Everyone responds differently to music, that is why I prepare special lessons for each student. As a vocal coach, I work with students of all ages. The repertoire that I recommend to beginner students includes Disney, Broadway and classical music. For intermediate and advanced vocal student, I have successfully prepared them for competitions, Broadway and University auditions as well as personal enjoyment.

About Paul
Paul M is an American born, New York-based Piano teacher, Vocal coach, Pianist, Composer and Artist. As an educator, Paul is part of The Suffolk Piano Teachers Forum, College Music Society and Music Teachers National. He has been an Adjunct-instructor at New York University (NYU). Paul also conducts master classes and seminars in The United states and South America. For the past few years, he has implemented classes in composition and music history in the coastal area of Ecuador and New York. His music studio in New York City is in high demand. In 2006, he received a Bachelor Degree of Music from Stony Brook University.
As a Pianist, In 2006 Paul was a prizewinner at the Music Club of Douglaston Piano Competition. For two consecutive years, Paul was awarded The Suffolk County Piano Forum Prize. XLNT Music recently wrote, “Paul is a fine pianist that performs with superb pianism and great sensitivity.”
 His recent public performances include Ecuador South America, Steinway Hall NYC, The United Nations, Faust Harrison Hall, Saint Peters NYC and The Staller Center. Paul has performed with The Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra and The New York University Symphony Orchestra. He has studied with well-known piano teachers including: Martin Canin, Morey Ritt, Tina Dahl, and Anita Gelber. In 2011 he released a record consisting of his performance of original compositions for solo piano that is available in bookstores and on iTunes.
As a composer Paul has composed music for the feature film Documentary Between the Shades, directed by Jill Salvino and premiered at the Soho International Film Festival in 2017. In 2014, Paul was the composer for the radio show Ackerman Associates Meets Dracula written and directed by Peter Stass. In 2014 he wrote the score for, Lies People Tell, a short film that premiered at the san pedro film festival. In 2011, he released his first solo record Succession of images, a song cycle for solo piano. In 2017, he released his second record Hope, a chamber music work recorded with clarinetist Thomas Piercy and Violinist Patrisa Tomassini. Recent public piano performances of his music include Ecuador in South America, Steinway Hall NYC, The United Nations, Spectrum NYC, Faust Harrison Hall, Saint Peters in NYC and The Staller Center in Stony Brook NY.

As an artist, Paul is known for creating large instillations, paintings and live performing art pieces. From 2014-2016, he was the artist in residence at Spectrum Gallery in NYC. In 2014, he completed the Elevator Time Machine, a large instillation made of elevator parts that responds to sound. He also wrote and produced a 20 minute live art piece called Static in Movement for piano and video. His acrylic on canvas works have also been presented at Spectrum NYC, The Art Bar, The Gallery at Logos and Ward-Nasse gallery.

While working with intermediate to advanced students, I have had coached them to apply and get accepted into some of the top Universities and Conservatories in the country. My students, beginner intermediate and advanced levels, have been awarded for their performances and activities in schools and competitions.
I am also a composition teacher. I work with composition students from beginner to advance. My composition students, over the years, range from all ages starting at 7. My students, after the first year, have been able to write string quartets and piano trios. My advanced students have entered competitions all over the country and are very successful in their composition practice. Some of their compositions have been performed in famous concert halls and schools.
As a vocal coach, I work with students of all ages. The repertoire that I recommend to beginner students includes Disney, Broadway and classical music. For intermediate and advanced vocal student, I have successfully prepared them for competitions, Broadway and University auditions as well as personal enjoyment.
Most recently I held a piano, composition and vocal recital for my students at the world famous Steinway Hall in New York City. I believe that some students work better when there is motivation for performance activities. For that reason I host these type of events. Students that decide they want to take place in these events perform among all levels. I offer these performance opportunities as an invitation. Each student has a choice as to whether they would like to perform.

I have a Master's in Vocal Performance from Portland State University, and over a decade of vocal training and performance experience.

I teach voice lessons to kids, teenagers, and adults.

My voice students range in ability from absolute beginner to intermediate with significant previous musical and vocal training. I have helped the beginning students learn to match pitch and read notes on the staff. My voice students learn to sing with purer vowels, increased breath support, and to access greater vocal range.

I teach beginning piano to all ages. I teach students as young as 5 as long as they are able to stay focused for the duration of a half hour lesson. Most of my piano students are in the 7 -10 range, but I teach some beginning adults as well.

Voice students will learn to improve their technique thr
ough proper breathing, correct vowels, space, and resonance. I teach repertoire based on the students' interest, but I am well versed in classical and operatic repertoire in English, French, German, and Italian, as well as some musical theatre and jazz. I also teach pop songs for those who are interested. I can help you improve your technique for whatever style of music you want to sing.

Piano students will learn to read music, play with correct form, learn scales, and improve their musicianship skills. I teach out of lesson books (mostly Faber) to improve technique, but I want students to learn supplemental pieces that are fun for them as well.

Great first lesson! I feel like I learned a lot about technique and pronunciation. I get really nervous to sing in front of people but Erin made me feel comfortable. I definitely recommend her if you want to not only sing better but also learn the lingo, techniques, and theory. Looking forward to our next lesson :)

Bring sheet music to start with from your favorite Broadway musicals and movie songs - found in music stores or on-line. Being a Senior, I felt that a person who was close to my age would be better for me. I feel now that we would have gotten along even if I was 10 years old. Don brought me to a comfortable level from the outset with his style and knowledge.

