Here's the why and how:
As an educator, I've had experience teaching both young children and adults in many settings, whether it be in a classroom, small group lesson, or one-on-one. I pride myself on providing lessons that are uniquely individual and foster a students strengths while also building on their weaknesses. The best part about being a music educator is that I get to share my love of music with all of my students. With that said, whether you are a beginner who's interest has been sparked, or you have aspirations of becoming a professional musician I can help you there!

e encouraged to take risks, try new things, make mistakes, and most importantly be themselves.

I value the time I have with my students and expect each student to come prepared to each lesson with an open mind and willingness to work. With music, the best results come to those who put in 100% both during lessons and during individual practice time. This is key in any musical pursuit. Overall, I want lessons to be enjoyable while still maintaining a sense of progress for the student.

Here's a little more about me:
In 2005 I made my operatic debut in Italy with Operafestival di Roma in their main stage production of Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro. While in Rome, I was also featured in Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. Over the years I've been featured as a soloist in other concert and oratorio works such as Villa-Lobos's Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5, Rutter's Requiem, and Mozart's Requiem.

Along with my classical training, I've taken on several roles in musicals such as, The King and I, Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma, and The Boyfriend. I am an honored NATS (National Association for the Teachers of Singing) competitor, Peabody Scholarship recipient, and Bland Music Scholarship recipient. Recently, I had the opportunity to work with the Richmond Philharmonic Orchestra on their spring and summer concert series and was asked to perform the National Anthem and God Bless America at Game 2 of the ALDS during one of the MLB's 2014 postseason games (Baltimore Orioles vs. Detroit Tigers). When I'm not singing, you may find me enjoying a run through the neighborhood, or enjoying some time with my cat CJ.

I earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees form the Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University.

I have had the pleasure of working with Chelsea for the last six years at a summer music camp that is sponsored by my church in Peachtree City Georgia. Chelsea is one of our Artists-in-Residence and leads vocal workshops, coaches vocalists, performs with the praise team, and also performs solo material in her presentations. This past year she served as worship leader where she directed over 100 children (ages 5-11), teen and adult volunteers in vocal worship. Her enthusiasm for music is infectious and she brings a fresh approach to the music that is presented at each encounter. She is able to establish a rapport with students of all ages making them comfortable and engaged in the music.
During our week-long camp, Chelsea and other professional musicians present a beautiful concert for the public where classical works are performed. Chelsea treats the audience to sacred and spiritual works and has developed a devoted following of patrons who return annually to hear her perform.

I have been teaching this subject for over 13 years. There is no specific curriculum as each student will come to lessons with their own unique skills, needs, and goals. Lessons are tailored to those specifics. It is not necessary to know how to read music at the first lesson for beginners. However, learning to read is required for subsequent lessons and will be a large focus for all non-readers. Music is not learned "by ear." A certain amount of theory will be a part of every lesson just as technique and repertoire. Concerning repertoire, it will be selected primarily from the Broadway and West End rep based on the student's learning needs and with their input. The main emphasis on performance lessons, however, will be technique (enunciation, breathing, pitch/intonation, etc.) and reading. Students should come to the first lesson prepared to discuss their background & goals and the plan of their course of study.

About Troy
Composer Troy W. graduated from the New England Conservatory, earning his Bachelors, Masters (cum laude) and Graduate Diploma while studying with mentor Malcolm Peyton. After spending a year studying with Lukas Foss in Boston, Mr. W. moved to Houston in 2001 where he continued graduate studies at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music.

During his time as a teacher with the Michael P. Hammond Preparatory Program at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, Troy taught classes in music fundamentals and music theory for pre-college students. He has also served on the faculty of the Summer Institute for Piano teaching courses in Form & Analysis for pre-college students.

Troy also has maintained a private studio, tutoring and teaching private lessons in composition, ear training, voice, piano, literature, and history for over ten
years. Students who have studied with him come from a wide range of backgrounds with different goals. Those who have continued with musical studies in college have consistently placed out of at least the first two semesters of music theory and achieved advanced placement in their chosen fields of study. Those who chose a different path continue to benefit from the education and training they received from taking music lessons.

*** Lesson Details ***
There is no "standard formula" to lessons. Each student has their own unique background, needs, and goals. Lessons tend to be somewhat casual but are structured in such a way as to meet the unique requirements of the student.

