About Eric
I began my partnership with takelessons in 2013 and have since taught over 6,000 **Voice, Singing, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Piano, Music Theory & Songwriting/Composition** lessons through this teaching platform. I teach many of my students in person at my creative and comfortable home teaching studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn but I also am a highly experienced online music instructor (Takelessons Live, Skype, FaceTime and G+)

I have coached well-known musicians/celebrities, been an on-set tutor for feature films, and coached music hobbyists to have more fun! I work with many students in their audition preparation for high school/college/conservatory admission, casting calls for TV/Film, major tour auditions, industry showcases and studio recording sessions.

Every great performer needs a great coach, I will help you become your best!
______________

I'm the vocalist, lead guitarist & songwriter for a well-known touring rock band with a worldwide fan base and nearly 4 million You Tube views. I graduated from New York University with Bachelor's of Music in Jazz guitar and trained with the most highly respected rock/pop vocal coaches in the world. In 2015, I signed a major label publishing deal with Fieldhouse Music/BMG played throughout Europe (and taught online lessons while away). My songs have been licensed for national/international TV (E!, MTV, VH1, Oxygen, TBS and more), commercials for CBS, Nike, Coca-Cola, Samsung and in video games. I actively perform/record and tour with my (3) bands, and produce/co-write with artists for their own projects.

∙ clean/distorted
∙ vibrato
∙ screaming
∙ rhythmic singing
∙ vocal health/maintaining your voice
∙ touring, recording, performing
∙ writing songs/melodies/lyrics to suit your vocal strengths
and personality

Lead / Rhythm Guitar:

I've developed a step-by-step approach to learning to solo and improvise.
Using simple, "guitarist-friendly” techniques you will quickly learn and begin to apply major/minor scales/modes, blues/pentatonic scales and “licks.” You will learn triads, arpeggios, interval studies, and extensions and how to use them to create interesting and melodic solos. With my line development/phrasing techniques, you will have your own library of “licks” that will help you navigate both simple and sophisticated harmonic progressions. I will help you to become a become a well-rounded, three-dimensional guitarist with a unique voice!

A few of techniques I teach:

∙ triads / arpeggios
∙ strumming
∙ alternate/sweep picking
∙ tremolo picking
∙ hybrid picking
∙ scales/modes
∙ slide guitar
∙ hammer on/pull off
∙ (up to 8 finger) tapping
∙ bending / double stops / unison bends
∙ whammy bar techniques
∙ diagonal scales,
∙ arpeggios & note groupings
∙ 3 and 4 finger per string scales
∙ fingerstyle
∙ Jazz scales, chords including
4 note open/closed voicing
7th, 9th, 11th, 13th chords
∙ chord melodies
∙ rhythm and grooves of various styles

Bass Guitar:

Right hand:
∙ finger style, pick
∙ slapping/popping
∙ groove, rhythms and playing time
∙ time signatures, walking bass lines,
∙ arpeggios, double stops,
∙ chords & improvising
∙ writing bass lines.

All of my students learn:

Sight reading (standard notation/tablature)
∙ music theory & ear training
∙ rhythm / timing (including reading rhythms)
∙ composition/songwriting

We will focus 1/2 of the lesson on repertoire and 1/2 the lesson on technique. Many of my students text/email me a few days prior to our scheduled lesson with a song selection for the week. I focus our lesson's technical study with the song in mind. It has proven to be very effective and makes the technique and theory are less "boring."

Studio Equipment
I have (7) guitars: including (4) electric, (2) acoustic/electric, & (3) electric bass
(2) tube guitar amplifiers, and various guitar effects pedals.

(1) full-size 88-key MIDI keyboard, and (1) Arturia MINILAB MIDI controller.

Also, I have an assortment of industry standard dynamic & condenser microphones for live performance and recording applications.

DAW recording software (Pro Tools 12.x, Logic 10.x, Ableton Live)
software synthesizers by Arturia, Fabfilter, Native Instruments, Spectrasonics, Steven Slate, Toontrack and more. I use plugin effects by Izotope, Fabfilter, Plugin Alliance and Universal Audio and Waves for many of my lessons and recording projects.

