It was apparent in the first lesson that Susanna is an experienced, understanding, thorough, and patient teacher. She carefully covered all the basics: different parts of the violin, proper posture, finger positions, etc., making it easy for our daughter to get started on the violin. She corrected our daughter’s mistakes right away and moved on only when our daughter got a good grasp of the material.

I love playing and teaching the cello, and I'm so excited to share that with you. I make lessons fun and engaging, and you'll leave feeling positive and focused on progress. I believe that the technique should serve the music, so we'll always focus on creating art and telling a story. Cello playing mirrors life, so what we do in the practice room will have much larger applications than you might anticipate! From beginning students learning the basics to advanced players who need a push in the right direction, I aim to help you improve quickly and have a great time doing so.

About Claire
I'm a recent graduate of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, where I recently won the 2017 Cello Competition to perform the Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto No. 1 with orchestra. Previously, I attended Yale University where I earned my Bachelor's degree in psychology. I have spent most of my summers performing at the Aspen Music Festival and School in Colorado, and I have played in festivals from Indiana to Italy. My cello teachers have included Eric Kim (Jacobs), Richard Aaron (Juilliard), Alan Harris (Eastman School), Maria Kisoupolos (NY Philharmonic), Eric Bartlett (NY Philharmonic), and Wolfram Koessel (American String Quartet). I'm an active performer on the East Coast, collaborating with artists such as harpist Nancy Allen and flutist Carol Wincenc. I have taught almost as long as I have played, beginning with local communi
ty service and growing to teach as part of the Aspen Music Festival PALS program. I live and breathe the cello, and I can't wait to share my passion with you.

I’m have over 30 years of experience teaching cello. Every student has different needs; I work with you at whatever point you are at. I have a doctorate in cello.

About Brenda
I love teaching cello! I’ve spent 30+ years of my life doing it and I think I’m good at what I do. :) One of the best parts of teaching is connecting you with your dreams. I’m open to teaching music you’ll enjoy playing and I love talking about cello and my love of classical music. I’m happy to help you find music you can play at your level and will love playing.

Many of my students find they really enjoy taking lessons with me because I speak their language—I understand their love of different types of music, I hear their frustrations and can help them solve their problems, and I’m happy to spend a few minutes in a lesson “nerding out” about whatever exciting cello-thing came across their radar this week.

I have a reputation for students with solid technique who have learned how to solve problems and play in tune, in rhythm, with
good sound and musical understanding. Let me help you do so!

Education:
DMA in cello performance from the University of South Carolina
MM in cello performance and pedagogy from Northern Illinois University
BA in music history, also from NIU

I’ve taught cello at Clemson University, North Greenville University, Anderson University, and the University of South Carolina, as well as for 30+ years in my private studio. I've been playing for over 40 years.

First lesson went great. Brenda started me with the basics and was very patient. Answered all my questions. I feel that I will be off to a good start with Brenda guiding me. PS I’m 53 years old, brand new to cello. I’ve always dreamed of playing.
I used to play French Horn 40 years ago. Bass clef is all new to me.

I originally learned how to play the cello on my own in my school's orchestra. When I went to college and decided to bring my cello with me, I knew it was time to take proper lessons like everyone else. Brenda was able to help me iron out all of the bad habits I had developed over seven years of playing cello with no formal corrections. She clearly cared about me and my interests as a student. I can confidently say Brenda equipped me with the tools, techniques, and attitude I needed to play the cello for the rest of my life.

I use a variety of techniques to help you &/or your student understand and have a love for playing a string instrument. I use many supplemental books such as Orchestra Expressions, Suzuki method, Popper, and many others for the full scope of learning the instruments and the pieces! (:

About Savana
Hello! I recently graduated in 2014 from Baylor University with a Cello Performance degree. I currently teach elementary orchestra (4th & 5th grade) in Dallas ISD. As well as teaching, I currently perform with the New TX Symphony Orchestra in Dallas and in my church orchestra on viola and cello.

We will learn a variety of pieces ranging from classical to contemporary/pop music while learning the techniques to play each string instrument! Can anyone say "Baby Shark" and "Despacito" fast enough? And I focus on music theory ---basic note and rhythm reading & writing and recognizing musical symbols.

I am also bilingual in Spanish ---fluent in reading/writing and basic in conversation (although I am continuously learning & improving my language skills!)

I am a professional Spanish cellist with an extensive career in cello performance. I have taught in Music Schools in my country for years. I am specialized in all levels and all ages students. I cater to the needs of each student even in other musical subjects. I am also specialized in historical performance since I have studied baroque cello for a long time, so I have different points of view about the correct form of playing cello.
Let's get started!

About Macarena
I am a professional Spanish cellist and baroque cellist. I graduated from Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid, Spain, with Bachelor's of Music, specifically cello and baroque cello.
My career as a musician is very extensive, not only in the field of performance, but also in the field of teaching. I started giving private lessons very young at the age of sixteen until now. It gave me the skills to develop self-confidence to improve day by day in my classes and understand the needs of the students, through empathy.
My carrer as a Spanish teacher is extensive too since Spanish is my mother tongue and I am competent to teach you the best Spanish: make you improve your grammatical skills and get a better accent will be my priority.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better cellist or Spanish speaker! ;)