To accomplish your goals, there are a few requirements and basic expectations that the student and parent must meet.
The first is practice. Students are expected to practice daily for at least the length of their lesson time. This, above all else, is essential to progress. It is also expected that a parent will attend lessons for students who are too young to drive themselves here. It's important for a parent to guide the student's practice time (particularly for younger students) to ensure that the most is gained from it. This is why I ask that a parent observe lessons.
Each student or parent should bring to each lesson a notebook, pencils (with erasers). The notebook will be used to record notes about each lesson, homework, practice advice, etc. Pencils (not pens...nobody's perfect!) are used by composers to record their creations and performers to mark their music. Both of these essential practices are subject to changing thought and must be open to change. So no ink, please!

Performers: It is not necessary to know how to read music at the first lesson for beginners. However, learning to read is required for subsequent lessons and will be a large focus for all non-readers. Lessons are not learned "by ear." A certain amount of theory will be a part of every lesson just as technique and repertoire. Concerning repertoire, it will be selected based on the student's learning needs but also with their input. The main emphasis on performance lessons, however, will be technique and reading. Note: Voice students must be at least 16 years of age.

Composers: Just as with performers, it is not necessary to know how to read music at the first lesson. However, learning to read is required for subsequent lessons. Many young composers have great ideas but can only hear them in their heads or play them on an instrument. Lessons will allow you to obtain the skills to write them down with greater speed, accuracy, and clarity. More advance students will also include exploring a wider range of harmonic languages, advanced notation, instrumentation, orchestration, and aural skills. Students should come to the first lesson with examples of their work, either written, notated, or recorded in a digital format. They should be prepared to discuss their background & goals and the plan of their course of study.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
• To reschedule a lesson, more than one day notice is required.

• Make up lessons must be scheduled before the next regular lesson.

• A make up lesson cannot be scheduled in place of a regular lesson.

• If, for any reason, two 30-minute lessons are scheduled one right after the other, they will be charged as two 30-minute lessons, not one 60 minute lesson which is a different rate.

• If, for any reason, two 45-minute lessons are scheduled one right after the other, they will be charged as two 45-minute lessons, not one 90 minute lesson which is a different rate.

Troy is a really patient instructor. I started these lessons as an adult with no prior musical training. I am enjoying the lessons and despite the fact that I never quite have enough time to practice as I should, sometimes even only having the lesson time with him, I still feel I made some progress. I also enjoy the discussions we have on music theory. I am trained as a scientist and when I read theory I have parse it through my own way of thinking about things. I find that Troy is a really good teacher and able to communicate in a manner that is easy to understand. I highly recommend him!

I have been with Troy almost two years and feel I have accomplished more than I ever thought was possible in that amount of tome. Troy has been patient and knows just the right amount of push to give to keep me advancing without stress.
He is tremendously knowledgeable about many aspects of music composition, theory and technique and is fun to be with during every lesson.

I've had a very positive experience with Troy for vocal training. I'm an adult learner with some classical guitar experience, but I've always been terrified of singing. Since starting lessons many months ago, I've noticed steady improvement in my vocal skills and confidence. Our repertoire so far has included popular songs, broadway, and classical. Troy has a deep and broad understanding of music in general, and our lessons have expanded based on my interests to include ear training, music theory, and writing arrangements. Marcelle is a wonderful teacher. She always makes you feel comfortable, listens to your concerns, and gives great tips/ways into establishing a good technique. I had lessons with her over the summer, and in that little time I felt like I'd grown a lot. That fall, I auditioned for a show at my university that made me sing in a style I've never been comfortable with. It was a really strenuous process and nearly all of the singers strained their voices. My voice adapted because I had a great foundation.

Each lesson is tailor-made to suit the student's individual needs. Custom action plan will be given to each student on a case-by-case basis. No instruments are used in my lessons, as I train the voice to be a standalone instrument. However, if you would like to accompany yourself with a guitar, piano or percussion instrument, you are very welcome to do so.

I am available 24 hours a day for online coaching and as early as 6:00 am CST for in-person sessions.

*Please note that 15-minute sessions are ONLY available online. In-person sessions must be a minimum of 30 minutes. 31 and 61-minute sessions are ONLY for whistle register training.

Rachel is professional, approachable, and extremely talented teacher! I definitely recommend her teaching an recording services. I received voice lessons to record for my husband's wedding present. I sang a song called "Still" by Hillsong and accompanied it with my own piano playing. My husband enjoyed the recording very much. Without Reed Vocal Studio, I would not have been able to give the gift of music to my husband. I do not regret having Rachel as my teacher and as my recording engineer. I added my recording on Sound Cloud if anyone is interested in taking a peak at what it is like to record music with Rachel. Let me tell you, she is amazing! Five stars all the way!!

