My daughter was burnt out with her old piano teacher playing the same old songs over and over. Andrew has reinvigorated her love of playing again. He inspires her to play outside the box and getting her to practice is no longer a fight.

I am a worship pastor and having been singing and playing guitar for 15 years. I had never had any formal training before this. I wanted to learn some proper technique in order to protect my vocal instrument for my lifetime. I also wanted to work on some technical aspects of my singing and improve my skill and vocal control. Andrew has been a great instructor. I have learned a lot from him and I really enjoy our lessons.

I wasn't sure I could find a piano instructor that would help me with my busy schedule, but never hurts to ask. I am so glad that I did, because Andrew is amazing! He helped me with my schedule issues and has really inspired my 7 year old boy to really perform his best! Matthew has been been taking lessons for over a year now. He can't wait to see Andrew each week! Matthew has so much fun learning, that his little brother, Alex gets in on the action too. This has been the best experience for me and my two boys, learning how to play the piano! He brings the excitement and joy of learning!

About David
Whatever music you want to sing—any style, any time period—I promise I will teach you to sing it in your very best voice.

My name is David and I look forward to the opportunity to teach you how to sing your best, whatever style it is you want to learn. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music at Oregon State University, where I learned how to sing classical music well. In addition to that, I have years of experience in rock-and-roll bands, and have learned how to apply the lessons I learned from my classical voice teachers to my career as a (very) minor rock star. That's exactly what I want to help you with: whatever you want to sing, from any period in music history, I know how to teach you to sing with your best voice. Singing is one of the things that makes us all human and I relish the opportunity to help students of all ages a
nd skill levels sing a little bit better each week.

I began singing in high school choir, and quickly added piano and guitar to my repertoire of skills. By the time I began college, it was clear that a life of teaching music was in store for me. While studying music education and vocal performance at Oregon State University, I sang in the OSU Chamber Choir, which toured Arizona in 2005, eastern Europe in 2006, and San Francisco in 2007. After graduation, I worked for two years as a church music director and software tester before making the next move, to St. Louis. I earned a Master of Divinity degree at Covenant Theological Seminary in May 2014, and I plan to be a pastor, musician, and music teacher when all is said and done. While living in St. Louis, I sang and played keyboards at Memorial Presbyterian Church, and currently play piano at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Corvallis. In my free time, I enjoy the finest coffees, reading fiction, and watching soccer.

*** Lesson Details ***
When you're taking lessons with me, expect to work hard but to enjoy yourself. These lessons aren't meant to be fun in the way seeing a movie or playing video games are fun. They're fun because it's rewarding to work hard at discovering and doing something you love. I work hard to be encouraging and give all of the honest compliments that I possibly can.

But when there are areas you need to improve, I will certainly mention it and help you understand how to make those improvements. After a few months of lessons, you can expect dramatic improvements in your breath control, the energy of your tone, and achieving a beautiful, balanced resonance with your voice.

A typical lesson begins with warm ups. This consists of seven or eight minutes of easy vocal exercises that are meant to warm up the muscles in your voice and get your mind prepared to sing and learn. It will also give me a chance to hear how you're doing when you come in for your lesson.

Next, we spend a few minutes reviewing exercises and ideas from the previous week's voice lesson. This gives us a chance to check in on your progress and make sure that you're using your practice time well.

After the review, we'll work on some musical selections. I'll assign some of your music to you, and you'll choose some of your own music to sing. The best use of our time is to sing and work on polishing the songs you want to perform. As we work on a piece of music, I'll take note of places you're using good technique and areas that you need to improve in.

Finally, we'll work on vocal exercises to help you improve in those areas. These include passages of music that help you understand what it feels like when you're singing well. These exercises induce some positive aspects of singing in your voice, which helps you understand how to sing better when you're singing other passages of music. After warm-ups, we spend about half the remaining lesson time on exercises.

About Michelle
Instilling and nurturing a love of music and developing musicianship are why I’m a voice teacher. I earned my Master of Music Education degree in 2012 from Boston University, which has furthered my love of teaching and given me even more resources to draw from.

