I like to focus on correct playing position, reading the clefs associated with cello, scales, etudes, solo pieces, shifting, and vibrato.I've taught a wide range of students. From beginner to intermediate to advanced. I've taught students as young as 4 to students in their 60's.

About DeAndre
I am looking for students who want to work hard at learning an instrument or anyone that would like to learn to read music. I specialize in classical and religious music. I have been playing in the Huntsville/ Decatur area for years.

For the last year I have been taking piano, viola and violin lessons online with DeAndre. He is a natural, insightful teacher and I look forward to years of lessons with him. I would absolutely recommend him.

I'm a beginner with the violin and viola and an intermediate pianist. I was doubtful at first that I would be able to learn through a video chat. I'm amazed at the detail DeAndre can pick up just by watching a video chat. There have been many times when we just did the lesson over the phone with no video and he was able to tell that my fingering hand was in the wrong position or I was holding the bow wrong just by listening over the phone!

On and off through my life I've taken piano and viola lessons (I'm 46) and was never able to get very far. I found my teachers discouraged me in many ways without trying to. DeAndre has been fantastic. With his instruction I've been able to do things I never thought I would ever be able to do. He's excellent at giving feedback about the things I'm doing wrong but in a way that keeps me positive and makes me aware of the things I'm doing well and the things I need to improve.

DeAndre is absolutely worth the time and money.

I'm an experienced and dedicated cellist, having played with Orchestras and Chamber groups throughout my state. My lessons are focused on relaxation, and am as laid back or strict as the student needs. Whether you're a beginner or advanced, shooting to be a church player or a pro, I have taught students for that and am the teacher for you.

My son just finished his first lesson with Amy. I was so impressed with her demeanor, she was wonderful with my beginning student. Very encouraging and quickly gets down to business asking important questions about his knowledge and understanding. She seems very confident in teaching from a distance. I am impressed with her ability to pick up on subtle ques. My son completed his lesson feeling encouraged, with some tasks to focus on for the week, and excited to learn more. We look forward our lesson number two!

Taking cello lessons from Susan has been a wonderful experience for my child, and it has been lovely for me to associate with her. Susan has passion, warmth, and many years of experience. Initially, it can be a bit overwhelming (especially as a parent with little musical experience) to take in all that Susan will throw at you, but soon you will see the benefits of her broad range of knowledge and the holistic education she offers. She covers the many facets of playing cello, including rhythm, reading music, theory, group practices, careful attention to bow hold, tone production, performance, ensemble playing and listening. She is consistent and reliable. My child looks forward to Susan’s lessons each week and has commented, “Susan always finds something good, then gives me ideas on how to make it better.” She puts a lot of time, resources, and creativity into enriching activities that motivate kids to stay engaged and practice regularly. We highly recommend her!

Never too late to begin learn cello! My lessons focus on both sightreading and aural skills to make a well-rounded musician.

I make sure I am meeting the specific needs of each studedent, help them reach their individual goals, and most importantly make lessons fun.

About Eric
I enjoy sharing my love of music by helping others embark on their musical journeys. I am a strong supporter of using a combination of aural training and sightreading to boost musicality and finesse.

In the past 6 years, I have taught students of all ages, ranging from children to seniors. You are never ever too old to learn the piano or the violin. You may not be the next Chopin, but with practice and dedication, you will eventually be able to play the mass majority of piano/violin repertoire.

Strong fundamentals (scales/chords/arpeggios) are important, but I also remember to make music fun and not boring by providing diverse selections of supplemental (pop/ragtime/blues) pieces.

I provide a fun experience of learning to play and share music. My philosophy in working with students is to curb their interests with my vision for their success with technique and musicality. I want my student to not only become good cellist, but also enjoy music on a theoretical and historical level. My overall goal is to make a connection with people that will last and music can be an outlet for growing as a person.

