Ian is fantastic teacher. He was so patient with my toddler daughter. And when she became fuzzy during the class, Ian could be so creative to always come out with a way to calm her down and redirect her attention to other musical things. I would love him to be my daughter’s music teacher for as long as possible if I did not have to move.

Ian is very knowledgeable and is great in explaining theory and great in demonstrating so you can understand.

My goal as a teacher is to give you the facility to express yourself through music. The key parts to developing this facility are:

1. theory -- if you know your theory, you know the best way to express your idea without having to think about it
2. technique -- the last thing you want is for your technique to hinder your ability to express your idea. Having good technique lets your ideas flow naturally

When you take lessons with me, you get out of it what you put in. Your job as student is to be honest with what you expect to achieve and my job as teacher is to give you the tools to achieve it

About David

I am a bass player first, not a guitarist who also teaches bass. Students will learn technique, theory and groove from a teacher who understands that as bass players, we are in a unique position. Since bass is both a harmony and rhythm instrument we have the opportunity to develop into leaders in

David was very patient and thorough with the introductory lesson. He corrected some basic habits my son had and had him sounding better in 10 minutes.

He also had practical recommendations for daily practice.

I highly recommend David.

David went over basic music theory and rhythm with me, and corrected some technique issues. He explained things clearly and when we put some of it into practice in the final minutes I saw instant results. Absolutely excited to do my homework and for my next lesson.

As a beginning, self-taught bass player of four months, I wanted to find a teacher who could analyze and critique my playing. I scheduled five lessons with David over a time period of three months. David was instrumental in analyzing and critiquing bad techniques and habits I acquired. He very thoroughly emphasized proper fretting technique and finger positioning; exercises were given that helped me obtain full tonal quality and efficient fretboard navigation skills. We also reviewed basic theory, scale modes, rhythmic weight, pentatonics and arpeggios; seminal knowledge for the beginner.

A technical type player, David has excellent playing skills as well as a comprehensive knowledge of theory and its practical application. He is a good listener and showed a genuine interest in helping me achieve my goals. I definitely can see an improvement in my playing skills....playing more confidently and efficiently.

Highly recommended.......

Hi! My name is Raphael, and I am a Flamenco guitarist. I've been playing for over 25 years, and lived in Spain for over 10 years. I have had the pleasure of traveling the world playing guitar and working with some of the best Flamenco artists from Spain, as well as here in the U.S. I am a full ti

I have been taking Flamenco Guitar lessons with Raphael since I moved to New York. It has been a wonderful experience! There are a few things about him that set him apart from other teachers i have worked with:
1. He is extremely patient - but at the same time points out when you are not in compas. If you have played flamenco before you know how important it is to get that correct - and he holds you accountable to the compas which is very helpful.
2. He intermixes exercises and falsetas in a helpful way. My fear with flamenco is that I wind up with a lot of falsetas that I can't really play right. Raphael is not afraid of giving you some exercises to grind on to get your techniques and timing up to par.
3. He is well connected in the NY flamenco world so you know what is happening and can hear a lot of flamenco out in the city.

My experience has been delightful. If you are looking to learn flamenco guitar and want to sound authentic and in compas- I would recommend Raphael unreservedly. Also he is a great guy to spend time with which is always a plus!
Nathalie
Raphael has been studying, teaching and performing throughout the United States and Europe with the top artists in the world of flamenco. Coming from an artistic family, he has grown up with the dedication, creativity and passion needed to become the unique musician he is. Raphael's vast knowledge and experience has helped people of all ages and levels of playing to learn, improve and grow.
Don't miss the opportunity to work with him!

As I have taught many students on many different instruments, my focus has been on providing students with a firm foundation, including proper posture, breathing, embouchure, technique, and pitch/rhythm literacy. Beyond a traditionally classical approach, I believe strongly in listening to my students to realize what they desire to learn. Many students are primarily interested in learning the jazz style, including improvisation, which includes a great deal of listening, transcribing, and practicing of patterns/riffs.

I am a working jazz/classical guitarist in the Northeast Louisiana area. I currently hold teaching residencies at Matt’s Music, Paul Hewitt Music, Strauss Youth Academy, Questech Learning Center and Geneva Academy. I have a Bachelor’s in Instrumental Music Education (K-12) that I obtained at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

I am unique in the aspect that I am very patient and will work hard to push a student in the direction that they want to go - I firmly believe that the ‘right’ way to learn, is to learn what you want to play.

Currently I maintains a rigorous gigging schedule, playing five days weekly at the Warehouse No. 1 and Copeland's of Monroe, performing jazz and classical repertoire for solo guitar. I have taught students who have successfully auditioned into college jazz guitar
programs at ULM, UNO and UNT.

I have extensive teaching experience with people of all ages, and I offer recital opportunities throughout the year. I have a passion for guitar education, and ...

Not only to what she plays but to what she says; I think this is why she has made such tremendous progress. I was not sure how the online lessons would work but they have not skipped a beat and if anything the online sessions are more productive.