In a one hour lesson, we will spend twenty five minutes on vocal exercises designed to teach support and placement. Having performed leads on and Off Broadway, I know that without good technique you can't do eight shows a week, do back to back sets in a nightclub or cabaret or tour as a pop or rock singer. The second half of the lesson is spent on songs. As an acting as well as vocal coach, I focus on dramatics as well as musical interpretation. A singer must be connected to the words as well as the music. I hope to teach you to love singing as much as I do.

Mary Phillips is excellent! I highly recommend her. Her knowledge of technique and her ability to explain it's proper applications helped my daughter improve not only her vocal quality but her range. Mary also worked on building her self confidence and attitude. I've notice a significant improvement in her approach to auditions. She is less nervous and more confident in her skills. We had a hard time trying to find an instructor who values someone with a lower range. I wish we had found her earlier!

Mary was an absolute godsend! I started lessons with her to help prepare for college theatre auditions. I was so overwhelmed with the whole process and didn't even know where to begin picking monologues and songs. Mary helped me so much by sending different monologues that she thought would fit and we would go from there. She was always there to answer any questions I had, and I had a lot! She is patient and encouraging and our lessons were always a lot of fun but I also learned so much! I also took voice lessons from Mary and in doing so, my voice has greatly improved and so has my confidence. I just finished all of my auditions and I truly could not have done this without her. I couldn't recommend her more!

I have studied this style of singing for over 20 years and I have taught Broadway and Musical singing as well as how to safely Belt for over 10 years. The technique is still from a classical background so all my students learn a variety of tools that will help them with this style as well as others. In all of my singing classes students learn technique, music theory, sight signing, and aural skills. They will also learn musicality and how to emotionally connect with their music.

Kristin is an excellent public speaking teacher. She combines voice instruction, with guidance on body language and delivery. I worked with her on several speeches and saw great results. Highly recommend her services.

Kristin is an excellent teacher. Very patient and very approachable. She is very knowledgeable in both theatre and music. She started me on basics such as breath control, support, and learning to sing as easily as possible. She was very attentive to my goals, in this case it was to learn as well as get ready for an audition for a local musical. I've had a great experience working with her an would recommend her highly. A+++

My name's Kayla and I'm a voice teacher/actor/singer/dancer from Portland. I've got 16 years experience in the performing arts under my belt. I can teach all vocals styles : Classical,Jazz,Musical Theatre,Rock and Metal. I specialize in Rock and Metal vocals with an emphasis on vocal safety and technique. I'm also available for acting coaching and audition preparation. I also offer my opinions and an inside look into the performing arts whenever I can. My daughter really enjoyed Kayla's lessons. She feels that her natural ability for singing was enhanced through her lessons. We definitely recommend her services.

Kayla is very informative and descriptive about how the body works in producing sound. She not only showed technique but also gave some easy tips on how to improve. Best of all, I finally understand how a raspy sound can occur without damaging the voice! This is a thing I've found difficulty in finding online, in a way that does not damage your vocal cords. All in all, a fun teacher and I recommend her, especially if you like rock/metal as she seems to have a great knowledge of this form of vocals.

When I think about singing, I think about flow. The voice should be able to move without any inhibitions. I strive to sing in this way and to teach my students how to achieve to sing this way. My technique involves vocal warm ups that will help loosen your voice, your body and your mind. I also find that expression is very important in music. We will go into every song searching for the right emotions to convey not just for the song, but for yourself. With every lesson you will find it easier to correct yourself during your practicing and end up falling in love with making music.

What a passionate teacher! Ana is an amazing instructor and performer and it is easy to see just how much she loves doing both those things. She has a real drive and commitment to teaching and is such an inspiring artist.

Ana Quintana knows how to motivate you to keep going. She have what I look for in a teacher and that is patience, flexibility, focus, and most importantly she have the knowledge, and because of that she sets high expectations for us, the students. It's a gift been taught by her.

I'm a firm believer that we're all singers. The only difference is the ones of us that take time to learn how to use our instrument, our voice! I base our lessons on my students goals: what they want to learn and accomplish at the end of each lesson/series of lessons, perhaps working towards a performance coming up. I try and go over not only the singing, but the entire performance prep, including vocal health and exercises.

Livi began taking piano lessons at a young age, and found her love for music watching a stage production of "The Sound Of Music" in Hong Kong where she grew up. After receiving her BA for Film & TV, with a concentration in Audio and Composition from SMU in Dallas, TX. This summer, she will be perusing a performance certificate at Berklee School of Music - Valencia, Spain campus.

Livi moved to California and began teaching music and film making, along with writing and performing all over Los Angeles. After falling in love with the Pacific Northwest at a friends wedding on the Willamette River, Livi moved to Portland and continued teach

Katherine is an amazing teacher. I can't believe how quickly I went from knowing nothing about the piano to being able to play some of my favorite songs. I would recommend her to anyone and any age range. I also think she teaches singing and I've noticed that she has a wonderful voice!

Katherine is a truly superb teacher, who has great insight into not only the technical aspects of singing, but also the emotional and psychological wellbeing of the singer themselves. When my daughter Charlotte told me she wanted to audition for the school musicale, I did have my doubts. She is incredibly shy and sometimes comes off as quite aloof. I thought perhaps voice lessons would help her to loosen up a bit more than her weekly piano instruction. I found Katherine through a friend whose daughter was also taking voice lessons. At our first meeting, Katherine was a joy to speak with, warm and welcoming towards my daughter, and I had no reservations about the arrangement. After a few short weeks, I noticed a change in Charlotte's confidence and her motivational drive. She was excelling not only in her music, but also in her other areas of study. This trend continued up until the day of the audition. Charlotte had the confidence to audition for the musicale, and she DID earn a role. I am incredibly proud of my daughter and incredibly grateful to her teacher. Katherine has helped my daughter in immeasurable ways, and we look forward to future study with her.
