My focus as a teacher is to coach my students to their best performance. As they play, I encourage them to listen to their sound and then use what they hear to shape their growth. I then add to their thoughts, pointing out the positive aspects of their performance and giving them directions for how to improve.
About Joshua
I have been passionate about classical music my entire life. In college, I played in the university orchestra, formed a string quartet, and produced a daily radio show about music. Since I love music history and theory, I actually have two Master’s degrees, one in cello and the other in musicology.

About Isaiah
I knew from the time I was very young that I had to be a musician. It still amazes me how young children often are when they know that music is what they want do with their lives. Teaching the cello is so exciting for me because whether or not someone chooses to be a professional musician, I know t

My approach to teaching the cello incorporates mindfulness, body awareness, and deliberate practice, and I strongly believe in simplifying technique and practice methods, and leading you to your own discoveries rather than just telling you what to do. In order to reach your potential as a cellist, you need to train both the body and the mind. I am a strong believer in mental practice and being able to hear the sound you want before you play - however, this is only half the battle; you also want to set yourself up for success by training your body to feel comfortable and relaxed while still maintaining structure. I have studied with the top cello pedagogues in the world, including Hans Jensen, Richard Aaron, Ralph Kirshbaum, Desmond Hoebig, and Frans Helmerson to name a few. The methods I’ve learned and developed on my own can be taught from the very beginning of a cellist’s journey, and I can’t wait to share them with you!
About Lukas
I am a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician and have performed all over the US and Europe. I am a recent graduate of the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, and am currently pursuing my masters degree at the University of Southern California. My principal teachers have been Ralph Kirs

Lukas has a clever sense of humor, is very bright, and void of arrogance (which I experienced so many times from teachers when I started out). I am certain he would provide a student of any level and goal with an adaptive, forward-focused approach. I cannot thank Lukas enough for the amount he has helped me, and I am certain he can do the same for so many others

As a cellist with 18 years of playing experience and 5+ years of teaching I have learned that music can change your life at any age and even can help you heal from whatever struggles life throws at you. Music and learning an instrument can improve your brain functions in a way that no other activity can accomplish. I am so passionate about teaching and customize my teaching style to each student individually because the same approach does not work for everyone. I strongly believe in that and try to get to know my students, who they are, what their strengths and weaknesses are and how I can help to overcome those. I get very involved with my students and build a personal relationship with each one of them to further help them with cello. I've had some wonderful instructors myself including Amir Eldan and Hans Jensen who taught me not only how to play the instrument itself but also how to use those skills that come with being a musician in life.
In my lessons I focus on ...

The cello isn't a particularly easy instrument to learn, but I will say that it is SO worth it. It takes work, but what doesn't? Cello is my passion, and I hope I can help it become yours.
About Leah
I have been learning music since I was 6 years old. It was a requirement in our house, but, nonetheless, growing up in a house of musician siblings had me excited to get started. With 13 siblings, you can imagine that our house was always full of some kind of music. Having grown up in that world

Pursuing a career in music is a risky decision, because by the nature of the industry few artists can “make it big.” Most artists aren’t pop stars, or even full-time career musicians, and all musicians also teach to remedy this. There are many paths to becoming a professional cello player, and depending on where you start it might be easy or hard to earn a reputation and start making money. I followed an academic path, studying classical music at university and then continuing my research …