About Carrie
Carrie recently relocated to Ann Arbor Michigan after finishing her masters to start a cello studio and freelance. Since moving she has performed with the Jackson Symphony, South West Symphony Orchestra, and West Symphony Orchestra.
Carrie Miller studied at Florida State University with Greg Sauer for a Masters of Music in cello performance and received a Bachelors of Music in cello performance from the California State University Sacramento where she studied with Professor Andrew Luchansky.

During her 4 years at CSU, Sacramento, she had masterclasses with pianist-composer, Eric Zivian, cellist, Timothy Eddie, and cellist, Steven Doane. In 2015 she performed the Lalo Cello Concerto after being a winner of the CSU Sacramento Concerto Competition.
While attending Florida State University, Carrie performed with the opera, the University Symphony Orchestra, the baroque ensemble, and the viol ensemble. During her masters, she also performed with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, Symphonia Gulf Coast Orchestra, Albany Symphony Orchestra, and Panama City Pops Orchestra. One of the greatest moments in her career was to play with world renowned singer, Renee Fleming.
She has taught cello privately for the past 10 years and continues to do so with her private studio as well as working for The Community Music School of Ann Arbor where she works as a cello teacher, chamber music coach, and operations manager. I believe people should learn cello because it's something they love.
I work with people with all ages and I believe music is just like a language where you get to share your story with your listener.
I believe everyone is different and I teach cello not only through the basic technique but also understand how to learn an instrument like as if they are singing.
I love what I do and I have a lot of patient with all my students. It's my passion seeing people improving doing what they love.

About Henry
I'm a professional cellist and currently working on my doctorate degree at Northwestern University. I believe learning cello should be fun and rewarding and it's something that you love. I've been teaching assistant to professor Hans Jensen here at Northwestern University the past two years and also had served as TA at Meadowmount School of Music before.

I was born in Taiwan, and began my musical studies at the age of 13. Since then, I has received numerous awards and recognitions both locally and nationally including the 1st Prize in the 2017 Arnuero International Chamber Music Competition, 1st prize in the 2013 Eastman School Concerto Competition, 1st Prize in the 2013 American Protege International String and Piano Competition, and 2nd Prize in the 2012 Eastern Connecticut Instrumental Competition.

I participated in numerous music f
estivals such as the Aspen Music Festival, Beijing International Music Festival, Bowdoin International Music Festival, ENCORE School for Strings, GAIA Masterclasses, Heifetz Institute, International Summer Campus at Royal Danish Academy of Music, Isa International Music Festival, Meadowmount School, National Arts Centre Orchestra Young Artists Program, and Sarasota Music Festival.

Cello lessons with me are fun and engaging, with plenty of improvising, multi-style techniques and genres, and more, included with the standard classical cello technique and repertoire. I make sure to give my students a well-rounded education that will give them a real opportunity to become working professional cellists in our new global community.

About Mandy
I started taking cello lessons at the age of 9, where I quickly found that it was my passion. I rose to the top from a young age, and was winning competitions and performing in professional concert series and in tours all over the USA and Europe by the time I was in high school.

I also collaborated and performed with members of Yo Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble in their Global Musician Workshop in its inaugural and second years. At the workshop, I learned songs by ear and improvised in styles of music from all around the world. I worked with cellist Mike Block, folk singer Sarah Jarosz, fiddler Hanneke Cassel, and more. I believe that it is important to give the young students of today the tools needed to operate in our global community, and my experience with the Silk Road Ensmeble helps me pass on these tools to my students.

I received
my B.A. in Music with a focus on Cello Performance at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, where I studied with famed cello soloist Andres Diaz. During my time in Dallas, I professionally taught as well as performed all over the city, in orchestras, ensembles, and solo recitals. I recently received my M.M. in Music Education from Southern Methodist University, where I was a well-respected and revered educator amongst my peers and coworkers.

After graduating, I moved to Asheville, NC to take on the position of Program Director at the Asheville Music School. I am excited to build a studio here in Asheville and share music with all of my students!