With all my students, I emphasize good technique. No matter what genre of music or age of student, singing in a healthful and fun way includes great posture, breath management, and producing a free and easy sound. I believe that each student has their own unique way of learning, so I tailor my lessons to fit. Students are both encouraged to sing music they're familiar with and to try something new. Immediate feedback and specific practice instructions help my students gain a sense of confidence and assess their progress. Last but not least, singing should be fun!

I'm a member
of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, The Voice Workshop, and the Loudoun Fairfax Music Fellowship.

I worked with Michelle for a little over 2 years. As an adult student, I was super nervous about singing in front of anyone - it took me this long to just sign up for lessons! She was patient with me and gave me lots of tools for dealing with my nerves and stage fright. Michelle helped me to choose songs that I not only wanted to sing but that matched my voice and range. I was hesitant about performing in a recital but Michelle pointed out that it was like training for a marathon - doing all the work but not performing just seemed silly. It wasn't perfect but it was definitely something I'm proud to have crossed off my bucket list.

Want to sing that aria or art song, but just can't get that note to sound like the pro? Do you have an audition or performance coming up for a competition, scholarship, school, etc? I specialize in helping you find your voice and gain access to parts of your voice you may not even know you have yet. Come here to learn how to make the difference between all of the different qualities your voice is capable of. Let me help you find and improve your voice!

About Kimberly
I grew up in a household of 9 where music was always center stage. We would sing as a family in different venues and were often called the VonTrapp family. I have enjoyed singing and performing from a young age. I began studying flute at age 8, after scoring highest in the harmony listening exam and began formal violin lessons at the age of 9. I studied all genres including, fiddle, classical, musical theater and 20th century. I have continued to study violin since then and have performed in many orchestras and small groups, such as Honor Orchestra, the Paradise Symphony, the Yuba College Orchestra, Yuba-Sutter Oratorio Society Orchestra and more. I have been concert master and first stand in many of these. I have also soloed in many and have been the first violinist in quartets for countless weddings and other events. I have also played
in numerous pit orchestras for musicals.
I have been in choirs and soloing since I can remember. I have performed and soloed in choirs such as the Yuba-Sutter Oratorio Society, CSUS Chamber Choir, the CSUS Women's Choir and more. I have toured to Victoria, Montreal, Ottowa, Oregon and Washington. I have also been in opera productions such as The Magic Flute, Peleas and Melisande and Die Fledermaus (The Bat) with CSUS Opera. I am a recent recipient of the Saturday Club Scholarship, a prestigious award, and have won many competitions (some repeatedly) both vocally and with violin, such as the Tri-County Competition, Young Artist Competitions, and the California Soloist and Ensemble Competitions. Additionally, I have performed musical theater repertoire and have performed as lead in musicals such as Beauty and the Beast and Into the Woods. I have also soloed repeatedly with the Yuba College jazz band and at churches all around.
I have earned my Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from CSU Sacramento. I have my Associates Degrees in both Music and Early Childhood Education from Yuba College. Additionally, I have obtained my certificate of completion of training from Music Together, an organization which trains teachers to teach Basic Music Competence (both in tonality and meter), and am currently teaching this curriculum.
I have been teaching music privately for over ten years to all ages, genders and abilities. Additionally, I have taught ages 0-5 years in a preschool setting for 7 years and am extremely familiar with developmentally appropriate practices for both preschool and school age, as I am a site supervisor at a child development center with a preschool and after school program. I have had many adult students as well and encourage adults to enrich their lives with music at any age! Additionally, I have experience teaching parent child classes and am familiar with how to teach to the particular needs of each family and student.
I'm extremely excited and looking forward to growing as a professional, both teaching and performing, in both the areas of violin and voice and to be instrumental in your musical growth too; I can't wait to share my passion with you and to ignite your passion for music too!

