Getting set up with fundamentals of drawing a good sound with a bow is important for any string player, and I would be happy to help you with technique and sight reading for your school orchestra program!

About Mathew
Currently residing in Homewood, IL to play downtown with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, I am looking to continue my passion of teaching in this exciting new city. My wife and I have relocated from Bloomington Indiana, where I was an Associate Instructor for the Jacobs School of Music. I have always enjoyed learning new instruments to get new musical perspectives; I have studied String Bass, Electric Bass, Guitar, Piano, Voice, Drums/Percussion,
and even the Viol de Gamba (Google it!).

Matt is an excellent guitar teacher. I highly recommend him.

Matt has been teaching guitar to my 12 year old son for several months now. My sons' guitar playing has improved greatly since his lessons with Matt. He's playing with a lot more confidence, thanks to Matt's influence.

Matt is always on time and has a wonderful way with people. My son feels very comfortable with him. They collaborate on songs together and it is important to Matt that Jude be engaged in his guitar practice.

We're thrilled with Matt and I highly recommend him as a teacher.
Any aspiring guitar player would be lucky to have Matt as a teacher!

I've had over 20 years experience teaching students of all ages and levels. My main teaching materials are drawn from the Suzuki Method books, but I frequently supplement these materials with other technical studies. I pride myself on a flexible teaching style and will tailor my approach to the individual student. My goal is to create a positive, supportive environment for my students, engaging them in a way that makes learning music (and the cello) fun.

About Jacques
*** Travel Equipment ***
None. Instrument, Stand, Music

*** Specialties ***
I use the Suzuki and Sassmannshaus books as my primary teaching materials for beginning to intermediate students. For advanced students, I will use the standard technical study books (Popper, Piatti, etc). I also supplement technical-oriented material for all levels.

Biography:

Noted for his “expressive warmth, sensitivity and technical ease”, cellist Jacques Lee W. is gaining attention as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician of the highest caliber. I can help beginning students on cello learn the basics.

About Thomas
Thomas J. W. is an active music teacher, composer, adjudicator, and clinician in the greater Philadelphia area. He has over fifteen years experience as a concert band director, marching band director, jazz improvisation instructor, choral director, private instructor, and marching drill writer. His directing career has included small rural band programs, small metro programs, large high-achieving suburban programs, and non-profit youth bands. In addition to his band compositions, he also has over forty unpublished vocal arrangements to his credit, most written for use with collegiate men's a cappella groups. Thomas taught over 600 online and local private music lessons in 2016.

Thomas has a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from The Pennsylvania State University. He holds a teaching certificate in the states of Pennsylvania
and New Jersey and has taught at the secondary level in both states. In addition to both instrumental and choral ensembles at Penn State, Thomas was a student leader in the Penn State Blue Band and a member of the brass section of the Cadets of Bergen County Drum and Bugle Corps in 1993 and 1994. He served as an Associate Director of the Warren Junior Military Band of Youngstown, Ohio from 1995 to 2005. He also served as a visual staff member for the renowned North Penn Marching Knights of Lansdale, PA for one season in 2004.

He is a current adjudicator with Drum Corps International and Cavalcade of Bands. He is a member of MENC, PMEA, NJMEA, ASCAP, CASA, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and the National Band Association. He appeared in the Marquis Who's Who Among American Educators in 2004 and 2005, an honor rarely bestowed upon teachers, as students who appear in the Who's Who Among American High School Students must nominate them. He currently is a music teacher at the Center for Performing and Fine Arts of the PA Leadership Charter School in West Chester, PA and resides in Downingtown, PA with his wife and two sons.

Thomas will happily work with students on the autism spectrum or students with ADD.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are tailored to the needs and interests of each student. If a student is involved in school music ensembles, we will work with their lesson books from school in addition to material outside of the books, including SmartMusic, Noteflight, and teacher-created materials. We will focus on building proper tone production and individual technique - something that often is difficult to learn in a large ensemble setting.

I am capable of starting a beginner student on any band instrument including percussion, any classical string instrument (violin, viola, cello, string bass), and piano. I can begin a student on drum set and work with them through their first method book, but I would then recommend they find a specialized drum set teacher after a period of six to twelve months.

For advanced students, I work from selected conservatory etude books on developing advanced skills and can work with students on audition pieces for honors bands/orchestras or college auditions.

My lessons are a half-hour once a week, with the option of working for 45 minutes or 60 minutes.

*** Specialties ***
music, band, orchestra, flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, violin, viola, cello, string bass, piano, Percussion
classical, jazz improvisation

A few minutes to get to know each other than Sue used the books I brought to get started. I explained my previous lessons, where I felt I was at, then Sue took over. She was very relaxed, which relaxed me.
It is important to bring at least one piano book if you had taken lessons in the past.
Again, I did feel very comfortable, it was a nice 1st lesson.

Aaron teaches piano to my 8 year old daughter, Abby. She is shy but loves piano and she very much looks forward to his visits! He customizes her lessons to her skill level and interests. No question he is a serious musician, but he is also laid back and funny which is perfect for young kids as it puts them at ease. Abby is thriving under Aaron's instruction, I'm so glad we found him!

Each student is different, and the teacher needs to approach each one in a special way.

Music is my passion and I like to teach others to communicate though it. In order to make the music the way we feel it, we need technique. Technique is our tool to express, like the words for a writer!
My teaching has it base in technique, but just as a tool, not as something obsessive to be mastered.

Anyone can learn an instrument, and I hope to help you in this journey!

About Elisa

I started playing the cello at the age of 8. I finished the School in San Sebastian and moved to New Haven to study at Yale University. Then I moved to Boston where I finished my Master degree at The Boston Conservatory.

Professor Elisa corrected the bow technique and solved an injury I had for years in the right arm.
Thanks to her I was able to play the concert of Haydn in C as soloist.
After having had the opportunity to be his student I have improved considerably and managed to expand my sonorous concept considerably.
She is very pedagogic and has a great patience to solve the personal problems that I had from a very empathetic and above all corporal.
Today I can say that to be about to leave the race for my injury I am competing prominently at the national level (Chile)

LETS MAKE MUSIC!! By being able to connect and make music relatable, we will work from the ground up to ensure all techniques, terminology and knowledge of the instrument and music will be achieved!

About Tara
LETS MAKE MUSIC!! With viola being my main instrument after falling in love with the music over 15 years ago I have taken a liking to the cello and violin as well. I am a degreed musician that is classically trained. Jazz band, symphony orchestra, quartets, weddings and various studio recordings have helped in creating the musician I am today. Being able to connect and make music relatable to any student is something i take pride in. Some students aren't able to have one on one time with their conductor and I believe that is where the private teacher comes in.

Let's build. Let's grow. Let's make music!
