I'm an experienced teacher of 12+ years, equally comfortable with kids and life-long learners. I'm very curious and always learning, and I love to share that inquisitive spirit with my students. Lessons will be structured around music that you enjoy, whether that is rock, classical, or jazz. Music theory and technique will be incorporated into the lesson from day one, but never at the expense of making music! I hold a B.M. in jazz performance and a M.M. in classical performance, and have performed all over the world. Let's set up your first lesson!

About Joshua
I have been a full-time performer and teacher for over a decade. I hold a Masters degree in classical performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where I studied with Grammy award-winning guitarist Jason Vieaux, and I hold an undergraduate degree from the University of the Arts in jazz performance. My performance career has taken me across the United States, to Europe, and to Asia. Highlights from the 2016-17 concert season include performances with the Columbus Symphony with soloist Rachel Barton-Pine and CityMusic Cleveland Chamber Orchestra, among others. The 2017-18 concert season includes concerts in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.

As a teacher, I’m equally comfortable with kids and life-long learners. I'm very curious and always learning, and I love to share that inquisitive spirit with my students. Lessons w
ill be structured around music that you enjoy, whether that is rock, classical, or jazz. Music theory and technique will be incorporated into the lesson from day one, but never at the expense of making music. I look forward to meeting you!

I work on the foundations of good playing technique and musical knowledge through a close study of music that interests the student. As a guitarist, I've played and worked with students on Bach sonatas, Dylan/Donovan style fingerpicking, jazz comping and solos, rock, metal and punk riffs, Steve Vai-esque two-hand tapping, as well as songwriting, music theory, and aural skills, so no matter what kind of music you like or how you're looking to improve, chances are I can help take you do it. All levels and ages are welcome.

I am a composer, guitarist, arranger, engraver, and songwriter located in Brooklyn. I have taught extensively for the past ten years in a variety of settings, including teaching private guitar lessons at Saint David's School in Manhattan, teaching private composition lessons and TA'ing two electronic music courses at Yale, as well as teaching guitar and musicianship in public elementary and high schools in San Francisco and New Haven, as well as several private music schools and my own private guitar studio.

As a guitarist, I perform regularly with legendary NYC experimental groups the Glenn Branca Ensemble, Dither Quartet, and Object Collection, and freelance with groups such as the Atlanta Symphony, Ensemble Signal, and Magik*Magik Orchestra. I am an experienced guitar teacher with 10+ years of professional career behind me.

I'm looking for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of good playing habits (learning the right songs that you makes you a better musician!). I specialize in pop, rock and funk. I use some of my own transcriptions and the ones I acquired from Berklee College of Music, and also have the following tools available to use during lessons: sound recording equipment, sheet music, and more.

Let's plug in that guitar and start rocking out :)

About Akos
Hi there and thanks for stopping by.

I'm a bass player and electric guitar player with a history of touring around the world playing rock, funk and jazz styles. I graduated from Berklee College of Music with Bachelor's of Music in Professional Music - Bass Guitar, and am currently teaching and playing music professionally. My students ranging in ability from beginner to professional. I tend to focus on making sure my students learning experience is stress free and fun (most importantly)

Currently, I play in a number of bands in NYC and record with bands in Europe (Serbia - Hungary)

I can teach my students comfortably in my home teaching studio in Crown Heights, Brooklyn or I can travel to students house for extra charge. I work with bass player and guitarist in a vide range of ability, some are beginners and I have some who are
professional as well.

Some of the musical styles I regularly teach: Rock, Blues, Jazz, Funk, Soul, R&B, Classical.

Also online lessons is also available upon request by student.

***Lesson Details***

My students will gain the following from consistent lessons

Bass Guitar:

Techniques -

Slapping, Popping, Playing with Fingers vs Playing with a Pick
Improvisation
Creating interesting bass lines
Learning songs in order to have a good foundation for future development.

I tend to focus on learning songs instead of learning "boring" exercises.
You get more benefit from learning songs and working on a difficult groove or phrase rather than spending a lot of time playing non musical exercises.

***Equipment***

I have 5 Bass Guitars, 1 Electric Guitar, 3 Keyboards (NORD, KRONOS, MIDI CONTROLLER)

I have recording devices which can be used to record the lesson and get it in your email after our meeting, so you can go home and really listen to my comments again and learn more!

Hope to hear from you and start learning some good music!

My classes are very flexible when it comes to what the student wants. On the first class, I give the student the choice of controlling our lessons materials about what they want to learn. Or the student can choose to let me control our classes, in which I will bring my own materials and ideas in which we should work and will go through the whole academic process of learning music.