*** Lesson Details ***
I have been teaching since 2002 and have loved every minute of it! I teach all ages. I tailor my style of teaching to each student's goals and to what works for you. If you want to learn Taylor Swift music, I won't be giving you arias. On the other hand, if you wish to study classically, I have repertoire appropriate for you. I teach fiddle, classical, orchestral, 20th century and more for violin students and have experience with jazz, classical, musical theater, pop, religious, spiritual, choral, 20th century and more vocally.
For violin students, I use the Suzuki method as a pushing off point, a tried and true method used in many countries across the world, though I have other repertoire including fiddle, orchestra, small ensemble, solo, concertos, Christmas, and more. For vocalist, I start with the book, Adventures in Singing. I also have warm ups and exercises to keep you vocally healthy. I will teach you anything you want to learn! I also teach how to read music, theory and harmony, depending on your interest and tailored to your current skill level.
I am encouraging and knowledgeable. I will meet you at your current level, be that beginner, intermediate, or advanced. My students can look forward to being encouraged and growing through their time with me. I don't have preset ideas about where you should be in 3-6 months, nor do I have a one size fits all teaching style. Instead, I will work with you individually so that you will become the best musician you can be, meet your goals, and increase your enjoyment and appreciation for music.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in open space, upright piano, digital piano, music stands, metronome, violins available for rent, music, staff paper and computer

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect my students to provide the instrument with all of it's accessories (ie shoulder rest, rosin, bow and case) along with the appropriate level Suzuki book. I have instruments available for rent. My voice students should bring their own music also. I have a piano in my studio along with music stands. Of course, every student must have a pencil and come ready to have fun learning! :)

*** Specialties ***
Suzuki, solfege, art songs and arias, reading music, fiddle, classical, healthy vocal technique and musical theater. I am very good at working with any age.

Kim can teach you or your child, no matter where you are!

I was 30 when I decided to rekindle my love for the violin. I hadn’t played since before YouTube was invented, and I was skeptical about learning violin online. By the first lesson, Kim had already corrected poor habits I didn’t know I had, just after hearing me play a few scales. She adjusted her teaching style to my personality so seamlessly that I felt I was just getting pointers from a dear violinist friend whose advice is always spot-on. Weekly practice never felt like work, because Kim tailored my assignments to my goals. Before I knew it, I was playing complex concertos I could never do in high school. I started out being able to play just one major scale. Within 10 months, I was in Suzuki Book 4!
I can’t say enough about Kim’s expert teaching skills. During a sight-reading of a very difficult piece, I became so frustrated that I wanted to stop the lesson and try again later. Kim encouraged me until I had gotten all the way through, and pointed out what I could learn from my performance. When I had time to calm down, I realized that Kim can do this for any student; adults, children, and adults whose inner child throws a tantrum when they’re frustrated by a musical challenge. :-)

Teachers like Kim are rare, and worth their weight in gold. I learned so much more than violin fundamentals through my lessons with her. I’m convinced Kim can teach anyone, of any age—even through an online platform.

Drawing from his experience as an opera singer in venues throughout out the US, including the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and Carnegie Hall, I address proper posture, vowel placement, pronunciation and interpretation.

About Steven
Since 1998, I have taught students of all ages in multiple genres. Many of my alumni have gone on to become voice and music theatre majors at some of the most prestigious programs in the USA, as well as becoming professional performing and recording artists all around the world, so I have gone online so that I can reach out to my students anywhere on Earth!

Online lessons allow us to work together without having to waste time traveling to my studio, not to mention wasting money on transit, tolls, gas or parking. Additionally, it has allowed me to offer my lessons for considerably less than I did "in-person." In addition to singing lessons, I've also worked with online students on monologues, on-camera instructional videos and voiceovers.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

My daughter has expressed a love for music and singing from a very early age. As a parent, I thought she had a beautiful voice and that was confirmed by a good friend of mine who recommended me to Steven. I started Olivia with Steven when she was 9 years old. Through his instruction and guidance her voice has grown tremendously. She was awarded a major role as a 5th grader in her school play and then went on to be the lead as a 6th and 7th grader. She was the youngest student in the history of the school to earn a lead role.

