repertoire" of several songs that express our best self!

Elementary through high school students and adults in your home or at Ted Brown Music (formerly, Capitol Music Center), University District, Seattle

About Glenn
I have been tutoring trumpet for seven years. My tutoring approach is first to determine the student's purpose, goals, and objectives and then determine his/her current performance level. Next, we begin instruction to take the student to the next level and beyond. I offer trumpet news and tips on my blog.

I have a B.A. degree in English Literature with a minor in music, from the University of Washington. While an undergraduate student at U.W., I was a scholarship student in the Husky Band; marched at football games, the Tournament of Roses Parade, and the Rose Bowl game; played in pep band at basketball games; and played in a brass ensemble. Also, I played in orchestras for musicals and opera. In high school, I was a member of the Texas All-State Band.

I now specialize in private lessons for trumpet and cornet. Also, in September 2
015, I began my fifth year of teaching brass instruments for two elementary bands at Skyview Jr. High School in Bothell. In spring 2014, I taught trumpet sectionals in the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble at Inglemoor High School in Kenmore. I'm a member of the U.W. Husky Alumni Band, as well as being Bugler for the VFW Post 1040 Honor Guard, playing at numerous military funerals and ceremonies. Finally, I play in a church orchestra. Please find my blog online.

***Geographic Coverage***
We can meet at your home (no travel charge, unless far from Interstate Highway corridors) or at Ted Brown Music in the University District, Seattle (small fee for studio rental). I cover homes from about I-90 northward on the Seattle and Bellevue sides and in Southwest Snohomish County. When I tutor youths in a residence, an adult must be present. When students live in more distant locations, we can meet at Ted Brown Music.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I bring my own mouthpiece (and horn, occasionally), lesson books, and CD's to your home. Students have their own horn, music stand, school music and music lesson books and CD's, if any.

*** Specialties ***
Marching band, concert band, brass ensemble, pep band, jazz band, orchestra.

Chad Walker teaches the full spectrum of music theory. Though jazz is his true love, classical, pop, rock, R&B, blues, folk, are all part of his forte. I have learned valuable lessons about using scale theory as the starting point to craft improvisation, and how to create complex cords that carry original melodies when writing original jazz. He is a patient thorough mentor that helped me develop my own personal voice. But if you are a beginner, I highly recommend Chad Walker because he can build the platform for a person to enjoy playing music for a lifetime.

Experienced trumpet and brass teacher of 27 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of technical skills. I specialize in Classical, rock, blues, and jazz. I can work with any method book that is used in schools, but I also like to supplement with the Jamey Aebersold books for improvisation and the Rubank, Clarke Technical Studies and Arban Method. I have studied with Vince Penzarella, Mel Broiles, Laurie Frink, Ed Treutel and many others.

About Donna
Hey, I'm Donna and I've been teaching trumpet, Brass instruments and saxophones since 1987. I am a certified teacher in NY, and have recently moved to Los Angeles to enjoy the weather and perform Rock, Jazz, Blues with many different bands.

I love starting students out on their instruments, and have had great success helping beginners and intermediate players do really well in school and at Solo festivals, All County and All State.

I have judged NYSSMA Festivals for over 15 years (and still fly back to do it!), and know how to help students play well under the pressure of an audition.

I have had students get accepted into Juilliard and Manhattan Pre-Colleges (Jazz), USDAN, many other music camps and colleges across the country.

I have performed at the Orpheum Theatre (LA), City National Grove (Anaheim), Wolf Den (Mohegan Sun,
CT), World Cafe (Philadelphia), Paramount NY, Landmark Theatre, Dix Hills Performing Arts Centre, NYCB Theatre, Riverhead Blues Festival, Patchogue Theatre, Theatre Three and numerous restaurants and clubs in NY and Los Angeles metro areas.

From performing with many bands, I know how exciting it is to play songs. I want all my Beginner and Intermediate students to enjoy making music by ear and by reading. In addition to classical music, I also love teaching Jazz and improvisation to all my students, which makes them more independent and creative. I have also used many method books like Breeze Easy, Essential Elements 2000, Rubank, Jump Right In, Clarke, Arban and Universal Method for Saxophone.

I love helping students reach their potential!

I have many videos on YouTube to help young players, trumpet and saxes.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I predominantly use Selmer Mark VI saxophones (alto and tenor)

Bach Stradivarius Model 37 Trumpet
Cannonball Trumpet

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in helping students overcome embouchure problems.
I also have vast experience teaching students with braces. I have written articles on this topic on my site and others over the years.

Donna is a very enthusiastic teacher. Even before she scheduled the 1st lesson, she asked about my background in playing sax and what my goals are (which is sight reading and improvisation). She immediately recommended a couple of books. The next day she came for the 1st lesson, I was prepared and she came prepared. I am self-taught in playing sax. She is my first private tutor. She gave me tips on warming up, improving my tone, pitch exercises and getting the right rhythm on a jazz song. She brought her sax also and played side by side as she tutored me. She gave me homework for my next weeks lesson. She knows exactly what I need. I am so motivated to play more. She even stayed longer than one hour just to make sure I get my questions answered. I'm telling you she's the best. School starts next week, I can't wait to tell my classmates about her. I'll be in 10th grade. You have nothing to lose. In fact, I've already learned more in 1 hour than what I learned in 1 month at school.

Hey there, trumpet players!
My name is Scott Watts and I have worked as a professional musician and private instructor for 15 years, starting my musical career playing at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony and in jazz clubs in my teens. Over the years I have performed across the United States, Canada and Europe; working with and performing alongside some of the biggest names in classical, jazz, latin, and irish music. Notable persons include Gerard Schwartz and the Seattle Symphony, Wynton Marsalis, the Dropkick Murphys, Roy Hargrove, and Bobby Shew to name a few!

While many teachers have a set cirriculum that they have their students adhere to, I customize my lessons for each individual student. I have worked with a wide variety of students of different ages, musical backgrounds and preferences. While my students are most certainly challenged regarding practice routines and expectations ("Only Practice on the Days You Eat!"), you'd be hard-pressed to find a single student or ...

About Scott
Hey there Trumpeters and Potential Trumpeters!

A few more notes about myself and my background...

I've spent most of my life working as a musician, since 1999, when I was 13. I took to the trumpet on the suggestion of an amazing public school music teacher when I showed up asking to join the jazz band without the ability to play an instrument or even read music...(had no idea what I was doing at the time)!

However, I started taking lessons with him that summer and by the end of the school year I'd gone from bottom chair to lead in every group at school and within a couple of years started performing with my teachers and with professional musicians in the greater Seattle area, then hitting the recording studios. By 15 I was invited to be a guest musician with the Seattle Symphony.

I studied under the Principal Trumpeter of the Seattle
Ballet company from 14 to 18 and went to college with a passion for music. I studied music at the University of Maine and University of Nebraska at Omaha, performing, touring and teaching along the way. During that time, I joined a few small jazz ensembles, along with the university bands as well as a 20+ irish-rock group that I continue to play and tour with today.

I have also worked as a firefighter for over five years, and recently completed my training at Creighton University and earned my license to serve as an EMT in the state of Nebraska...maybe going for paramedic as well. I love working with and helping people!

I have a number of students in the Omaha area now and I would love to meet you (whether for online for online or face to face for in-house lessons) and see if you would like me to help you become the amazing trumpeter and musician that you want to be!

Thanks for your consideration and I look forward to meeting you!
- Scott