About Marcelo
Established New York musician. Berklee College of Music Graduate. Have been teaching for many years and know that each student has their own mindset and we need to work around each person`s goals and interests. I teach mainly pop, rock, blues, jazz, classical, funk, RnB. All ages and levels are welcome.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons are very relaxed and we will focus on ways to practice and getting the student to learn what he/she wants. Some people just want to come and learn a few tunes, some want to really learn the instrument and practice all the time. It all depends on the individual and I`m more than ready to adapt for each one of my students with the methods I have.
On our first class we will spend some time discussing what are the goals of the student and I will formulate a good plan so we can reach those goals in no time
.
I usually have 3 main paths that the student can choose.
1st - Learn the instrument enough so you can play your favorite songs and have fun with friends.
2nd(most requested) - Learn the instrument from scratch. Study technique, repertoire, a little of reading and music theory and learn how to improvise. This will allow the person to have their own tools to study on their own after attending classes with me.
3rd - Usually people who have been playing before like this one. We will go deep in music theory, ear training, reading, improvising and technique. Always leaning challenging tunes that will develop the student skills. This one allows the student to follow a professional path on the future, or maybe go into a music college.

*Location
Classes can take place at my studio or at your own location with an extra fee for transportation.

*Under 18 students
For children under 18 parents are more than welcome to stay for the classes, tell me if there is any specific goal you are looking for or talk about any subject that you might want.

*AUDITION PREP
I also help people to prepare for auditions. For this subject, I will tell you how to get ready for an audition. If you are trying to get in a college I have many contacts around the country and know how most auditions work and can help you with any question there might be. For auditions for orchestras or band we can work on repertoire and behavior to get you ready and all set to get accepted.

Marcelo is a great instructor. He very quickly found my "level" and by the end of the first lesson had a plan for me which has been just perfect so far. Josh is an incredible musician, teacher, guitar, and bass player (haven't tried his singing lessons yet). His knowledge on both theoretic and practical aspects of music (acquired during his studies as well as several tours with world class bands) is very broad which makes his lessons fun and dynamic, a major plus for motivation and learning process.
With his "hands on" guitar lessons we quickly built a fun song's set which was custom made for my skills level at the time. Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog" was among one of the first songs I learned, and by then I had basic chord's as well as a couple major scale positions knowledge.
I ve been seeing Josh (lately via Skype, which saves me 1 hour a day in commute) for the past 3.5yrs and nowadays I am actually playing with a band which goes live every now and then, despite my challenging 10+ daily work hours.
Josh was instrumental to keep me motivated all the time, I strongly recommend giving him a try.

Josh Lattanzi is an excellent guitar teacher. He is a knowledgable, skilled and accomplished musician who has really helped me make sense of what has always been a confusing instrument for me.

Josh's style is patient, supportive and also very funny. He's the reason I love playing guitar and didn't get scared off by bar chords.

He also can play absolutely anything, and tailors my lessons to help me play the kind of stuff I write the best possible way. I am really grateful to be taught by him and will continue to take lessons as long as he's teaching.

Where do I start?

Josh Lattanzi's guitar lessons are simply the best. I started taking lessons with Josh after I graduated college. I was moving to New York to pursue songwriting and found Josh's website online, deciding to try out a lesson based on his experience as a musician and a teacher.

Now, over five years later I can confidently say that if I hadn't chosen Josh my career as a songwriter would be completely different. He goes above and beyond for his students.

I am simply incredibly lucky to have taken that initial step of a first lesson with Josh of NYC Guitar Lessons.

Josh is a patient, focused but fun teacher. His breadth and depth of knowledge of music, guitar and other instruments is extensive, and lends to thorough and thoughtful teaching.

The thing that I love most about taking lessons with Josh is that he is incredibly flexible, willing and able to tailor each student's lessons based on what their ultimate guitar goals are. It made it easy to refer friends to him that wanted to lean basics of guitar and suggest lessons to friends in the songwriting community who had more specific goals in mind.

I really can't speak highly enough about my experiences as an NYC guitar lessons student with Josh.

I studied music, theory, and foreign language at the University of New Mexico and studied classical guitar at the North Carolina School for the Arts as one of the youngest students admitted at the age of 17. As a high school student I participated and competed in festivals across the U.S. including the Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) and with masterclass instruction from renowned guitarists and composers, David Russell and Ana Vidovic.

Within 10 years of dedicated study, I have been honored with awards of excellence from the National Honors Society of Guitar and recogniz

I recently relocated to NYC from New Orleans where I taught private music lessons to children and young adults and immersed myself in the city of soul to study jazz music. Most recently I spent my summer abroad teaching piano lessons in Spanish to children in Spain. In addition to my solo and duet performances I have taught private music lessons since the age of sixteen with a mission to inspire aspiring musicians as a music educator and bring a life-long love of music to my students!