Olivia also auditioned for the Paper Mill Playhouse Summer Conservatory and was accepted for their August Intensive program. I have no doubt that it was Steven's teaching that helped her with her audition that gained her acceptance.

Olivia is now 12 and as a young person, needs to learn how to interpret a song so that she can perform it well. Steven takes the time to teach the MEANING of the words and explains the story that is trying to be told. This was very important for Olivia to learn.

I highly recommend working with Steven. He is a fabulous teacher with a lot of knowledge and insight.

I'm a graduate of the Houston Grand Opera Studio and have been singing professionally around the world for 10 years now.
Singing is a very special, personal experience. It takes time and patience to discover your own instrument and feel confident with it.
I want to help amateur and profesional artists in Houston to learn about their voice and the art of telling stories with songs.
We will work on technique, breathing, interpretation, languages, acting, and anything you want to work on in particular, always in a relaxed, possitive and productive space.

About Federico
Argentinian bass-baritone Federico, who “sings with a deep-voiced authority” (Opera News) is a graduate of the prestigious Houston Grand Opera Studio, was previously a member of the Opera Studio of Teatro Argentino de La Plata, and a student at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid.

This season, amongst other engagements, he will perform the role of Achilla in Julius Caesar with Houston Grand Opera. He will also perform the title role in Le Nozze di Figaro with Palm Beach Opera and make his debut with the Philladelphia Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

stro Robert Spano, Timur in Turandot with the Des Moines Metro Opera and Mr. Flint in Billy Budd with the same company, both conducted by Maestro David Neely.

In previous seasons, Federico performed the role of Thomas Betterton in the world premiere of Carlisle Floyd’s Prince of Players conducted by Patrick Summers, Angelotti in Tosca, Zaretsky in Eugene Onegin, the King in The Little Prince, the cover of the title role and Antonio in The Marriage of Figaro, and selected scenes as Tiridate in Radamisto and Figaro, all at Houston Grand Opera. Born in Buenos Aires, Federico received 3rd prize in the Eleanor McCollum Competition at the Houston Grand Opera, and was named “Outstanding Student” by Her Majesty Queen Sofía of Spain.

What makes my lessons unique? I use vocal technique based on Yoga exercises to help open the voice, increase power, stamina, strength resonance and beauty. I learned this amazing technique from my long teacher, mentor and Metropolitan Operatic Tenor, Anastasio Vrenios.

I use creative mindfulness in my lessons to help students relax, gain confidence in the unique beauty of their voice and their persona, so their vocal delivery as well as presentation and theatrical delivery are sincere, from the heart and very powerful.

Elizabeth is very knowledgeable about how to build the voice but also how to build a music brand, advertise and get people to show to performance. I have been teaching for 10 years. I don’t just teach the technique of singing. I build a personal relationship with each student and help them not only to achieve their goals but also to help them grow in their confidence in their abilities. I am so excited to work with you!

About Sydney
Sydney Rose C. began studying musical theatre at age 8, and operatic music at age 10. At 14, Sydney began taking private voice lessons under Allison Amidon, a USC Professor of music. She has participated in opera concerts with a live orchestra including performing The Flower Duet, one of the most difficult Aria’s to perform on a technical vocal level, at the age of 13. Her many credits include but are not limited to: Maria in West Side Story, Maria in The Sound of Music, Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, Christine in Phantom of the Opera, Marian in The Music Man, Cinderella in Into the Woods and many more.

Her passion for the performing arts collided with her love for students in 2010 when Sydney began choreographing and giving vocal lessons. She thrives off igniting the musical spark within children to help them build confidence and find
their voices. Through music as a vessel, she teaches them discipline and hard work that they will carry with them throughout the rest of their lives. Sydney firmly believes that music can empower young people and equip them with the life skills they need to be successful.

I knew that she would help me go a long way even after our first vocal lesson. She is special because she doesn’t just teach because she has to wants to help you grow and it’s clear that she cares. That is why I’m still with her today.
