About Joseph

Joey aka CelloJoe is an anomaly in the world of cellists. By combining cello with beatboxing, he has created a unique genre: Classical Hip Hop.  CelloJoe records live on stage with a loop pedal and produces intricate tapestries of harmony, melody, and rhythm. His beatboxing (vocal percussion

My 7 year old son started taking piano lessons with Joey this summer. He is very knowledgeable, flexible, my son loves taking lessons with him and is learning a lot. The setup is great and we have been able to have virtual piano lessons during the pandemic. He also provides recordings of each lesson. Highly recommend!

Joe was able to work with my daughter to approach some very complex material (using Abelton live to live loop and edit her songs) at a pace and with a vocabulary and tone that completely defused an otherwise intimidating situation. His calm, steady manner spiced with just the right touch of dry wit and his keen ear for a mean beat kept the lessons fun and very productive. Joey's not just a fantastic and unique musician and teacher, however, he's a great person and a fantastic influence to have in your life.

Joey is the best! A lesson from Joey is always a highlight of the week. I'd be surprised if you don't feel the same based on his talent, his warmth, his humor, and his intelligence.

I have played in a variety of musicals and various college orchestras and chamber groups. Because of my approach to music I don't consider classical my forte but I can still teach any student cellist a great amount about beginning to advanced playing in any style - including classical.

I am also comfortable playing a variety of styles on the cello, namely jazz.

About Jared

I am overjoyed and grateful to say I have been teaching music since 2008. I am a very friendly and fun teacher with a great deal of professionalism and patience. More importantly, I love teaching and playing music with a passion. I play a great variety of instruments and have had the opportunity

5 star teacher - coach and mentor - Great patience for a beginner like myself - never played before but now I’m comfortable easing into lessons - he shows you why your playing and then guides you through the lessons at your own pace - he also has the latest technologies to help - like overhead screens and sheet music that you can understand- I just signed up for another discount series of 7 lessons - I never give reviews but in this case if I can help someone who us not sure were to start - he is the perfect instructor-

I love sharing my passion for music with all of my students - ages 5 through 72.

You can always recognize a skilled cellist. The music sounds smooth and graceful, the tone quality is lovely. Unskilled cellists just don’t sound the same. What’s the difference? Skill of course. The skill to play a very large instrument with relaxed hands and arms by using your core muscles to transfer your body weight through your arms and hands into the cello. Not every cello teacher knows how to teach that.

I believe that my unique combined musical and medical background makes me a better cello teacher. In addition to my graduate and undergraduate musical training and extensive musical experience, My knowledge of human anatomy and mechanics of how the body works can help you develop habits that will lead to the beautiful singing tone that’s makes the cello a favorite.

We will then build on those habits to develop good intonation, a lovely vibrato and a variety of bowing techniques ...

I received about 10 lessons from JoAnn and feel very good with the results. I started playing guitar and singing in a small band and knew that I needed help. Joann educated me with many warm up lessons, a good start on reading music, and numerous exercises towards reaching pitch that will also save my vocal chords from harm. It's up to me to practice and use the available tools that JoAnn has introduced me to while I take a break from lessons while traveling. JoAnn is a professional singing teacher.

She is great! My daughter really enjoys her lessons and we appreciate how thorough JoAnn is.

JoAnn is a very patient and kind teacher. In the last few lessons I've had, she has taught me more than Ive learned with my previous teacher of 8 years. She is very understanding and teaches her students everything we need to know to be a good vocalist. I would highly recommend her.

Aaron spends quality time with our daughter and goes through material that is appropriate for her playing level. We are extremely pleased with his attention to her positioning and bowing. Great thanks to his teaching to help our daughter to work on skills!

Aaron teaches piano to my 8 year old daughter, Abby. She is shy but loves piano and she very much looks forward to his visits! He customizes her lessons to her skill level and interests. No question he is a serious musician, but he is also laid back and funny which is perfect for young kids as it puts them at ease. Abby is thriving under Aaron's instruction, I'm so glad we found him!

"Mr. Anderson has been a great influence on my life. As a cello teacher, Mr. Anderson has a wealth of knowledge ranging from the making of the cello to the history of composers to just random facts. Mr. Anderson has been my teacher from the 6th grade to my senior year. During those 6 years, he helped me grow into a great cello player that as a senior, I was able to play a solo with my school orchestra as a senior capstone. He, also, understood, that during this time, not only is his job to teach me cello but also to help and guide me into a better person. I have had many great and amazing teachers in high school and college and Mr. Anderson is among the best. I will never forget those 6 years and will fondly look back at these formative years."

"Ryan is a great teacher. He is very patient with my 9 year old son Max who is new to the cello. Max looks forward to his weekly lessons and Ryan is doing a fabulous job at helping him keep up with his fellow Cello players at school.
Max has requested a longer lesson time which is a good sign he is beginning to feel more confidant.
Ryan is very professional and shows that he really cares about Max's progress. My husband and I were unsure if Cello lessons online would work but everything is going smoothly so far...Plus it's much more convenient."

"Corey is the single biggest reason I stuck with music and was eventually accepted to several notable music conservatories including the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University and Oberlin Conservatory. I began studying with Corey at the age of 9, and he made the entire learning process exciting and engaging. His enthusiasm for music is contagious for students at all levels, and his expertise in guiding his pupils through the extremely complex process of learning a stringed instrument is unparalleled. Corey brings decades of pedagogical and professional experience to each lesson, and is always eager to impart this wisdom on his students. I cannot recommend Corey enough, for students at any level he is the best teacher you will be able to find!"

"I've had something like 6 or 8 lessons with Chris so far and he's awesome. If you're not sure what to work on he'll come up with a great "standard" curriculum for you, but if you have particular interests or tastes he tailors your lessons accordingly - which keeps you motivated and makes practicing fun. He's got a huge range and can easily switch between styles if you have diverse interests. He's also cool about letting you decide how much focus you want to put on theory and learning to read music, so you never feel like you're just grinding through anything in order to get to the fun stuff. He's also just a really nice, funny dude so lessons are enjoyable from start to finish. I especially like the games he uses to teach various techniques/sight reading/improving your ear, etc. Really glad I ended up taking lessons with Chris, can't recommend him enough. :-)"

Is Cello Hard to Learn? Read THIS Before Taking Lessons

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification. It does require focused, daily practice time and a good teacher to guide you along the way. How far you progress with cello is a direct result of the amount of quality time you put into practicing the instrument. Even someone who puts in just 30 minutes a day will notice a signi …
