Isaiah is a passionate instructor and brings his love of the cello and performance to students of all ages and backgrounds. Ensuring that each of his students receives a highly individualized learning experience, Isaiah spends a great deal of time creating unique plans of study for each pupil. He strives to make lessons engaging, fast-paced, and exciting. Isaiah has worked for several non-profit arts organizations, youth orchestras, and school systems teaching the cello, all the while maintaining a sizable private cello studio. He has taken advanced coursework in music pedagogy, teaching artistry, and Alexander Technique, incorporating modern techniques as well as practices from the rich history of cello tutelage into his teaching methods. In my teaching, I focus on developing strong technical foundation, which is crucial to develop at a very early stage for a future success, and nurturing students’ creativity and natural musical talents. As an active concert musican, I understand challenges that students may face in learning cello and how inspiring can be a productive practicing! I don't teach how to play and be dependant on a teacher, but rather how to analyze and enhance your practicing patterns, listen to yourself, think, be creative and independant: everything that encompasses joy of playing music

Hi, My name is Geoff and I' m here to teach you the Cello. I offer Technical studies, Solo pieces, NYSSMA, Scales and Arpeggios, Bow Technique, Symphony Repertoire, School Orchestra and other ensemble work and Reading skills. My students do great at NYSSMA, All County as well as LI String Festival. What I teach you, you' ll take with you for ever. Let' s get playing!

I love playing and teaching the cello, and I'm so excited to share that with you as you learn to play the music you've been hearing in your head. I'll work with you to create a personalized study plan that is engaging, positive, and progress-oriented. My teaching style is as slow as you need, as fast as you can go. Technique should always serve the music, so we'll focus on creating art and telling the story that you want to tell.

Lessons are open to anyone; even if you don’t have a cello yet! I have worked with beginning students learning the basics of reading music, to advanced players & colleagues looking for a careful ear. For learners under 10, I recommend 30-45 minutes. For all other players, there's no time limit; I love to go into details and can work as long as you want! I have over 30 years of experience teaching cello. Every student has different needs; I work with you at whatever point you are at; beginners through advanced students welcome. I have a doctorate in cello. I've played cello all my life; in recent years I have learned (and can teach) 5-string cello, as well.

I recommend lessons 30 minutes in duration for beginners, particularly children. (Adult beginners can choose 30 or 45 minutes.) Students who can play longer pieces definitely need a little longer lesson so we get through everything.

I use Suzuki books for their inexpensive repertoire but I do not teach using the Suzuki method nor do I teach rote playing. I supplement these books with technique materials from Rick Mooney (Position Pieces, Thumb Position) and studies by cellist-composers of the past. If you have an interest in another area of playing, let's talk and find pieces that interest you.

I have been playing the cello for 20 years and started teaching in 2010. I use a hybrid Suzuki method, that introduces learning music a little earlier. For more advanced cellists, we concentrate on advanced methods and etudes to refine the craft.