Travel Equipment
I can provide a guitar, videos, music recording, music workbooks and everything else a student may need. Students are only expected to bring a desire to learn. :)

Specialties

I am a performer with a ton of touring/stage experience, a composer who understands the art of writing and a producer who is fluent in the latest recording technology. In addition to technical studies, my students receive performance coaching/career development. I will help you to find your unique voice, a polished and distinct sound, and your true personality as an artist. I am 100% committed to making you a success!

I will ignite a new, or recharge/rekindle your passion for music, and to sing/play the music you love a lot better!

As a player and teacher I specialize in rock, free improvisation, and classical but am also highly proficient in jazz, blues, funk, folk and more. I develop each curriculum based on the student's musical interests. We closely study the technique and theory behind songs and artists of the student's choosing. I encourage interdisciplinary courses of study that touch on many different subjects, including music theory and composition/songwriting, but ultimately the student's goals and interests guide my lessons.

About Dylan
I have a BA in Music from NYU and have been teaching private guitar lessons for 10 years. In 2009 I created the visionary metal band PYRRHON. We've released three full-length albums, all of which have received critical acclaim from noteworthy publications. I am an expert guitarist, composer, arranger and teacher. In my lessons I am able to cover many topics, including rock, metal, jazz, classical, improvisation, transcription, composition, general dexterity and more. My lessons are interdisciplinary, designed to improve musical comprehension, creative wherewithal, and confidence. Let's build something together.

My band PYRRHON is my primary creative outlet. Our recently released third album, What Passes For Survival, received laudatory reviews, landing on Best of 2017 lists for Rolling Stone, Decibel, Quietus and several other notable
publications. We have extensive international touring experience and have worked with several renowned metal labels, including Willowtip and Relapse Records.

Outside of PYRRHON, I record and perform solo guitar pieces under my name, improvise avidly, and study classical guitar. I also have 2 in-the-works musical projects that span the breadth of my musical vocabulary. Initial recordings for both projects will surface by late 2018.

I have taught guitar since 2012 and have been playing since 2000. I am happy to take students at the beginner and intermediate levels. I believe that music should never feel like a chore and that music learning should be curiosity-driven, active, enjoyable, and emphasize self-expression. Learn good habits from the beginning and build techniques from a solid foundation to adapt to any musical style you'd like!

About Diana
Diana is a classical guitarist and pianist originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico. In addition to guitar and piano, she teaches voice, ukulele and songwriting in New York City, where she now resides. She spent the better part of a decade studying closely with two mentors: celebrated classical guitarist Lynn McGrath, and revered pianist Stephen Montoya. As a high school student, Diana regularly performed in recitals and participated in competitions and festivals across the U.S., including the Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) and The Parkening Guitar Competition, where she received masterclass instruction from distinguished guitarists like David Russell, Ana Vidovic and Christopher Parkening. She went on to study classical guitar at the North Carolina School for the Arts as the youngest student admitted in her focus at the age of 17, and la
ter completed her studies in music performance, composition, and foreign language at the University of New Mexico. In addition to her classical studies, Diana sang in a variety of traveling choral groups throughout high school and took small roles in the Broadway musicals ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ and ‘Rent’.

In the course of her studies, Diana was honored with awards of excellence from the National Honors Society of Guitar and recognized for her performances with the critically acclaimed woman’s guitar ensemble, ‘Presti Quartet.’ She was selected two years in a row to perform 1st chair in the New Mexico ALLSTATE Guitar Orchestra - the first-ever young woman to earn that position. The following year she was chosen as one of twelve guitarists to represent music in education in the United States.

