I am a passionate, energetic, humorous, patient cello instructor. I have been teaching since 2008. Within these years, I taught the private lesson, group lesson, music theory and studio class of all ages and all levels. One of my ten years old student got the highest score of the Asian-Pacific Region in Grade two cello exam of The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music only after one year learning from me. I have abundant experiences for helping students not only learning music and cello but also enjoying lots of fun from it. I also helped my students for preparing their solo recitals, summer festival auditions, competitions, and performing arts high school auditions. I am sure you will fully in love with the sound you make after learning from me. Let me help you to accomplish your aspirations.

While I certainly place emphasis on technical work and mastery, I also want all students to feel comfortable in expressing their individual voice and interests. I believe that it is incredibly important to encourage students to explore a number of creative avenues within music. Therefore, I am very open to having students explore music outside the classical canon in addition to experimenting with improvisation and composition. An additional component of my teaching style is finding unique and interesting ways to keep students motivated and teaching them how to effectively practice and learn on their own.
About Helen
My teaching philosophy is largely centered around the importance of individuality. The “one size fits all” approach is hardly ever adequate--every student has different needs, strengths, and challenges. While I certainly place emphasis on technical work and mastery, I also want all students to feel

I am a fourth year cello performance major at the University of Georgia and have been playing the cello for over eleven years. I have experience performing and practicing in a variety of ensembles and genres (i.e. orchestras, chamber ensembles, jazz, rock/jam bands, bluegrass, pop). I plan to incorporate music theory and ear training into lessons to help my students become more familiar with their instruments and repertoire. I want to encourage innovation and creativity in each of my students so that they can feel comfortable approaching any musical opportunity.

Jordi is an outstanding teacher. He is patient and understanding at the same time. I never feel rushed or unprepared when we meet. Jordi has a relaxed, yet professional way of teaching. I have grown to love my cello more because Jordi helps you develop an appreciation for your instrument. I cannot say enough good things about my instructor; I believe he is the best.

I love sharing my passion for music with all of my students - ages 5 through 72.
You can always recognize a skilled cellist. The music sounds smooth and graceful, the tone quality is lovely. Unskilled cellists just don’t sound the same. What’s the difference? Skill of course. The skill to play a very large instrument with relaxed hands and arms by using your core muscles to transfer your body weight through your arms and hands into the cello. Not every cello teacher knows how to teach that.
I believe that my unique combined musical and medical background makes me a better cello teacher. In addition to my graduate and undergraduate musical training and extensive musical experience, My knowledge of human anatomy and mechanics of how the body works can help you develop habits that will lead to the beautiful singing tone that’s makes the cello a favorite.
We will then build on those habits to develop good intonation, a lovely vibrato and a variety of bowing techniques ...

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification. It does require focused, daily practice time and a good teacher to guide you along the way. How far you progress with cello is a direct result of the amount of quality time you put into practicing the instrument. Even someone who puts in just 30 minutes a day will notice a signi …
