Hello!  My name is Louise, and I have a vast amount of teaching experience in diverse subjects.  I am primarily, a performer and voice teacher.  My bachelor's degree is in vocal performance; I have over 2 decades of experience singing vocal solos, choral music, performing musical theatre roles, and competing in auditions and contests.  I have over ten years experience teaching private voice lessons and directing church choral programs.  I love to sing and help others meet their performance and audition goals!

I also have almost 10 years experience as an educator in public schools.  I hold a master's degree in special education, and worked in classrooms with students with intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, and behavioral disorders.  This experience gives me an edge that allows me to modify and personalize each lesson based on student demeanor and ability.  

I am also an online English teacher (native speaker).  I hope to make learning English fun and practical based on your goals and purposes for learning.  I use a combination of methods including music-based activities.

Learning or perfecting skills can often feel intimidating and challenging at times.  In each personalized lesson, it is my goal that you feel encouraged and appreciated for the unique singer or learner you are. I will give you the tools you need to become a confident and composed performer and to reach your goals as a student.  I will provide fun and interactive exercises that help you master the basics of breath, posture, tone, diction, and the foundations of musicianship.  Students will learn how to prepare a song and how to present a song in dramatic and interpretive form.  Students will learn how to prepare for auditions and competitions (choral, solo, theatre role, etc.), and how to overcome stage fright and other challenges that are unique to live performance.    I use a variety of teaching tools such as physical movement, imagery, and visual aids.  I specialize in classical singing, musical theatre, and the jazz/blues sound.   My goal is for you to enjoy singing and to meet your goals, whether you want to just sing at home for your family or land a leading role in a musical!

I love Louise. she is helping me with intonation, pitch, sight singing, ear training. I mostly sing with a church choir but her instruction has really helped me.

I just started singing lessons, earlier this year, wanting to learn more about singing in the style of crooning (e.g., Michael Buble'). While I had sung in the past, I didn't fully understand my range. Louise not only helped me discover my range, but build on it. She's incredibly caring and patient and has taught me breathing techniques, warm-up exercises, and helped me up my confidence. Louise is, without question, one of the best teachers I've ever had worked with.

Isolating the Soft Palate Part 1

This video guides you through several of my staple exercises for warming up head voice and finding the "hoot" space that we need for singing many genres such as pop, legit musical theatre, and classical.  Exercising head voice should be a routine part of a well rounded vocal artist.

We will review the major scale, ascending and descending.  Students will practice identifying various combinations of all the notes of the major scale by ear.

Ear Training with the Major Scale (Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti)

We will review all the notes of the major scale (Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti, Do), ascending and descending.  Using solfege hand symbols, students will sightsing the major scale in various combinations, testing their ability to identify patterns of notes including stepwise motion and skips (intervals).

Review the first five notes of the major scale.  Practice identifying various combinations of these notes by ear.  Notes will move in step-wise motion as well as skips.

Review the first five notes of the major scale and practice singing the notes using solfege.  Practice singing the notes in various patterns including stepwise motion and skips.

Fundamentals of Sightsinging: Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol

We will review the first three notes of the major scale and practice identifying various patterns using these tones.  Students will be able to practice and check their accuracy.  

Ear Training: Do, Re, Mi

This video will introduce the first three notes of the major scale using the solfege system.  Students will sing the three notes individually, then practice singing a variety of patterns using hand symbols.