In the time since her studies, Diana has called many places home. She lived in New Orleans for several years and in that time her music interests broadened to embrace traditional American forms, such as jazz and the blues. During that time she ran a private music practice, teaching children and young adults to become proficient with music. She continued her travels, her studies and her teachings during the summer of 2017 in Spain. She has been living, studying and teaching in New York City since the fall of 2017, always carrying with her the belief that music should never feel like a chore and that learning music should be curiosity-driven, active, enjoyable, and emphasize self-expression. Diana believes in building a strong foundation of musical knowledge with her students by providing the tools to create good habits from the beginning and encouraging effective, deliberate practice. It is her mission to inspire aspiring musicians as a music educator and bring a life-long love of music to her students.

I'm a self taught female guitarist, musician and singer-songwriter. A guitar lesson with me can include learning basic chords, cover songs and how to write a song. I love helping others who are passionate about music and want to learn the guitar. I especially love helping young women learn the craft because we need more female guitarists.

About Jackie
I was born and raised in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and started playing guitar at the age of 12. I tried to take lessons, but ended up deciding to teach myself to play. I moved to Wyoming in 2012 where I attended The University of Wyoming for English and Spanish. Fun fact, I'm bilingual :) While in college I became more and more serious about being a professional musician. I started writing more songs, recording an EP and playing shows all around the college town of Laramie. After graduating with my Bachelor's degree in 2016, I moved to Brooklyn to pursue my dream of becoming a career musician. I currently play rhythm guitar, ukulele and sing in Jimmy and THE BAND. Our next show is at Arlene's Grocery on Sept. 12th. I'm excited to start teaching others about something I'm super passionate about.

Energetic, supportive & fun... my students will grow as players, musicians and songwriters. Learn new songs, skills, and/or how to play in a band. Together, we will advance you towards your goals.

"You are a great teacher and have helped me to grow in my skills as a musician and a person...I aspire to be a musician just like you.." HP, high school student in Elizabeth's guitar club

For my bio, please go to my music website: elizabethrosemusic.com.

About Elizabeth
I love to teach. I have a few openings for students for whom I'm the right teacher. I say "yes" to your dreams of making music, acknowledge your passion and give you tools to improve your skills as a guitarist, songwriter, singer, basic keyboard theory and/or recording. We play in my studio in NYC or online.

"You are a great teacher and have helped me to grow in my skills as a musician and a person...I aspire to be a musician just like you.." HP, high school student in Elizabeth's guitar club

I wrote and performed "Relative Pitch," a one-woman musical comedy at NY's Cherry Lane Theatre, Off Broadway, toured with the Broadway cast of "Beatlemania." My songs have been heard on tv and in film. I've just composed a musical and am working on a ballet(!).

Album Notes
Elizabeth Rose "Sleep Naked" -
Liner Notes
by Jon Chappell, author, "Rock Guitar for Dummies"

Whether she's enticing you with come-hither invitations or giving a deadbeat beau the boot, Elizabeth Rose shows her depth and versatility as a wicked-smart contemporary singer/songwriter in Sleep Naked.

Elizabeth is a facile cross-genre writer, delivering an alluring, gospel-tinged lullaby in the album's title track, "Sleep Naked," while exhibiting her pluck in the strutting and self-assured send-off songs "I'm Too Beau'ful (for you)" and "One Last Look." Her talents even cover Western Swing with "Back Seat Driver," a good-time road trip replete with rapid-fire wordplay. Through it all, Elizabeth puts forth compelling turns of phrase and agile moments of melody, both as composer and singer.

Even when she's meting out stinging barbs, Elizabeth keeps her good humor, as evidenced by "Enlightenment" (with its erudite imputations) and "Oil" (an indictment of the fossil-fuel industry). But she turns on an emotional dime to render a heartfelt plea in the sultry, loping "Baby Please Come On Home" and serves up a haunting, evocative reverie in "Ferris Wheel."

As if singing, writing, and leading the band weren't enough, Elizabeth lays down some serious guitarwork on Sleep Naked. On acoustic, she is equally deft comping jazz-chord passages ("Enlightenment") as she is fingerpicking Piedmont-style blues ("Leave Me Alone"). When she dons an electric, Elizabeth coaxes slinky, lyrical lines from her Tele for "Sleep Naked" and punctuates the simple acoustic-bass texture of "Baby Please Come On Home" with tasty slide fills.