Robin has recently performed the roles of Nemorino in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore, Ferrando in Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, Gherardo in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, Fenton in Verdi's Falstaff, and Nanki Poo in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado. In recital, he has performed Hugo Wolf’s Italienisches Liederbuch and the composizioni da camera of Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini, and Verdi. In addition to his experience in operatic and art song repertoires, Robin has extensive experience in musical theater.

r of Robin's students have attended or participated in the the University of North Texas, the Academy of Vocal Arts (AVA), Luther College, Tisch School of the Arts, Minnesota Opera Clinic, and Minnesota All-State Choir. Dr. R is a very talented vocalist who has a strong background in Alexander Technique. Combining the two makes a very sympathetic and understanding mentor. He can hear all of your tensions, including the ones you aren’t aware of. His style of teaching is a very natural approach and he will not ask you to do anything that hurts or pushes you too far. What stands out the most is his determination. He is determined to help you grow. I am very lucky to have him as an on staff professor.

About Luke
A member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, baritone Luke Otto is versed in the Operatic repertory and classical art song tradition, and performs in and music directs musicals. Originally from the Village of Rosholt, Wisconsin, Luke is also a member of the National Music Teacher’s Association, Wisconsin Music Teacher’s Association and the Chippewa Valley Music Teacher’s Association. Luke teaches classes on performing, pedagogy and auditioning with the Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild and he is a certified Adjudicator with the Wisconsin School Music Association, an organization that has also recognized him as an exemplary artist. He is also an Adjudicator for the NATS auditions in WI, in which he was a finalist in the High School division. ​Luke earned his Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Wiscons
in-Eau Claire, Magna cum Laude in 2014. Luke has travelled with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Concert Choir regionally and internationally to Greece. Luke was also a Wisconsin Ambassador of Music to England, France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Italy and Luxembourg. Luke has performed as soloist with the UWEC Symphonic Choir, and as a member of the Opera Program during his collegiate career. His performance credits include, Gabriel von Eisenstein in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, Second Priest in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, among others. In addition, Luke has premiered works by contemporary composers such as Karl Lepp and Phillip Reilly. Moreover, Luke was a member of the Young Artist Immersion program to New York, New York as a student at UWEC, performing in Master classes with Claudia Catania, David Sytkowski, Mark Moliterno, and performing for students at the Brooklyn School of the Arts. Luke’s conducting credits include, Benjamin Britten’s The Little Sweep and Rossini’s La Cenerentola, along with assistant music directing Into the Woods by Stephen Sondheim and music directing Irving Berlin’s White Christmas. Recently, Luke has performed regularly with the Eau Claire Municipal Band, The Chippewa Valley Jazz Orchestra and with Eauxpera which premiered the summer of 2017. Students are regularly winning local talent competitions, auditioning for shows like The Voice and American Idol and are thriving at the collegiate level.

As a student, I can say that Luke Otto is absolutely amazing. His teaching strategies are awesome, and they have helped me learn so much. I can tell how much my voice has developed for the better since I started lessons. Not only is he an amazing teacher, but he is also an amazing person! I look forward to seeing Mr. Otto every week for lessons because he is kind, funny, and easy to talk and listen to. He has truly made a difference in my life through his amazing vocal training. As an artist, I want to help you discover your true authentic voice. I'm a vocal performance Berklee College of Music graduate, and former top 20 contestant on NBC's The Voice. I believe, as artists we crave real life advice and experience and I want to offer just that. I've been working as a professional session vocalist, songwriter and performing weekly with live bands all over Los Angeles. I believe the voice is a very strong, resilient muscle but must be taken care of with daily practice.

I am a professional singer/song-writer. I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a focus in Vocal Performance. Over the last ten years, I have been performing all over Los Angeles, Boston, Florida and even Hawaii.

In 2013 I was an artist on NBC's "The Voice" making it to the top 20 on Adam Levine's team. Soon after the show, I relocated to Los Angeles where I now work full time in music. I work with some of LA's largest entertainment companies,gigging all over California. I also work in Artist development, session work and songwriting for other artists.
I have a strong foundation in vocal technique. I believe in building (or re-building) a healthy foundation of good technique to avoid developing bad habits that could potentially hurt the voice or hinder growth.

My voice students should expect to grow with each lesson. I believ
e ridding the body of tension so that the voice can be free is key. Through teaching healthy habits and technique I believe any singer can uncover their authentic voice. Aside from technical singing, I'm even more interested in you connecting to the song and telling the story in a meaningful, powerful way.

I have a wide variety of genres that I work with. I have a particular passion for soul/r&b and pop but I grew up singing everything from country to jazz. I believe that I can help any singer establish good technique, no matter the style.
