David enjoys teaching students from all different backgrounds and levels of proficiency. Whether you are just starting out or a virtuoso shredder in the making, he is happy to teach you! Over all, he is fairly laid back, as long as you practice. He usually combines work with reading off of the treble clef (what he likens to "eating your vegetables." You may not want to do it, but it will make you a healthier musician!) with learning more popular songs (or songs the student says they would like to learn) through tablature and chord charts, depending on the style of the song.

David is also very pro music theory. He usually incorporates music theory into the curriculum in conjunction with the material already being discussed. He is also very knowledgeable about composition/songwriting, and if the student is interested in learning more about this area, he is happy to share what he knows!

About David

David is a successful singer/songwriter/guitarist out of Fairfax, VA. He has a bachelor's degree in Music with a concentration in composition from Salisbury University, where he also studied jazz and classical guitar . In the 25 years he has been performing (20 of those professionally) and playing

My classes are very flexible when it comes to what the student wants. On the first class, I give the student the choice of controlling our lessons materials about what they want to learn. Or the student can choose to let me control our classes, in which I will bring my own materials and ideas in which we should work and will go through the whole academic process of learning music.

He was one of my mentors during the beginning of my guitar journey. Always passionate about everything he taught me from theory to chords to simple riffs and singing. Very patient and was always willing to help me towards becoming the guitar player I am today. I would not be who I am today without him guiding me to be a great guitar player. Thank you.

"I observed my 6yr old daughter's first guitar lesson with Rina. She is patient while providing proper technique, posture, reading music and teaching new notes (remember, this is a 6yr old!). My daughter left the lesson with an ear to ear smile and immediately told me how nice Rina is and how she loved it. I am very pleased with our experience so far and my daughter and I are both excited to continue.

As far as logistics, Rina is quick to respond via phone and email. Although she is in Westfield, her location has plenty on-street parking."
